In a nutshell: An entry-level phone that's compact and nicely
styled. The T303 has very basic functionality and hardly any memory,
but it does have excellent battery life. Best buy: *Free*
with half-price line rental from Dialaphone
or with a free Sony Vaio Laptop from Mobiles.co.uk
(Black) or Mobiles.co.uk
(Pink); or £24.95 on Pay as you Go from the
Carphone
Warehouse (Black or Pink).
Review:
October 2008. Updated April 2009.
The Sony Ericsson T303 isn't a Cyber-Shot and it
isn't a Walkman phone. Instead it's an entry-level
phone with a basic set of functions.
It's very nicely styled, with soft edges and a
mirror glass display, and is available in a choice of Shadow Black
or Shimmering Silver. It's compact and kind of cute looking, with
a small but functional keypad.
The T303 includes a 1.3 megapixel camera with digital
zoom. This is fine for taking quick snaps in good lighting, but
there's no flash, so taking pictures indoors or at night isn't recommended.
No video camera is included.
It does come with a media player and an FM radio
with RDS. Unfortunately the memory is limited to 8 Mbytes, with
no memory card slot, so you'll only be able to store a couple of
MP3 tracks. These can be used as ringtones.
The battery life is excellent, and the connectivity
options include both Bluetooth and USB. If you're looking for a
compact phone that's good for making calls, sending texts, and maybe
taking the odd photo, then this could be the one! The Sony
Ericsson F305 is a step up if you'd like the benefit of a memory
slot, a better camera and better games.
Most popular contract deals:
Features of the Sony Ericsson T303 include:
1.3 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom
Display: TFT, 65,536 colours, 128 x 160 pixels

TrackID
MP3/AAC ringtones
Speakerphone
Sound recorder
Messaging: SMS, MMS

Connectivity: Bluetooth, USB

This is a cracker, and I'll tell you why. I had a rather large Nokia
, model number is one i dont care to remember, but in all the years
i had owned it, it had refused to die despite the most appalling
treatment and on several occasions i had been convinced i would
never get rid of it. Needless to say vanity won the day last week,
when i brought the t303 home. Unlike some reviewers on this site,
I had been determined to find out as much as possible about this
phone before it came to permanently replace the old workhorse. I
got hold of the user's guide/manual on pdf and had a thorough read.
I compared this phone's features against others in detail and then
made my choice. The expandable memory was top of my list and since
the t303 lacked this I wondered what else it had to compensate.
It is a very small phone which for me would probably be overcompensating
for the Nokia. The T303 has en eyelet on it's side from which a
wrist /neck strap could be hung: less danger of losing it then.
It has a simple yet classy design, a fact I confirmed when I held
it in my hands for the first time. Volume through the earpiece is
vey good. Also suppled with earphones. It has bluetooth; file sharing
is a must; Capacity for ringtones and themes taken care of. There
are free themes/ringtones available for download from S/E site,
my tenner roped in to the purchase deal for the phone would come
in handy. Note, a propriety USB cable would be an additional expense.
My mp3 player is my preferred data storage device. I am not a chatterbox
and hence battery life is one I can live with very comfortably.
It has FM so does my music player, and more than once, I've started
a train journey little realising, I had not charged the player in
advance. Crumbs... Not likely now. Camera is adequate, I mostly
send photos of things seen whilst out shopping to mates and family
anyway. As an experiment, I have uploaded almost an hour's worth
of mp3 files on to this phone. A little confession first, the mp3
files are converted mono versions of songs further encoded at lower
bit rates. The lower quality is not noticealbe to any great extent
on this phone especially if listening at a low to moderate volume
setting. You'd have to be a skinflint audio phile to complain about
this. Overall, a very good phone and it is excellent value for money.
I cannot expect a phone to include all features referred to as missing
on this site without a rise in cost or a loss in battery life Considering
you get what you pay for, I certainly do not feel short changed
in choosing the T303 Rating:

If you want a tiny phone with excellent battery life, this is it.
Bonus, it's inexpensive. If you want features, features, and more
features that you will never use, then this is not the phone for
you. Likewise, it's not the phone for those who want to constantly
be entertained with games or to have an iPod and phone in one. However,
it does have a radio. Most would probably prefer the black model

If you are like me and require a phone, for talking to people, texting
and organising those sorts of functions then this little phone is
perfect. If you want a toy to play with then go for something else.
I have never yet come across a camera in a phone that’s of
much use, emailing, web browsing listening to music, file storing
etc aren’t the point of the T303 and shouldn’t be expected.
So once again this is a near perfect little phone, mine is now 4
weeks old and has been totally reliable, is high quality with a
solid clunk to the slider, it looks good, slips into my shirt pocket
and has all the functions a phone should have. Battery life is long,
speaker is now good and loud since I found the volume control, -
highly recommended and a bargain. Rating:

no problems at all the reception is great everywhere' i am with
the o2 network. it is perfect in size for just slipping into your

this is for you but if your looking for a mp3 player and camara
then dig a bit deeper in your pocket. i have managed to get 3 mp3
songs on mine and thats it but you can delete some themes for more

