In a nutshell: One of the best camera phones ever released,
incorporating a 3.2 megapixel Cyber-Shot™ camera with autofocus
and a bright xenon flash. Also comes with a music player, 3G video
calling, expandable memory and wireless Bluetooth connectivity.
The K800i can be your digital camera and MP3 player as well as a
mobile phone. The only downside is that it's a bit heavy and bricklike.

The Sony Ericsson K800i is the first 3G phone in
Sony Ericsson's Cyber-Shot™ range of camera phones. It's the
best of the Cyber-Shot phones so far, and in our opinion, the best
camera phone available in the UK at the time of release.
Whilst large and a little brick-like, the K800i
is beautifully built and finished. It's clearly a solidly constructed
phone that should last well. The design is traditional and a bit
square, but very nicely finished. The back of the phone shares many
design features with the Cyber-Shot camera range and looks more
like a camera than a phone. There's a cover for the camera lens,
and annoyingly this has a habit of sliding off when the phone is
in a bag or pocket, causing the camera to activate by itself. The
keypad is well designed and easy to use, although the keys are quite
small and may not suit someone with large fingers. The screen is
large (2.0 inches) and of superb quality. The phone is heavier than
average at 115g, but this isn't heavy for a 3G phone, and heavy
phones are better at taking pictures because there is less camera
shake.
At 3.2 megapixels, the K800i's camera has the highest
resolution available at the time of writing (August 2006), but its
the quality of the optics that really determines the quality of
a camera, and the K800i doesn't disappoint. With autofocus and a
real xenon flash (most camera phones have a weaker LCD flash that
leads to poor exposure and red-eye), the K800i is a real digital
camera, not just a toy. Picture quality is very impressive indeed,
and is a match for many dedicated digital cameras. The K800i comes
with a novel feature called BestPic™. BestPic takes nine pictures
at a time, enabling you to choose the best. There's also a picture
stabiliser, helping to eliminate camera shake. Naturally the K800i
supports direct printing on PictBridge compatible printers, so you
don't need a computer in order to print your pictures.
There's also a video camera, which also makes use
of the picture stabiliser, helping to avoid shaky videos. It's not
the best video camera around however, which is disappointing given
the outstanding quality of the still camera. A video editor is included,
so that you can edit videos on the phone. A second video camera
is used for 3G video calling.
The music player on the K800i is of very good quality.
It's an easy-to-use player that supports playlists. There's also
a stereo RDS FM radio. Sound quality by the built-in speakers is
good, but doesn't match that of the Sony
Ericsson W900i. Stereo output to a normal or wireless
headset via Bluetooth is supported.
As well as its outstanding camera and excellent
music capabilities, the K800i is a genuine all-rounder. 3G enables
2-way video calling, fast music & video downloads and business applications
such as email (although there's no Office document viewer). The
K800i supports genuine multitasking, enabling you to talk and access
other functions at the same time. A sophisticated web browser is
built into the phone, displaying web pages with images as they look
on a computer. You can subscribe to RSS feeds from your phone to
get news, etc, and you can blog from your phone too. The K800i can
act as a broadband connection for your PC, connecting via USB cable
or wirelessly by Bluetooth.
The K800i is compatible with the Memory
Stick Micro™ (M2™), enabling its memory to be increased
to 1 Gbyte or more ( no memory stick is supplied in the sales package).
This gives plenty of space for storing music and video. A wide range
of connectivity options are available - Bluetooth, USB mass storage,
infrared and Fastport (for connecting a charger, portable handsfree,
cable or other accessory) - everything except WiFi in fact. Battery
life is excellent for a 3G phone.
The K800i is an excellent mobile. Not only was
it the best camera phone around at the time of release, but it's
a good all-rounder. There are a few things missing, such as wi-fi
and a document viewer, but there's no doubting that this is still
a great phone from Sony Ericsson. Disadvantages include the large
size, fiddly keypad, and the camera cover that slides off too easily.
A bigger irritation is the PC software that is supplied with the
phone - this is difficult to install and needs to be addressed by
Sony Ericsson in future releases. But definitely a classic and one
of our all-time favourites!

I have had this phone for more than 4 years now and Have found out that
it is much better than the phones of today. The only thing that I would
like to add is that I wish there was an easier way for sending text.
You have to press may times to get to the right letter. If any one knows
of a keypad that can be down loaded.

Absolute superb phone had one for several years. Beats the fancy dan
touch screens in every way. Buy one on an auction site for around £25
great value and a great phone.

this was the only phone my dad was offering to me so i had no choice......:(
but when i played around a bit it was really good the flash is amazing
excellent pictures in the dark.....:D had it for 6 months nowww......
and dont think i will change my phone for a while.... XD

Its an amazing mobile phone with 3.2 mp camera with cybershot and the
3d gaming is simply super with a 240x320 pixels screen but it have problem
it can support only a 2gb card that was so embarassing problem but i'm
satisfied with this mobile

I have had this phone for ~3 years. It is a very good piece of machinery.
Dropped it several times, nothing broke. Works perfectly except for
the menu freezing sometimes. The battery lasts ~5-6 days. The camera
is very good. Built of high quality materials.

I've always been a Nokia user, and have been daunted by the thought
of changing phone brands, especially since Nokia is renowned for it's
great user friendliness. However, after gettting the k800i, i dare say
that Sony Ericsson has come a long way, and maybe even surpassed Nokia.
In short, the features of the k800i: Good camera with real flash. Though
the protruding lens cover is prone to sliding open in your pocket. Very
large, clear, and bright screen. Nice user interface and menus. Easy
to use. Good organiser (calendar, alarms, etc.) Nice bundled software
(Facewarp, 3D games) What attracts me to phones are its features, and
this phone has most of the features u could want. Cons: Battery life
seems shorter than what is advertised. Don't know if it's the network
(3), but signal drops off and on, sometimes goes to roaming. Would like
a PDF viewer. Phone does not come bundled with an external memory card.

