T-Mobile Broadband
Review
In a nutshell: T-Mobile isn't the fastest or the cheapest
of the 3G mobile broadband networks. However the basic price of
£10 per month does include an "always browse and email"
guarantee even if you exceed your data limit, and the USB modem
or USB modem stick is provided free of charge on pay monthly. The
network covers around 85% of the UK population and includes access
to around 1,000 Wi-Fi hotspots around the country. But Ofcom's
survey of mobile broadband, published in May 2011 found that
T-Mobile's mobile broadband service was the second slowest in the
UK.
Best buy: Pay
Monthly Mobile Broadband (£10 per month); or Pay
as you go Mobile Broadband.
T-Mobile
offer mobile broadband using a USB modem stick compatible with a
PC or laptop running Windows 7 and with the Apple Lion operating
system. The USB modem stick is compatible with HSDPA offering speeds
up to 3.6 Mbps. Ofcom's
survey of mobile broadband, published
on 26 May 2011 found that T-Mobile offered slower average download
speeds than most other providers. This survey was based on 4.2 million
tests run from September 2010 to December 2010.

the complaining fools shoulda checked the availability in their area
before purchasing. i live near bristol, so i have full 3g all the time,
fast speeds i can watch vids, play games if i wanted. completely unlimited
website usage. yes the fair usage thing pops up fast but all it does
is stop you loading vids. games, and the standard internet work perfectly
fine. you might have trouble with rubbish flash sites(that have video
intros) but apart from that its more than what i expected. Plus the
portability is great for road trips/holidays within the country. much
like a mobile phone you won't have a perfect signal everywhere, i've
only had problems within busy days (christmas/new year) same as you
would expect for other net providers.

£7.50/1gb per month but i changed to t-mobile for the £10/1gb/per month
because they promised "unlimited browsing" THIS IS A VERY BIG LIE!!!!
3 then offered me 5gb of £8/month so i went back to t-mobile after an
hour to cancel the contract but they "dont cancel contracts if u have
left the shop" so now im stuck with this rubbish internet for 18 months.
The network is rubbish, the internet keeps cutting off and i have to
repeatedly keep refreshing the page and disconnect and reconnect like
5 times in about half an hour. Also pictures appear blurry and take
a very long time to load. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM T-MOBILE INTERNET (the

I pay £5.00 per month for mobile broadband dongle with this bunch and
you might think that's pretty good. It's so cheap because I have had
a mobile with them for years and I threaten to leave. I get a full signal
all the time and when you can stay on-line for more that enough time
to check you e-mails you can do it anytime. But that's the point...
it just logs off when it likes... Ive been on the net this morning and
it has logged itself off around 15 times in the last half hour... Also,
no good for downloading anything bigger than, say, 5 or 10 meg... only
just above dial-up speed and will cut off anyway after a short while.
It's not worth five quid a month so you'd be mad to pay full shop price...
besides, if you do want to get on your phone to customer services, it
ain't that good and it'll cost you even from your T-Mobile phone.

The biggest piece of junk I have ever owned.!! I got the webstick almost
a year ago and have been fighting with T-Mobile ever since. Dropped
connections, no connectivity, no IP address, and the worst customer
service I have ever dealt with. A T-Mobile tech finally came out to
my house and tested my webstick on his computer and got the same crappy
connection that I was getting on my computer. Then he tested his newer
webstick on my computer and it was fabulous. I think T-moblie sold the
websticks knowing the problems and then came out with a new one several
months later because I have had 3 different websticks and none of them
hold a connection. They have tested the towers and the signal and my
house. There is no problem with those areas. The problem is the webstick
as their own tech said. I filed a complaint withe the better business
bureau and T-Mobile's response is that there is no problem and that
it must be working fine because of my extensive use. The only reason
I have been using it so much is because I have to do contantly disconnect
and reconnect in order for it to work. I also have to remove and reinstall
the program. Then when I call for tech support, I have to be connected
but it takes no less than an hour to get tech support on the phone.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS. Before signing up for any technical product
I will call their customer service and see how long it takes and what
kind of service they have. T-Mobile should be run out of business. Their
product sucks and their sevice is even worse. You can call the Executive
Assistant to the Vice President (877-290-6323 ext 3418025) and leave
a message. Maybe if enough of us call they will listen. I have a year
left on my contract and I think it might be worth it to pay the contract
fee and get a new service and then sue them in small court for breach
of contract and get my money back.