Well, I bought one of these things for £35 and for the money you
can't fault it. I bought it as my C902 got stolen and the insurance
won't replace it so I needed something cheap so I could at least
use all my contract minutes and texts till I get an upgrade in November.
Main issues: * the screen is very low-res and the viewing angle
ain't up to much - not looking forward to trying to work it on a
sunny day or if I've taken halluciogens * there is no memory for
pictures or MP3 - but the way I look at it, it's not a camera phone.
It's a phone that happens to have a camera that you can use in case
of extreme emergency - if you suddenly see the loch ness monster
or are first on the scene of a major plane crash, you will still
be able to get a quick snapshot to send to the newspapers, but it's
not gonna take great pics of your mates out on the lash. * the quality
from the earpiece isn't fab, but it is useable. the worst thing
for me is that it does not appear to be compatible with the Sony
Ericsson PC suite (even though the phone can connect to your PC
with USB) - meaning I can't easily migrate the 300 or so contacts
stored on my PC. On the plus side, it's built like the proverbial
brick outhouse. Considering this was the cheapest phone in the shop
at £30 on prepay, you really cannot afford to be sniffy for this
kind of money. These days you can't even get three rounds of drinks
in for yourself and two mates in the pub for that kind of money!
Cheap and cheerful - I'd give it 7 out of 10 if we were marking
out of 10, but 4 out of 5 will have to do. Rating:

phone. I've always been a big Sony fanboy, but recently my loyalty
has been tested with their slider phones. I've had the W580i and
the W910i and both of them have had loose sliders. Not just in isolation
either, I had at least 4 different handsets of each phone and all
were loose. So my hopes for this weren't great but I purchased it
anyway and I'm pleased I did. It's a brilliant reliable phone. Everything
works perfectly. I've had it for 3 months and the only tiny problem
has been the phone freezing once or twicc during uploads of pictures
to my PC. The buttons are all nice and easy to use, although the
key pad needs breaking in and getting used to at first. If you want

Totally agree with Karyn from Australia - a phone is a phone is
a phone. Granted it does have a small memory which may not be to
everyone's liking, but you get what you pay for. This is a inexpensive
but nice looking phone with an fm radio and a camera. If you're
looking for an all singing all dancing portable do-all then go out
and spend a few hundred bucks on something. People should really
check a few reviews and do a bit of research before parting with
their money. One reason I bought this is because of the size and
ease of use - particularly the slider. I bought it for our 8-year
old, who is largely paralysed and can barely hold a phone (but,
boy, can he use it!). He's just tickled pink because he's just figured
out how to open it with the one hand he can use - took some doing
but it's the perfect phone for him. The menus are pretty easy to
follow - much like on his mother's, aforementioned, all singing
all dancing portable media centre. I bought the UK T-Mobile Daisy
edition. You get a plain and a daisy patterned battery cover with
this edition, plus a little daisy "fob". I paid a few quid to unlock
it from T-Mobile's grasp - no problems there. Battery life seems
pretty good too. Can't fault it for what I paid. Rating:

Best low cost phone on the market. Recommended. I bought my T303
from Dick Smiths, for $99. I was looking for a phone with basic
features, such as the 1.3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth, etc. Compact
size and sleek design, and pleasant to use for texting. I got my
moneys worth. I am extremely happy with this product. I had a bit
of trouble trying to figure out how to turn speaker volume up on
a call, but that was user-error (didn't read the manual properly)
For me, it is what a phone is conventionally used for, an attractive
appearance, and a camera a cut-above from the VGA is a good. I don't
beleieve it is necessary to manage all my cultural and social expereinces
on a digital context. I text my friends, I make calls, and take
pictures. That's it. I have a stereo, a personal laptop, and a good
social life. I don't want a phone that controls my life for me.