Great phone, had it about a month and i love it. It is larger than my
last phone which was the K750i but i don't care as the screen is so
much better and the camera really is amazing! I've tried the 3G and
its quite good, one of the best i've seen and working for a video conferencing
company, i've seen a few! The only thing i would say is that the camera
cover does slide off very easily exposing the camera a lot, but it's
not a massive thing. Apart from that i love it and i'm really glad i
went for another Sony Ericsson as an upgrade!!

Overall, a very impressive phone! The image quality from the camera
is fantastic, and mp3 playback through the provided headphones is impressive,
though bass is predictably weak when using the inbuilt speaker. The
menus are very clear and easy to navigate, and the screen is just beautiful
- very bright and sharp. Some people have complained about the size
of the phone, but it's quite easy to find the handset dimensions on
the internet, or even go into a shop and look at one. I agree that the
styling may be a little 'boxy' for some, but it's growing on me and
I quite like the contrast of the angular face with the more gently curving
sides. If you're surprised by the physical appearance when it arrives,
you haven't done your research properly! As some people have noted,
the software installation is a little cumbersome, as you have to rely
on windows XP repeatedly 'detecting new hardware' and prompting you
to install drivers - a good half a dozen times in all. However, once
installed, it worked perfectly for me. The only real complaint I have
is about battery life - as I type this it's at less than 5%, having
only been charged 30hrs ago. In that time I've used it for perhaps 20mins
in camera mode, 30mins in mp3 playback mode, and about 4hrs in phone
mode (creating address book entries, text messages etc). As most other
reviewers have praised the battery life, I expect that in my case this
is just due to a faulty battery, or maybe there's some standby setting
I haven't discovered yet.

Had this phone for a week and took it back and exchanged for a Samsung
D900. Reasons why - The phone is like a brick, the camera lens cover
is pathetic even with keylock on if you have it in your pocket this
opens it activates the camera causing your battery to wear down, the
keypad is small and is a nightmare. To be fair the camera is superb
hence the 2 stars. My advice take the D900 over the K800i anyday!!

I recieved this phone last saturday and i am still finding new things
on it everyday , i have to say this phone is amazing in every way the
features and options are unlimited theres so much you can do with it
i couldn't be more happier with this phone brilliant!!!! well done sony
ericsson you are the best!!! if this phone was alive i would marry it!!!

This is an attractive, well balanced (ie nice to hold) phone. The screen
is excellent, the camera good for a mobile although no match for a 3MP
compact camera. Sound quality is amazing, calls are really clear. The
supplied headphones are good although it would have been preferable
if you could plug in your own. The software is vastly improved on previous
Sony's. Integration and syncing with Outlook is spot on. I could at
a pinch ditch my PDA and use this instead. The downside are simply the
buttons are far too small. I don't have overlarge fingers but you almost
need to use a stylus to operate some of them. Sony have retained the
'nipple' joystick control. It is very easy to select the wrong option
when using it. Although the screen is very clear, it is difficult to
see in bright sunlight - a problem I encountered with the T610 a few
years ago. I've decided to return it and exchange it for a Samsung D900,
which is probably the best phone available at the moment.

This phone is absolutely outstanding. I have had this phone for a week
now and I am still finding little extra's that make this phone different
from the rest, for example, there is two buttons next to the speaker
at the top of the phone and the 3.2 MEGA PIXEL CAMERA has a cover, a
flash and auto focus. But moving onto the overall performance of the
phone, now I seem to notice that this phone is very quick for a 3G phone
and it is very light weight aswell. But as an overall of the phone is
has everything an 11 year - old like me needs!!

Stunning! Heres why: Screen very clear. Nice and big and very bright.
Great for the internet. Great camera. Very clear definition and colors
acuraratly reproduced. Nice lenscap to keep the lens clean. Music quality
just as good as the W series. In fact I'm sitting here listening to
bon jovi playing on the phones external speaker. Amazing fidelity for
such a small gadget. Software: practically everything is updatable.
This doesn't stop the phone from being easy to use though. Features:
This phone has everything. Negative points: Very few. Some people may
not like the joystick so try before you buy. Also it's not the smallest
phone so if you want to slip this into your bikini pockets you may have
problems. The whelth of features can be a bit daunting at first. To
sum up, this is a freaking awsome phone. It takes phones to the next
level.

Well after reading some of the reviews on here, I wasn't quite sure
whether to get this. I previously had a Nokia 6680 which I had grown
tired of. I can only assume that the reason everyones reviews are so
different is that people have different needs in a phone. For me, features
are what attract me to a phone, and this one has many. Firstly, its
main selling point is the camera which is very very good, the quality
is high and there are loads of features and options when taking pictures,
plus editing tools. The screen is very good quality, and clear. Games
are also very good, 3D etc. There are however a few features that it
does not have which I liked about the Nokia including: Profiles cannot
be set with different ring tones, battery life isn't as good, and umm
thats about it.

Fantastic phone, better than the rest on the market. little bit chunky,
but to be expected considering all the feature packed into it.Brilliant!
Just wish Orange wouldnt put their own setup onto the phone as its better
without. Buy on o2 if you can or a new offline phone. 10/10

Iv'e had the phone roughly a month now, the camera is top notch with
a real flash, the phone is pretty easy to use the menu's run very quick
and smoothly, best thing of all is the amazing battery life, playing
mp3 tracks for 7 hours and the battery only went down 100% to 80%.....WOW..that
included a 10 min call also. I would give it 5 stars but I have a couple
of minor issues with the phone: The camera lens cover is way too slack,
it slides open all the time in my pocket activating the camera. The
screen needs protecting, I prefer flip phones for that, screen also
isn't as good as the motorola v3x. But I would def recommend this phone
just for it's features & battery life alone.

Despite being a top class phone, i have to say i was dissapointed when
it arrived. What i can not stand is the way every corner is at a right
angle. Why not have curves for a smoother look. Also, after being used
to Samsung flip phones and slider phones, the size of the phone is a
bit off putting. Put the phone in the Sony Ericsson case and its like
carrying a house brick. Awesome features cant be denied, but i think
i am going to have to return it.

This camera is excellent. The features allow you to take photos in different
settings (dark) and then the phone allows you to use these photos on
your own Blog web page. The Video camcorder is still basic and the same
as previous models which is a shame. This phone isn't a brick like other
Nokia models and has a nice menu screen and options.

Ist Sony Ericsson handset and have no regrets so far.... Old V3 user
and k800i outweghs it 100% Are there any unlock codes for this handset

Waited ages for this phone, after delayed release dates. What a disapointment
phone big, bulky and build quality poor in comparision with K750i.Received
first handset from O2 after a short while the keytones failed to work
even though selected in the menu. Returned handset to O2 to await new
handset...hoping the fault would have been one off...no such luck same
problem on this handset. Contacted Sony ericsson technical department,
reply not known fault recommended to do a firmware upgrade..No firmware
upgrade available for this handset...Contacted O2 and agreed to return
this handset and swap for a Nokia 6233...what a handset far better than
the Sony. Sony have really let themselves down with this monster !!!!!!!!!11

Nice phone, shame about the software This phone was supplied as an 'upgrade'
to my trusty K750 which has stood up well to some surprisily hard knocks.
The first thing I wanted to do was transfer all the contacts from the
750 to this phone, could I do it? Could I hell. Not only does the K800
refuse to acknowledge the contacts on the SIM card, when I tried the
'Communication Suite' on the accompanying CD, although it read the data
from the 750, it refused to acknowledge the 800 and the contact data
was left steadfastly marooned in Outlook. What a load of rubbish. As
other users have indicated, the software is slow, overly elaborate and
unreliable. If I can't get the software to work after another night's
tearing my hair out I shall be sending this phone back.

Some years ago I swapped to Sony Ericsson from NOKIA and have never
looked back. Do not believe all the rubbish written about NOKIA software
being better..... it is simply what you are used to. When I got my first
Sony Ericsson (T610) I found their software to be more intuitive and
better integrated with Windows. This is still the case! The K800i -
as an upgrade of the K750i- does the job very well. I chose over W810i
because of 3G compatibility. Camera - Amazing: the best RSS feed- really
useful and wroks well Email- efficient for a phone and easy to set up
MP3- satisfactory and the Disc2Phone software works well USB connection-
satisfactory Useability of keys- OK but slightly worse than K750i due
to the keys being crammed at bottom of display. But the display is incredible-
so hey, waddya want? Internet- fabulous..... I love the way you can
rotate the image to landscape and zoom. And It displays virtually all
pages logically optimised for mobile phone. Oh and it is fast. Speaker-
OK video hpne - don't know yet- nobody I know has got a video phone
yet. Oh and finally- YES it is a good functional phone with decent reception.
FOOOTNOTE to Sony: Please keep developing - I am waiting for something
this size which can use QuickOffice so I can see PowerPoints, Word and
Excel documents. Plus I would like a pdf reader.

I obtained the phone about a month back and I have to say that Sony
Ericsson have out done themselves this time. The 3.2 mega pixel camera
is mind blowing with all its features, the way you are able to take
such grate photos and still be able to fiddle about with the image itself.
But with every phone it has its letdowns and it was all down to the
pc suite, at first I thought maybe the pc suite C.D does not work so.
So I decided to download the software but still I was having the same
problem. After researching upon the matter I realized that many people
have had the exact same problem. Other than that the phone scores a
4 out of 5 upon my board and I still think its one of this years phones
to get.

Excellent phone! Miles better than the Nokia N80 I returned. Only a
couple of gripes. The slide covering the camera is a bit flimsy And
no memory card included. Cheapskates! Everything else is first class.
Camera (face warp & panarama setting especially), battery life, menus,
voice dialing, texting, rds radio, music player, games - all great.
The best phone around by far.

Good battery life and build quality. Camera is excellent for a phone
as is the screen. Themes and menus arent especially inspiring or intuitive
but not sure if thats down to Orange or Sony. Keys are a bit cramped
and were very stiff when new but loosened a lot after some use. Only
real gripe is that it seems to drop signal more than it should, but
again maybe thats Orange's network.

After waiting 3 years for a phone to 'wow' me as much as the Nokia 6230
did when it came out, the K800i is exactly what the mobile community
needed to take phones to the next level. Nokia have lost the plot over
the last 3 years, not being able to compete with Samsung's good looking
phones, or Sony Ericsson's technological advances, but they always held
their own when it came to reliability and useability. With the K800i,
Sony Ericsson have (for me) properly come of age as the premier mobile
phone makers, this phone has everything you could want, and is the first
phone to bridge the phone/camera gap without making it feel gimmicky,
and it is a joy to use. Definitely the best mobile phone released so
far!

i fort this phone was amazing because the quality of the camers is so
amazint it outstandin. the size is just right n all the stuff you can
store on it. compare yo your old phones you well be so suprise how much
more stuff n equitment this has if your looking for a new phone i would
say go for this phone :D:D

I have been a nokia addict for about 10 years and this is the first
non nokia I have owned. I've had the phone about a week and so far am
impressed with the ease of use ( it didn't take long to get used to
the navigation ) and the superior photo quality. The large screen is
attractive and bright and the phone is neat and compact. BUT what is
the deal with the PC suite. The software is rubbish, the USB connection
does not work and as I browse the internet for solutions all I find
is complaints from people having the same problems. I loved the idea
of drag and drop songs from audio CD's to the K800i's MP3 using the
PC suite but it just won't work. So generally I am happy with the phone
but very disappointed with the PC Software and functions which hinder
the ability of the phone.

Being used to the perfectly sized K750 for the last 12months it was
a bit of a shock to receive this little monster through the post. Sure
it has updated features and cybershot functions but it is nowhere as
pocketable as the K750. Overall usability is much worse with the keypad
being too far down the bottom and the bulk of the weight located at
the top half where the display is so it's quite a strain on your hand
if you're a heavy texter like me. The lens cover sticking out is also
a nuisance and makes it uncomfortable to hold the phone for too long.
I exchanged it for the W810 and havent looked back.

This is my first ever contract phone, so never had the opportunity to
own a real hi-spec phone. I have been an avid PAYG Nokia owner from
the days of the Nokia RinGo, so this was going to be a new adventure
for me......well what can I say, absolutley amazing, the camera quality
is fantastic, I have to agree with some reviews on the quality of the
video, but that's what digital camcorders are for, so not really bothered
about it. If you've got big fingers like me the buttons can feel a little
awkward to press, I will get use to it, so I can live with that. Iv'e
owned the phone for 14 hrs now, and I'm getting the hang of navigating
the phone, love the navigation key, what a brilliant idea. So.........I
would definately recommend this phone, if like me you are going to be
new to Sony Ericsson, don't worry, YOU WILL NOT be dissapointed!!!!

I've had this phone for a week and its been great. I've upgraded from
a Motorola V3 which i really only liked because of its looks. This k800i
is something else, the camera is superior, loads of different themes
to choose from and the radio is great plus its 3g. However I do admit
the video is not so good, its ok, buts its a dissapointment. The build
quailty of this phone is brilliant, it looks and feels expensive. The
camera cover i don't think was the best design and it scratches easily
but who cares really. The memory i think is a little weak which is why
i bought a 1GB memory card for it so thats plenty. The screen is amazing
compared to some of the other phones i've seen on the market, its very
bright and clear, u can actually see it outside in the day. Some people
say that they find the key pad is difficult to use to text, but it think
its fine. Overall a excellent phone!! Arguably the best around!!

I like the K800 but it is not perfect. It is to do with the software
enabling connection with a PC. The CD did not work and the one I downloaded
has a problem with synchronisation. The worst is that when synchronising
the phone erased the data on my PC calendar before May 06. ANother irritating
problem, any recurring appt on my PC (I use Outlook) is duplicated each
time I synchronise. I am keeping the phone because of its other qualities
but I hope that Sony Eriksson will upgrade the software. If data older
than 3 months cannot be downloaded, that's fine but we should be told.
When synchronising again, there should be a warning and we should be
given a chance to stop erasing data on the PC! If recurring appts are
not acceptable, we should be told too. There may be other problems but
I have stopped synchronising for the time being!

i like the sony ericssons i have always had the l8tst model the only
drawback to this phone is u dont get a memory card with it its larger
than previous models. and the torch light is not included like in k750i
which was amazing. the camera on this phone is wicked. but the video
quality is not 3.2 i was well gutted. anyway apart from that this is
a gd phone reliable and gd battery.

This phone is quiet simply the best all around phone available on the
market, just makesure to get a 1GB memory card and your sorted!

a great fone good camera quality but video is nt as good, im also disapointed
with battery life but i am using camera alot, the camera slide cums
open in ur pocket a lit 2 easy thou apart from that a gr8 phone id recomend
it to any1 total number of stars 4.5

I previously owned the w800i which i quite liked, but i expected a lot
more from the k800i. To be honest there isn't really much of a difference;
and i feel as though i should have waited a bit longer for some of the
phones being released later this year. Good points; The 3.2mp camera
is very impressive, as is the autofocus, and best pic function. Loads
of different settings, with self timer, metering mode, white balance;
definitely a step up from all other existing camera phones. (one annyoning
point is the protruding camera shutter, which means the back of the
phone is not level; can get annoying!) The phone menu i find is very
easy to use and navigate, lots of shortcuts make it easy to use. Music
shortcut key (as on w800i). Also dedicated shortcut keys to look at
the picture album. Video calling on this phone is impressive, but can
be expensive. The look of this phone will obvioulsy appeal more to people
as well (as opposed to the w800i which really stood out!) Bad points;
I hated the software that came with the w800i and unfortuanately it
also comes with this phone. The usb conncection is slow and unreliable,
d2p is simply rubbish and very limited in terms of what you can do.
The earphones supplied are much worse than those that came with the
w800i! No memory card supplied, and a 1gb i recently bought cost me
£60! The battery life is drained very quickly when using the camera
or mp3. Overall i would say the camera is fantastic, the mp3 is tosh,
and the rest is simply average.

I absolutly love this phone!Got the Sony Ericsson 2 days ago and i still
hav'nt been able to put it down!The camera is amazing at 3.2 mega pixels
with a brilliant zoom and focus option.A downside is the video which
is a little pixalated which you wouldn't expect from such a high quality
phone, however it is still brilliant.I love the sleek stylish design.Sony
Ericsson's aren't generaly my type, im a samsung fanatic, however i
think this time i've been swayed for good!

This really is a fantastic phone. No major differences from my old K750i
but there are minor tweaks that make all the difference. The camera
is truely amazing. Call quality is very good, as are most of the functions
on the phone. Easy to use and high build quality. This really does put
other mobiles in the shade. Sony Ericsson are certainly at the top of
the tree!!!

I am another of these people who likes to change his phone every year
and up to this year I have been a NOKIA only person as I have enjoyed
their reliable and quality phones. Having read all the reviews I chose
this year to go for the K800i and without doubt this is the best phone
I have ever had. Despite not being familiar with the joystick use or
the menu I found it very easy to get used to and the joystick makes
navigating around the phone an absolute dream. I highly recommend this
phone to anyone who wants high quality, loads of functions and ease
of use. Well done Sony you have won me over!!

Had this phone for about two weeks and it is brilliant however I am
now having problems, The USB usually fails half way through transfer,
the golf game freezes for a good few seconds most times, it has now
stopped storing any numbers that have been dialled recieved or missed
(very annoying). It drops A LOT of calls and also no longer allows video
calling any more although it did at first, these problems may be network
issues. On the whole this phone is great for features, looks, feel but
the software is now looking rushed and I am fast running out of patience,
have I got a bad egg, is it just me?? I feel bad for having to rate
my new phone so low.

Moved from an XDA IIi and am blown away by the quality of this little
phone. Tremendous! It appears to be highly reliable (unlike my old LG!)
and provides me with more simple functionality than I could hope for.
Anyone who's not sure about this phone - just buy one, I don't know
how anyone could be dissapointed with this. Takes great shots in the
gym and when recording video in a nightclub it adjusted for flashing
lights like you wouldn't believe. Absoloutely awesome phone... thanks

i have just bought this phone on sim free it was really expensive (£400)
but i don't mind because the phone is worth that it has a superb camera
the best on the market the 3.2 megapixel camera the video is superb
too the screen is crystal clear and the cyber shot is a fantastic idea
i recommend this phone to everybody buy buy buy it right now don't miss
the opportunity.

this is a reply for 'bri' from the 4th july. this phone is outstanding.
i have had the sony ericsson k750i, the se f500i. the samsung d600,
the lg p7200, the lg u8120 and i know someone who has the nokia n70
and had the samsung d500. and i think out of all of those 7 phones the
sony ericssons have been the best, i am so glad that i purchased the
se k800i, its a super quality phone with big features like the camera
which is a big selling point, but its the little things that make it
excellent aswell like the vibration and changable message tones, and
the fact its a candy bar phone so now i can buy cases to protect it,
thats why this is not just phone of the year but PHONE OF THE CENTURY!!!!!

Who's a happy chappy then. I've had this phone 2 days but only had time
to really play with it today. My history: I've upgraded from an N70
after being a diehard Nokia user since about the analogue 101, and on
digital since the Nokia 4.0 on Orange. I had a year break on a Motorola
Startac and hated the menu/OS so badly that going to a Nokia702 was
a joy. After upgrading from a 6230 to an N70, my marriage to Nokia took
a serious blow, and I started fantasizing about other phones. God job
I read the reviews here cos Orange let me upgrade early FOC to the K800i,
my first Sony and my goodness it's a joy. After the N70's clunky Sybian,
this was almost like going back to the ease of use of an older Nokia,
but with more capabilities, natch. The camera is stunning and still
to be tested fully; the only time it did not impress was in poor lighting
over a fair distance (kids school play), but macro pics are astonishing.
I was unable to import my contacts easily from Nokia software to Sony,
but it seems the Nokia software caused the most difficulties. I've always
been happy with the sound on Nokias, but now this SE has put them to
shame. I could go on all night but consider this; I've read the reviews
on this site for the last 2 years at least to help me choose upgrades.
This is the first phone that has actually made me want to write a review
in its praise here. It's worth it. So are you.... get one!!!111!!1!

Good Phone .. However problems im having are the instruction manuel
is poor which currently is preventing me on finding out if the phone
actually offers 3D sound. As personally i find the sound quality poor.
Camera is the best thing about this phone asides that i don't believe
this phone has anything more worth while to offer than other phones.
And for all music fans out there i have serious doubts about this phone.

LET ME TELL U .this phone is the best out on the market,it is a 3g phone
with 3 megapixels.the sony ericsson camera is better than nokia camera,
it is clearer than any our brand of phones better resloution,they relly
out did it with the k800i the battery last very long even when u leave
the camera on ,i had left my phone in my pocket with the camera on about
an hour and half and it was full battery it is a nice mp3 player better
than w800i or w810i,it is classy with the design,does not look cheap
at all a big screen better than the n90i the n90i is shit hard to control,IT
HAS BEST PIC AND THAT IS EXCELLENT

NOOOOO!!! I upgraded this phone from my W900i and what a BIG mistake!
Sure, the camera has flash, 3.2m camera (which is hardly noticable to
the W900i camera pics) and BestPic (which you will hardly ever use because
it takes too long to pick which 1 you want and hardly makes a difference
anyway) but WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VIDEO QUALITY?!?!?! the video it takes
is almost half the size of my w900i videos and plays at only 10fps (considerable
loss to the 30fps of my w900i!) other than that, it's a pretty good
phone, not much difference in size from the chunky w900i, though :(
i miss my w900i...

Had the k800 a couple of weeks now and while it is a very good phone
there a a few things to irritate.In it's favour - the screen is big
bright and clear. The camera is amazing which can be used effectively
on auto but has numerous other settings for lots of control. The RDS
radio is very good too with the supplied headphones giving great sound.The
joy stick is easy to use. The short cuts to silent mode or other applications
and settings is good too. Not so good - the headphones can only be used
to answer/end incoming calls. Unlike my previous Nokias which can also
scroll thru preset radio stations or mp3's or be used to make voice
activated calls. This is a pay more option from Sony E. The camera lens
cover seems a little flimsy and can too easily be opened accidentaly.
They seemed to have a better system on the older phones. Shame also
there was not a memory card included, though the phone memory is quite
generous. While ok the organiser is not as nearly as easy to use nor
has as good options as the Nokia 6230 had. The key pad is not the best
for texting but does have very easy access to turning the predictive
function on and off. Overall, really a very good phone indeed but with
a few minor adjustments could have been an awesome phone.

Just got this phone I was searching for a new phone liked the nokia
N70 no moto V3i no moto V3x I wanted a phone with 3G, 2 camera's, good
camera, MP3 player,and very good battery life searched high and low
and finally found the k800 ossum phone WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have been a lover of Samsung for the past few years but have finally
got bored of them. i recently got the Nokia N91 which turned out to
be the worst phone ive ever had apart from its size that didnt bother
me to much the camera lacked a flash the software crashed at least 4
times a day, it would just turn itself off. i took it back heart broken,
they said why not try the new sony ericsson i said no way i had an early
SE and it was awful, he kept going on about it so i gave in and im so
glad i did, its a joy to use. the only down side is the software disc
you get doesnt work, but over all i cant fault the phone at all.

I have never had a Sony Ericsson before and was due to upgrade my samsung
but as I did not fancy the touch screen I took the gamble and went with
the K800i and I honestly think it is great. It is very easy to navigate
around, texting is quick and simple and I personally think the camera
is fantastic. It is not the smallest of phones but fits in my handbag/pocket
fine and looks good. I really would recommend it. Really pleased!

i have owned my k800i for one week and i am currently on handset number
3,the first handset kept freezing during internet and game time and
have lost count of how many times i have had to turn off and restart
to eradicate this problem. The software disk that came with the phone
didn`t fair much better either the PC suite and disk to phone programs
would load with lots of errors. after visiting sony ericsson website
for the software from them the same kept happening after downloading
from them.Handset number 2 did not shape up any better the PC suite
would still not load and finally after the disk to phone software was
loaded the PC would not recognise the new hardware ie- the k800i after
pluggin phone into the USB cable ,phone returned yet again. Handset
number 3( hopefully 3rd time lucky)not a chance,i was unable to send
e-mails from this phone ,i could connect to the internet but could not
download any ringtones ,games ,or pretty much any thing else for constant
error messa ges being displayed, after spending four hours back at the
store were contract was taken out and various telephone calls from the
store personnel to service providers ,technical help centres and at
one stage even GOD my situation was still not progressing.Conclusion
will be that the phone will be returned to store contract cancelled
and a new handset and service provider will be chosen.i hoped it was
just bad luck and probably a dodgy handset but THREE times,SORRY NOT
FOR ME.

I have had the k800i for two weeks and still i can not put it down ,
I am truly amazzzzed by it.Firstly the camera quality is more than i
expected and this is after owning a N90 for nine months (brick or what),secondly
how easy to use it is one flick of the joystick and you can start texting
flick it the other way and your into your files and what a crowd puller
it is .You only have to pull it out of your pocket and your surrounded
by would be models (nice work)i have said a enough its going to be a
legend.

This is my first high end phone. i never realize how good of the sony
ericsson produce the phone. Camera, mp3, radio, screen resolution, design,
battery life.... all are fantastic... my prevous phone is t610.... that
is a awful phone...

Upgraded my K750i to a Samsung E900 and promptly changed to a K800i
after hearing of its release. The K800i is far superior to any other
phone on the market and phone manufacturers will find it extremely difficult
to beat this phone in any aspect. The E900 is awful compared to the
K800i, i'm very glad I exchanged for a K800i

I just picked up the K800i and I have to say I am very, very impressed.
After years of Nokia handsets, and a dabble with a Samsung D500, this
is the best phone I have ever used. The menu and functions on the handset
are so easy to get around, and the camera is on a par with my Olympus
didgital camera. The different shooting modes are the bestI have ever
seen on any phone. The speed of the phone is great, and there is so
much you can do to keep yourself occupied. The only down side is that
the phone doesn't come with a memory card, but you can't have everything!

my first phone was the Ericsson 628 which i loved, even though it is
so primitive compared with the new crop on the market. change to several
nokia's, and one bad mistake with a motorola, but i returned to Ericsson
and have now upgraded to the Sony Ericsson K800i. Suberb phone, PLUS
POINTS-loads of features, 3.2 mb camera, mp3, radio, speaker phone,
bluetooth. Nice clear screen and easy to use menu and buttons. Can now
play mp3 files as ringtones, cool. CONS- No memory card with vodaphone,
and the camera although very good, the quality is still disappointing,
i feel nokia have the edge on this bit.

i aint gonna say much just this-i checked out all of the phone spec
and other leading phones e.g. nokia n80 and if you are goin to get a
phone let it be this 1, put your worries away I GUARANTEE 100% that
this phone is the best on the market and wont steer you wrong,buy it

I ummmed and ahhhed about which phone i should get for a good week,
at the last minute i chose this one due to past experience of sony ericsson
being great and my complete boredom and frustration with nokias. all
i have to say is i am so so so glad i chose this phone. im not completely
sold on the overall apperance but that completely goes out the window
when seeing the quality of this phone. the camera is excellent, great
games and features and no prblems at all with calls, sms' etc which
i seemed to find all the time with nokias lately.. highly recommend
this phone with out a doubt!

This is the best phone i have ever had i recenlty had the w810i which
had a software fault and o2 advised me because i only had the phone
25days i could change to the k800i which i did and what can i say this
phone rocks its got the best picture i have seen on a mobile phone and
its plays mpeg4 files awesome get 1 you will not regret it.

I admit it,i have an illness,i'm so addicted to phones that i change
them every few weeks but i think things will change now i have this
phone.I have actually found a phone that i will be able to keep for
a long long time.I used to be a samsung freak but now im smitten with
SE.There's so much more features on their phones compare to samsung,such
as themes,pictures,and message tones which is great as with samsung
you're stuck with the crap ones provided.The camera is excellent with
loads of ways to customise your pics,slighty dissapointed with the video
on it though,very pixcelated and not what you expect on a 3mega pixcel
camera phone but it's no big deal after all "it's a phone"first and
camera second.The screen is very clear and the call quality excellent,and
the thing i love most is that the batteries on SE phones last for ages
unlike other brands.The joystick is great and the buttons are really
nice to text on too.There is so much to do on this phone it will keep
you hooked for a long time,trust me.My only critisism is that maybe
it's a little bigger than other se models out at the mo ,not a brick
by any means but just a little bigger than the ones i have had recently.So
what you all sitting there reading these reviews for,after one or two
you should see it's excellent and once you buy it,you will love it.(just
a tip,get it on o2 as it's the only one thats generic in which you can
put any sim in,all the others will have their own software and will
be locked to that network) have fun with this baby,yes you will i guarantee
it.

I waited and waited for this phone to come out as i was looking to upgrade
from my D500 to something brand new. All i can say is i am so glad that
i did! I was very tempted to just go and get the E900, which also appears
to be a quality phone, But i can safely say that the K800 is just immense!
First of all the camera is just superb, i no longer need to take a digital
or normal camera with me anywhere (To gigs etc) as the 3.2Mp camera
on this phone is crystal clear. The screen is a superb size and the
quality and colours produced are comparable to a PC! The phone is easy
to use and the sound quality also excels. The size of the phone is very
good considering all the features it posseses and will easily fit into
any pocket as it is very slim and only slightly larger than the K750.
All i can say is that i highly recommend this phone to anyone! I personally
was not bothered about whether or not it could play music, but with
the option of a memory card, you are able to store tons of music on
it as well! This phone will no doubt dominate the 2006/2007 market with
considerable ease.

Superb phone. Amazing clear screen, top resolution at 320x240. 3GP/MP4
video runs at this resolution as well (in landscape) though can't persuade
it to run anything not 15fps. Provided headset is great with good bass
resolution; audio quality of calls very good. Camera good and images
best I've seen on a phone, but my 4 year old Cybershot camera is better
(superior lens I suspect). Easy to use, great to look at. I get crowds
round the phone everytime I use it... :-)

I got the K800i free on 02 because I gave up on the Nokia 6280, which
I had to change 4 times!!! I could not be happier that the 6280 broke
down because it gave me the opportunity to get the K800i. This has to
be the best phone I have used by far!!! The picture quality is outstanding,
contact entry straight forward, but classy and there are just so many
things to find on this phone that it is amazing. This is the first sony
ericsson phone I have purchased and it won't be the last!!! Don't worry
about no memory card it comes with 64mb integral memory anyway. I luuv
it, luuv it, luv it, luv it, luuv it!!

Great phone, so easy to use i didn't think it would be but it is and
it has everything I want in a phone, only problem is when i call people
i can't hear them well so i always have to use the speaker phone plus
my phone won't get songs off my computer so that sucks, the software
just dpesn't work! In all though fantastic phone and would recommend
it to anyone x

This is my first Sony Ericsson phone after being with Nokia / Sharp
& Samsung in the past, I got it free from o2 on a 12 month contract,
its nice and easy to use once you get the hang of it, Camera is superb,
Mp3 is good, couldn't get the pc software to work properly and cannot
get the phone to work on the pc through the usb port, the manual actually
is very basic and doesn't tell you about a lot of the stuff on the phone,
I am trying to set the pincode and it doesn't tell you anywhere what
the default is.....Anyway a welcome surprise for my first Sony Ericsson
and would reccomend.

Suberb phone, best i've used and believe me i upgrade alot! Agree with
Paul's review on 4th July on how easy it is to use, i haven't looked

this phone is awesome!!! has all the features you would expect out of
a top-class phone e.g bluetooth, mp3 player, video capture etc etc and
the camera is outstanding? who needs a digital camera anymore with a
fantastic 3.2 megapixel camera on the back of ur fone! the only downside
to the fone is there is no memory stick included in the box so u have
2 buy your own, but apart from that an absolutely brilliant fone!!

The Sony Ericsson K800i is the best phone at present known to man. with
such lovely features, I just couldn't resist not buying it! It's cool.
My only regrets? The video is still primitive. A mere Maximum video
resolution of 176x144 pixels at 15 fps rate. Why? Phones like the Samsung
D600 and Nokia N90 go at higher resolution of 352x288 pixels. It's still
worth buying. I give it 4 stars just for this deficiency.

Great Looks, build quality and camara. Only one downer - the joystick
can dig in to your thumb if used constantly as you will do when getting

love this phone !!!! my previous phone was a k700i and never had a problem
with it so i thought i would give sony another try glad i did, camera
is amazing and really easy to use if you have never had a sony before
. i just have a question if anyone can help me on my old phone i had
pictures of people attached to their numbers so when they texted or
called their photo flashed up however on this phone only when someone
calls me there photo comes up but a text just shows there name is there
anyway to change that ??

Decided to move back to Sony after having a nokia phone for two years.
I am very impressed with the K800i, it has just about every feature
you could ask for in a mobile, cracking photo technology, quick and
responsive OS, nice clear screen, good quality sound on calls, and easy
to use key pad. Its great for an MP3 player also, just buy the 1gb memory
stick and you can easily store 30 - 40 albums on it. Only slight complaint
is using all the functions drains the battery pretty quick, on full
charge and repeated use, normally lasts 2 1/2 days, but only takes an
hour to fully charge again. Highly recommended!

WHAT A PHONE FREE ON 3 this phone is phoneominal! cheapest you can get
a Sony CYBER-SHOT camera is for approx £80, and that will be bottom
range. we are talking 3.2 mega pixels, and all the full sony support.
the power of this phone is amazing, stick to in a country side and it
would have pillons coming away from it! MR.BLAIR stop the nuclear fuel
program, get a few of these babys

Wow. Just wow. This phone really does rock the big one. Camera is astounding,
all the features are there which are useful. Keypad's well laid out.
This is the perfect upgrade from my K700i. I'm happy with it! I recommend
it to anyone with an older phone, if you've got the K750i, you may not
feel much of a benefit. Cheers.

Got the phone FREE on 3 with Double minutes and texts for 12 months
of the 18 month contract (600mins and 2000 texts). Origignally I ordered
a Nokia N80, it arrived and the build quality was the worst Ive ever
seen on a Nokia. The memory flap would not stay in and the card kept
comming out, the back came off in my hand and there was NO WAY it was
gonna last 18 months. So I cancelled and then went back with 3 with
the K800i, and all I can say is WOW!! What a phone, its lovely, no stupid
sliding keypad (so I can get a decent case) the build quality is solid,
the camera is brilliant, the mp3, the OS, its simple and intuitive and
im very very very happy with this phone! LONG LIVE SONY ERICSSON!!

Believe what all the others are saying! a brilliant and well thought
out phone it has everything you could want and amazingly it is easy
to use -i've not had to refer to the manual once just used it straight
out of the box (I did have a T610 a couple of years back).

DO NOT Bother, i had a k750i which had numerous serious faults, joystick
failure, software failure, memory slot failure etc etc, my k800i upgrade
is just the same, waste of money :-(

By some margin the best phone on the market today. Build quality is
outstanding, the camera is great, the OS is a cinch to use, comms like
bluetooth work brilliantly, address book fab, just the best thing ever.
So much better than Motorola's over complex OS, Nokia's suspect build
qualty. For those that criticise the fact that it doesn't have high
definition video, - big deal. So you use the video function all the
time do you ? din't think so. Get back to the real world and buy the
best phone ever made.

Just 'upgraded' to the k800i from the w800i. Immediately impressed with
the phone....fucntionality is all there and then some...'cybershot',
bestpic, blog......damn fine phone. Buy it....you wont regret it!

i have just got this phone after returning my nokia N80 which by far
is the worst phone i have used in a long time, the quality of nokia
handsets is going dowwn a slippery slope, the k800i is by far the better
handset, for some time since the release of the k700i SE standards have
gon through the roof, the 3.2 megapixel camera is amazing the memory
cards i was told they were next to impossible to get hold of but i have
found 1 within the space of an hour, just visit www.mobilefun.co.uk
and they aren't that expensive either, the xenon flash on this phone
is also 1 of ts great features, i have to hold my hands up2 sony erricson
they are by far the best manufacturer and have the best range of devices
on the market, if you want my advice get this handset you won't be dissapointed,
i shall now run along aand wait for the next release in the K seris
which i know will be a great device.

This is the first Sony phone I have had, I'm usually a Nokia man as
they are so user friendly, but I got this Sony due to the 3.2 mega pixel
camera on it, as my dig camera had broken. That aside I really like
this phone, it takes a bit of getting used to compared to the Nokia
6600 phone I am used to, but the design, the features and the general
usability and quality of it are 5 star.

this fone is gr8 better than Nokia coz 1 of the Nokias with a 2mp camera
is over £200 pounds and this phone has a gr8 fone it is a lil expensive
but you can get the sony ericsson K750i with a 2MP camera for as little
as £100 pounds. Sony ericsson are gr8 nower days they used to be rubbish
also Motorola phones havent got up to 2mp yet there still on 1.3mp but
i do like motorola i had that phone before i had a sony ericsson and
as soon as i have the money for this phone im gettin it straight away
and i mean that - and someone else said the video isnt that gr8, so
wat?? wat du u need with a gr8 video camera?? ((ITS A GREAT CAMERA instead))
So i give this fone a 5 star (Outstanding from any other fone) BUY THIS
FONE!!! And if you have any probs with it then its not the fone its
you... GR8 PHONE ONCE AGAIN!

I've been using the K750 for the last 12 months and after experiencing
the amazing camera on that i was really looking foward to getting my
hands on this which has both 1mp more to the resolution and the cybershot
brand on it. Well, after using it for 4 days now, i can say that i'm
utterly disappointed. The camera has a few extra settings on it but
that's about it. The actual quality is in fact a little worse than K750
and is only made up for it with the higher resolution. The phone itself
is much bigger and heavier. The only good point is the display which
is a massive step up from the K750 but not the likes of D600 or 6280.
If you like SE you will like this but i still prefer my K750 which has
yet to let me down.

Unbelievable phone, i had a k750i and didnt think a phone could get
much better, but this thing is amazing. It does everything and the quality
of the CyberShot 3.2mp camera is outstanding. This is the phone I have
been waiting for all my life!!! Voice quality: 5/5 image quality: 5/5
screen: 5/5 ease of use: 5/5 looks 5/5 size 4.5/5 (well you didnt think
they could fit all this in a small packet? its about 1/2 inch bigger
than the k750i, so not too big at all, fits in jeans pocket nicely)
overall: 5/5 Just buy it, compared to Sony-Ericsson, Nokia have lost
the plot.