are; Pros....Easy to set up, Impressive speed if you can get a hspa
(or better signal) anything less than that and its back to 1996 internet
speeds,Allways able to access email/basic web browsing even when the
fair use has been reached.........Cons.....Hspa is not an easy signal
to obtain (dependant on where you live odviously)i suspect the u.k infastructure
is severely behind the rest of Europe in this regard, Fair use policy
is pathetically low and avoid movies/youtube/bbciplayer etc...you will
use the allowed data just on the trailers!......So we are getting there
with hspa but it needs to be improved, Tmobile need to be more generous
with the fair use policy or just offer an all you can eat package....If
you can have an installed, unlimied fixed internet at home then do that,
If you travel a lot you could do worse than t-mobile but forget about
music/films...Hope this helps.

my fair usage within an hour. However At the end of the month I'd clocked
over 70g worth of downloads, mostly through the games client steam,
which is all good but as soon as I tried using it to actually play the
games online that's where it came unstuck as every 20-30 mins it would
disconnect causing my game to stop altogether. So its a double edged
sword. given that a friend of mine is on vodafone and pays a fiver for

T-mobile pay-as-you-go dongles are worthless if you plan to watch videos
on line -- because of the "fair use policy" The fair use policy is in
the fine print, and it wasn't mentioned to me when I bought the dongle.
It’s not in any of the packaging materials, and to find it on
the website you have to click on daft little icons — there should
be a big red warning at the top of the page. The advertising in the
shop and on the website says you buy per day, week or month. So I paid
£25 (£10 dongle, £15 for one month). But I'd used the limit in three
days (a couple of hours watching videos, emailing a bunch of documents
to a copy-shop so they could print them out). So I bought another top-up
as I thought that'd solve the problem -- no it doesn't, I have to wait
a month. These dongles should have a big red sticker that says "worthless
if you want to watch videos online".

4th dial-up already, they're a joke. I've read numerous online complaints
about them disconnecting other people's internet calls and recently
read a school kid complaining they'd no internet at all. They were free
to browse the web between 4PM-midnight, but they were in bed earlier
than midnight, they said what time they go to and get home from school
and they've no internet. T-Mobile have got to get their act together
or go out of business, they should stop selling internet phones and
internet phones with data cables if they don't want people going online
for longer than their UNFAIR use policy says. They've either sold or
given people's contact details to other companies, so if you're wondering
why you get all that SPAM email and junk post they're your answer, oh
yes, I also read they're not going to get done for it!!!!!!!

I got mine in may 2009, my contract is 3g a month for £15. The biggest
problem was the continuous dissconecting so one day I smashed the dongle.
The next day I went into the T mobile shop and the idiot said have I
got insurance, I replied no so he said tough we can not fix it or replace
it. I was fortunate because my contract was finnished so I could cancel
it. However before I did I took the sim card from the dongle and put
it in my phone and conected to my laptop via internet sharing and as
a result I still have the same contract but the best part is the connection
which does not dissconect.

I have the T-Mobile WiFi Pointer and get an excellent signal and very
reasonable mobile broadband speed. My only complaint with the service
is the 1Gb "reasonable" usage seems to be badly calculated. The T-Mobile
deal is such that after 1Gb intensive use (like YouTube) is restricted..
however normal browsing and email carries on. Testing the usage of my
1Gb reasonable usage I left my laptop connected to Twitter for seven
hours yesterday on my old Three MiFi and the counter claimed a little
over 150Mb for the day. Today I ran the experiment with T-Mobile and
the counter claims I have used 1.3Gb. My laptop is setup with no automatic
downloads and the only page I used each day was Twitter. I give 2 stars
because I want to be able to use the "Reasonable" usage - not to be
restricted for having used my 1Gb. I have to say the actual Browse All
You Want is true... I have not been prevented from posting here even
though my "Allowance" is used in one day.

it took me 4 hours constant trying this morning to access gmail and

I bought mine around two weeks ago, the £40 option including 3 months
unlimited broadband. I was on contract with Orange before (£25 10GB
p.mth) and i decided to try a Pay as you go one this time. The main
reason i choose T-mobile was because it was the only one that doesn't
charge when you go over the allowance, that and i had a good experience
using the internet on my mobile phone with T-mobile in 2007-2009. It
wasn't clear what my data allowance was, i'd seen 1GB and 3GB mentioned,
also the word unlimited used (although i know that means nothing when
it comes to these networks). So i decided not to watch any videos or
stream for the first week, knowing 1GB wouldn't last for very long at
all. After 7 days my data allowance had ran out and i continued browsing,
i was happy to find out that i could browse the internet normally, apart
from Facebook being unusually slow as it was from the start. In one
of the months of my Orange contract i went over my limit, so the speed
was cut for the next month, which made it incredibly slow, to point
of it being pretty much unusable. So in comparison to that, T-mobile
is better for when you go over your allowance. Although i was wish it
wouldn't keep on reminding me that i've gone over, with a fair use policy
message that comes up every now and again. The main problem i've had
with it and the one that bothers me the most is, it says it's "not responding"
far too often and it seems to becoming more frequent. Each time this
happens i have to restart or shut down my laptop, because the device
has caused some sort of glitch, the laptop doesn't shut down properly
when this happens, so i have to do it manually, then turn it back on
again to reconnect to the internet, causing a lot of wasted time and
hassel. I've also had other similar problems losing connection. Whenever
i write anything online now or make changes on websites, i'm always
it will happen and i'll lose everything i've just done. So now i have
to save things i've written in Microsoft works before i press the submit
button. If this keeps happening as often i won't be able to use T-mobile
for long. There's clearly a problem with their dongle sticks or software.
I found this website looking for a solution to the problem, as many
others probably have done. Because of this and T-mobile deciding to
reduce their data-allowance, as well as now charging people £2 per day
instead of what was previously £1 (if people want that option) T-Mobile
only gets 2 stars from me. (When i clicked Submit then, i lost connection
again. I suppose i was being generous giving 2 stars) (OK second of
time of trying and this time when i clicked it, the fair use policy
message came up. I wouldn't recommend T-mobile broadband to anyone.)

The T-mobile dongle that I bought was on offer in Argos for £9.99, so
it is hard to complain about the price of the dongle itself. The first
problem was the poor and almost non-existent instruction manual, which
made it hard to set up for the first time. Where I live, there is no
great problem with the T-Mobile signal strength, and I was able to watch
YouTube videos without freezing and rebuffering. But, and now the real
problem, since February 2011 T-Mobile has cut the monthly bandwidth
fair use allowance from 2GB to 1GB per 30 days. As practically everyone
else here has said, this makes sustained or daily use impossible. 1GB
per month = 34MB per day, watch the data usage window and see how quickly
this goes. While I would not say "Don't buy this, it's total rubbish"
because the dongle itself is OK, the current Pay As You Go plan has
to be regarded as a bit of a joke. It is just about OK for the reason
that I bought the dongle, which is as an emergency backup and for occasional
trips, but for daily use, forget it. The cheeseparing bandwidth allowance
rules out any serious uses. Dongles like this are being mis-sold, because
they cannot compete with a home Internet connection if they impose such
tight bandwidth limits. It is little wonder that there are so many complaints.