I bought this phone because I have no need of a high-end one. All
I require is the ability to make calls. The phone is compact, looks
attractive but I have been plagued, over and over with one specific
problem: Very often when I try to get into my messages or contacts
I get a message saying that it's opening that section but doesn't
succeed. This has happened on several occasions when I have been
in dire need of making a call. In short, I can in no way rely on
it. I have dispraxia and rely on it to remember and access the numbers
for me and despite the low price, I expect at least that. Rating:

for less than £35 and it looks and feels as if it cost so much more.
It doesn;t have a million features, just the basiscs, and it does
everything very well indeed. It is very small, unlike the huge bricks
on offer everywhere these days. If you want someithing smart, well
designed, high quality and great value for money, without loking

I needed to get a cheap phone to use for mainly texting. And on my
student budget 50 quid got me a pretty nice phone! The fact it is
made of metal is really good as ive found it to be very hardwearing
and feels quite solid whilst your texting! (dropped twice from about
5 ft onto pavement! And no bumps or problems!) It looks really good
too with the mirrored screen, but i find im constantly wiping the
screen as the shinyness looks awful with finger marks! The only
problems is that the memory is really bad! I put about 2 songs on
and about 20 pics max and it got full! and you can only save about
10 messages, However the inbox holds about 150 messages and a few
pic messages which was quite good! It does take a few seconds to
connect too when answering calls and sometimes also crashes if you
press things too fast! But i found the internet to be working really
easilly, and the actual ease of use of the phone was very simple
to use and required no reading of instructions! The camera is okay!
But has no flash and if your a shakey hand photographer then it
can blur easilly! But its fine for basic pics! Only major problem
is that my on/off button has now broke after a month or so! However
this phone came with a years warrenty so will be replaced no problem!
Overall its a really nice looking small phone for the price and
does all the basic functions you need from a phone! Quite hard wearing
and feels really solid so great for texters! Easy enough to set
up everything when you get it too! Not too bad as a phone, buy a
camera/ipod if you want good photos and lots of music! haha Rating:

There are some very mixed reviews on this phone, and mine's a combination
of the good and bad. I chose this phone cos I'm a student on a budget
and just wanted something that would make calls, send texts, and
look good, and the T303 does those three things well enough, so
it was worth my £50. However, when I answer a phone call it does
take like 5 seconds to connect to the phone ringing me from when
I slide mine open - does anyone else find this?! I end up saying
"hello?" about three times down the line before I hear my mate's
voice which gets a bit annoying. Another thing is, don't buy this
phone for its photo-taking abilities cos it's pretty poor on that,
with no flash, but as I said, if you're like me and just want the
basics from a good-looking phone, the T303 is probably for you. Rating:

Not a bad mobile overall. 2 cons are: Camera is only 1.3 megapixel
(pictures taken aren't of a very good quality) and overall memory
is only 8mb. This mobile is perfect for those who have a good digital
camera and a mp3 player of some sort and won't be relying on T303
for these 2 duties! I have only had the T303 for a week but overall
I like the design and the weight of the mobile. It fit's into the
palm of your hand and your pocket. It has that slic look about it.
As you end a call and close the slider, after about 15 seconds the
screen turns into a mirror. Handy feature for those who like to
look at themselves constantly. :-) Rating:

good. It's a simple no frills phone with a colour screen, SMS, MMS
and calling feature and a fairly decent 1.3 megapixel camera. I
think people are expecting too much from this phone. It's not a
high end phone therefore you won't get high end features. The only
thing for me is getting used to a smaller screen but hell we managed
with no colour screens for years I'm sure getting used to a smaller
screen won't take long! All in all, cute, compact and does what

Looking at some of the bad reviews on here, you'd think people don't
pay any attention to what phone they're buying. Lack of memory,
no dedicated music features, and low screen resolution: aren't these
all things you should be aware of before you purchase? Believe it
or not, for some of us these things are actually advantages. We
don't want the menus cluttered with features we'll never use, or
superb screens that suck battery life in a matter of hours. But
we do want a nice little phone that's got better build quality than
the plasticky "budget" handsets (see anything Nokia offers for less
than £50). There aren't many such phones on the market, but the
T303 is one of them, and it does an excellent job of doing the things
it's designed for. Rating:

and not getting the letter you want. Some sites say it has a memory
card slot, dont believe them - it doesn't. 8mb of memory on the phone

Great phone! I use this on a paygo (prepaid) plan with Vodafone.
I needed a small and decent phone for my work that was cheap with
not too many frills, yet basic nice stuff like bluetooth, a camera
and good midi support. This is completely the answer to that demand.
Sound quality is good, menu response is fine and the phone OS is
stable. The phone is very compact and light so it doesn't feel like
a burden to carry it along side my regular mobile phone (an SE k770i).
Writing off a phone because there is not enough space for a song
on the internal memory, is missing the point I think. There are
better walkman phones out there, just as there are better camera
phones or phones to browse the internet with. This phone is just
what it is. A simple yet very decent entry level phone, that will
please most people who are searching for a cost effective solution
to call, sms and mms with. It's triband so it will work in most
places around the world. The shiny display doubles as a mirror when
the screen is off. I think it is good phone and I would recommend
it. Just don't compare it to the 400 dollar phones that are out
there. You get what you pay for and in this case I consider it a
good deal. Rating:
