In a nutshell:
The K610i is a very lightweight and compact 3G phone equipped
with video calling, a 2 megapixel camera, stereo music player and
a memory card slot for storing plenty of music. It does suffer from
a small keypad, no flash on the camera and some models have a tendency
to freeze or shut down, so be careful when buying.
The
Sony Ericsson K610i is a slimline featherweight 3G phone. Thinner
and lighter than either the Motorola V3X or the LG U880, the K610i
sets the standards for compactness in the 3G world (the Samsung
Z510 is thinner but heavier). Available in red or silver, it's an
attractive, conventional-looking phone with a nice keypad (large
fingers watch out!) and thankfully a 5-way navigation key instead
of Sony's horrible joystick that makes an appearance in some of
its phones.
The
K610i ticks most boxes, with its stereo MP3 player, 2 megapixel
camera, video calling, memory
card & Bluetooth. But still, we're left a little unsure
what the K610i is for. It's not got the best camera, it's not a
Walkman phone, it's not packed with business features - it's just
small. Presumably it's targeted at women more than men. So if you're
looking for a compact phone filled with features, but not the best
in any particular area, the K610i could be your phone. It certainly
does most things that most people want from a phone.
There
are a few faults with the K610i: as mentioned above the keypad is
rather small and fiddly (especially for man-size fingers); there's
no flash with the camera, so forget photography at night; and it
does seem to have a tendency to shut down or reboot, as reported
by several users. The Sony Ericsson
V630i is a Vodafone-exclusive version of the K610i with some
additional music features such as Vodafone RadioDJ. For a more reliable
alternative to the K610i, you might consider the clamshell design
Z610i, which is highly rated,
or the more upmarket W880i
- the ultra-slim 3G Walkman phone.
The
Sony Ericsson K610im is exactly the same as the K610i except that
it also has i-mode. i-mode is a new and more convenient way to access
the internet from a mobile phone. You can use i-mode to browse web
sites or to send mail via iMail.
Features
of the Sony Ericsson K610i include:

only seems to be when i'm talking to someone and i press the camera

awful. Bought new in August 2006 and went wrong after only 5 weeks.
The phone would not switch on and would not respond to any directions
given by supplier. Returned and replaced for new handset. 2nd K610i
lasted a little longer at 18 weeks. Same fault as the 1st one. Returned
and replace. Now have my 3rd K610i and will not accept a fourth.

I have had this phone for a month and its certainly the best phone
that I have had, I couldnt ask for a better phone. I have bought
a memory card for my phone, so I now have over 300 songs on it which
I can use as a ringtone or a text tone. Also, you can transfer everything
from your phone to your laptop through the USB port thats provided
and vice versa. So any songs that are on your media player they
will be converted from wave to mp3 and can be used as a ringtone.
Also any photos or videos you have on your phone can be transferred
to your computer so you can save them or save the photos to disk
and get them printed out. The camera doesnt have a flash with it,
that is the only drawback of the phone, but so far its not really
bothered me too much. I had an older sony ericson phone a few years
back and the screen and cover did tend to scratch easily, but so
far I have not found this with this phone it seems to be of a very
good quality. I would certainly recommend this phone to anyone thinking
of buying it. I did orginaly want the phone in red but vodafone
told me that red was only avaliable abroad, and the only colour
that was in this country was silver, im not sure how much truth
is in that statement but thats what I have been told. If anyone
is looking for a new mobile phone this is certainly the one to get! Rating:

guy says how this phone can't support headset. It does mate.It supports
bluetooth headsets and in fact it has some programm wich makes sound
quality perfect (that i can assure you about from personal experience).
Anyway, imo this is the sexiest phone around.I don't care about the

having it replaced for like 4 times. Now mate let me give you an

I got this phone as an upgrade from my lovely Sony Ericsson W550i
which is a truely wicked phone. This was meant to a simple replacement,
simply to get a good tariff for a cheap price. On reading the reviews,
I was slightly put off but I decided to give it a try. I think that
the phone is very stylish and attractive and the features are great!
The camera is sharp and quick to take photos and the video is smooth
and of good quality. The one thing I was a little dissapointed by
was the battery life, averaging aroung two days if ur lucky, and
as someone who uses their phone a lot, I only seem to be getting
those two days ... Just. At first I was disappointed about the memory
as it too is minimal, however, on discovering that the phone can
take a 1Gbyte memory card, I am far happier. Overall, if you don't
mind charging the phone every two days, it is a very pleasing phone
indeed! Rating:

When I first got this due to a great deal on 3 I couldn't help feeling
dissapointed. I previously had a w800i walkman phone and there was
less memory, no autofocus or flash on the camera, and no radio.
However having now owned it for a few months I have to say that
it nothing short of brilliant! The reception is brilliant, nearly
always have 3g reception and in the few areas where there isn't
there's a good 2g signal. The sound quality, a dissapointment on
normal settings is brilliant for a phone once you tweak the equaliser
and the whole thing is a doddle to use. Texting is brilliant, the
internal speaker is clear for voice calls, the camera's quite good
for a phone (the w800 autofocus was better but never good enough
to replace my digital camera so not such a bad omission), java is
brilliantly supported, and its been as reliable as a swiss watch.
After an SPV 500 smartphone I'm pleased to own a phone rather than
a computer. The whole thing just feels like its been designed to
use as a phone and add an M2 1GB card for about £40 and its an ipod
replacement too. Only two downers, slightly poor battery life on
3g (was to be expected), and no radio. But pop onto ebay and you
can get a handsfree kit that doubles up as a radio for less than
a tenner. And did I mention that is from sony, stereo, looks the
part with its illuminated blue screen and automatically switches
off when you receive a voice call. Problem solved. I previously
wrote a review saying the loudspeaker sounded tinny for music! Tweak
the equaliser and its one of the best available! So the comment
no longer applies. Why sony decided to put it on such awful default
settings is anyones guess but doesn't take much effort to get it
sounding very good for a mobile. Rating:

My much loved K700i went wrong under warranty and Virgin sent me
out a K610i instead as a replacement. It makes a very good case
for itself, with one glaring exception. Here are my impressions
of it: It's attractive to look at and a really nice phone to use.
There's a clear, bright, screen and a nice feel to the buttons.
It's got intuitive clear menus. The camera is absolutely fine for
what it is -- I have a 7 mp Nikon for when I want to take proper
pictures! The sound is very clear. This phone has almost everything
I want from a phone (I do want a phone with Bluetooth, Handsfree,
Sound Recorder, Camera and Triband and this is the reason I can't
stay at the budget end of the market). But the only thing it really
should have is an FM radio -- I can't understand why SE would make
such a nice little phone and then leave off something that would
have been so cheap to include. I'm in my mid 40s and I buy phones
for practical reasons rather than to follow fashions. I like this
one because "it does exactly what it says on the tin". Despite not
having a radio it's won me over and I think it still deserves 5
stars -- though only just. Rating:

There are several good things about this phone. Its very light,
easy to use, and I like the stereo earphones that came with mine.
The screen is good and its quite similar to a w800i I had before
(k610i has better screen, slightly worse camera). Reception seems
good and I'm on 3, which isn't known for being the best in this
area. The best thing is the m2 memory card. I can see these replacing
hard disks. How can one get 1GB of data onto something smaller than
a 5 pence piece? If you can get 1GB onto that, on something the
size of say a phone battery you'd have 10GB. 10GB on a phone, now
that would be cool! And with no moving parts you could have much
better battery life than with a hard disk phone. M2 cards are however
not cheap, £40/Gigabite is a bit steep. The worst thing is that
it doesn't have a radio, and the sound quality out the loudspeaker
is a bit tinny. Overall quite a good phone, if you want a bargain
contract (£10/month for 800 free mins to any network anytime, and
500 texts, is pretty good in my book!) then its a good buy. Rating:

This is what I think of the Sony Ericsson K610i. Camera & Video:
The camera quality is excellent in good light, but no camera light
so photos in dark come out a little grainy. Video quality is surprisingly
good wen viewed on phone screen. Effects and frames liven photos
up and facewarp application is hilarious. Music Player: Phone comes
suppied with Disc2Phone software which makes putting songs on phone
a piece of cake. Sound quality from loudspeaker is surprisingly
good but supplied headphones (with only 1 earphone!) are dissapointing.
Games: The phone has 2 games built in: Quadra Pop ( Very addictive)
and Tennis Muliplay (Superb graphics and can play others on Bluetooth!)
Screen Quality: The phone has a 262K screen which is very bright
and sharp and displays your pictures and videos very well. Menu
Layout: The layout of the menus makes the phone simple to use. It
is easy to understand and everything is well laid out. Design: I
think the phone looks great in whatever colour you choose. Mine
is white and looks fine. It is very compact and reasonably thin.
the keypad is arranged well and they have got rid of the horrible
joystick they used to use. Conclusion: If you are looking for a
reasonably priced phone which looks good and is packed with features
then this is the phone for you. Also, I got mine on Virgin Mobile
pay as you go for £149.99 and got £35 free credit. Just go onto
the Virgin Mobile website to bag yourself this great deal. Rating:

The phone functions are pretty good, & it's a real pity that no
built-in radio is included. The phone interface is fast & responsive.
Java games also seems slightly faster than a K750. The battery life
is acceptable, giving 3-4 days of usage b4 recharging. The reason
I'm giving it 3 stars is due to the less than ideal reception, as
I do get dropped calls in a moving train & also spotty reception
in certain built up areas. My old nokia 3100 with the same provider
had a much better reception. Rating:

I have just been sent this beautiful new phone from work. It is
incredible! My last phone they sent me was a K600i which I used
for a year and was very impressed with the phone and Sony Ericsson
in general. The K610i seems like a much smaller version of the K600i
but although it has got a better camera in terms of mega pixels
Sony Ericsson have dropped a few features. The first I noticed is
that they have removed the flash so don't even think about trying
to take pictures in the dark. They have also removed the FM radio
and Infra red port. However I think that as the phone has decreased
in size so much I am not bothered that these features have gone.
The K610i has much better buttons to use than the K600i did, the
buttons are much bigger and press deeper into the phone when you
press them to give a distinctive "click". BUT, this has one MAJOR
advantage over the K600i!! It takes a memory card so u can put loads
more MP3's on the phone, if you get a bigger memory card it could
rival the iPod. The phone still has all the other features, Bluetooth,
video streaming, 3G, Java, Calendar, Sync etc. I did have a few
problems installing the drivers for the phone as other reviewers
have said. BUT WAIT. I was just not reading the instructions. When
you install the drivers it CLEARLY advises you that windows will
not detect the drivers automatically and you will have to click
on install from a specific location and actually direct windows
to the folder where the drivers are stored, which should be C:\Program
Files\Sony Ericsson\K610 Drivers Once you have done this Windows
located the drivers and starts merrily installing every little feature
the phone does, and as the phone does so much it takes it's time.
I'm talking about installing Removable storage device, modem, and
virtual Ethernet and load more. Rating:

I test phones and write reviews here in HK. One brand has stood
out this year and it's Sony Ericsson. My wife liked the K610i so
much that I got her one and, well it's been great. It's light and
small. Menu's are easy to navigate and use. Texting is fine, somebody
mentioned about texting compared to the K800i - well there's no
difference! We have an expansive 3G network here and video calls
and online content are easy to use. Watching online tv works fine.
Here the phones are sold with stereo headsets and memory cards.
The only downsides are the video recording isn't great quality but
interestingly does have sound! The camera is fine with a steady
hand although no flash means it doesn't work well at night. But
then, with the exception of the K800 and it's xenon flash, most
phones don't. One other point to note is that the software that
was supplied with this phones works fine, in fact I have the software
for both the K800 and K610 loaded and it always knows which phone
is connected. Which brings me to my final point - USB charging does
not work until the software is loaded on the PC! Rating:

I've had this phone for about 3 weeks and been on O2 the same length
of time. Compared with T-mobile which I was on before with very
poor reception, Im astounded at the fact that O2 reception barely
moves from 5 bars - not sure how much of that is down to the phone
itself, but I can honestly say I've not had a single problem with
this phone and am surprised to read some of the other reviews on
here about it turning itself off. Good battery life and the quadrapop
game is addictive! ring volume is also very good and the hey beautiful
ringtone which comes with the phone always gets a reaction when
people hear it! Rating:

First problems with the phone started two days after I got it. Anyone
I was speaking to on the phone could hear themselves talking back.
Also, no matter what I tried the driver would not install on my
computer as it wasn't approved by microsoft. I received my new phone
today and the key tones don't work (all you hear is a hissing sound
from the speaker) and again, the software won't install. I'll be
sending it back and definitely not getting another one. Not sure
why my friends recommended sonys! Rating:

When i first got this phone, which i pre-ordered a week before i
was somewhat dissapointed with the design, but it grew on me. As
the phone had so many positives, e.g the picture quality and the
mp3 etc. as well as the calls being really clear. However, i noticed
that the video quality was poor, and picked up far too much background
sound, as well as when moving around too much during a video, the
video did not play (or did, with lack of sound and vision). As well
as, i could leave any other phone in my pocket for days, and it'll
be fine; with the k610i i could not leave it in my pocket/bag/side
for more then ten minutes at a time as it had a tendency to turn
it's self off. I will be sending my Sony Ericsson back later on
in the week, and hopefully i'll find a phone more satisfactory. Rating:

Had my new phone for about 3 weeks now and its just short of perfect!!!
Both my girlfriend and i have joined a contract with three that
works out at 10 quid a month each which you cant argue with seeing
as they gave us a new phone each and 50quid cash to!! The phone
though is great, had loads of nokias before and never had a problem
with them but decided it was time for a change. It took a bit of
getting used to as the buttons and the operating system are slightly
different but thats to be expected (especially as i had a Nokia
7610 with the offset buttons before).. Its got loads of really cool
stuff like the face warp and music dj to keep you amused.. I cant
fault it for not having the auto focus or flash because lets face
it at the end of the day its a phone, if you want perfect amazing
quality pictures then by a proper camera! There is only one thing
thats got on my nerves a bit and i would have given it 5 stars but
the battery life is a bit rubbish as i've had to charge it pretty
much every night.. Anyway if you can cope with that i thoroughly
recommend the phone.. Rating:

with no auto focus). The sounds are crysltal clear and the amount
of photo software that comes on the phone is brilliant. Battery
life is ok, lasts about 2days (with alot of use). I have downloaded

This phone is great. After my bad experience with SE w550i (white
screeneed), i switched to a Motorola L7 because of the form factor.
It didn't take me long to get rid of that phone because of the lousy
UI and the lag. Bought my k610i a few days ago and it's been great
on all fronts except: 1. Though the camera is 2mp, it is not as
good as other SE handsets because of the absence of flash and autofocus
2. Even worse, though there is absolutely no lag whatsoever when
texting, the buttons are not receptive in the sense that when u
want a letter "s" an "r" comes out. This is especially true for
those who text very fast. Thus, I always have to review, erase and
re-type a few letters in my message before sending -- something
that almost never happens in Nokia phones. Other than these problems
the phone works very well. Rating:

Of course, you need not buy this phone if you are looking for top
of the line features. You get less internal memory but you have
an expansion slot. No use comparing this phone to K800 or W800 or
Nokia9500 or K750 or HTC Universal. Bang for the buck! Rating:

After having the k750i for a year this was like a step backward
in terms of innovation as the camera is certified as a lower grade
and there is no auto focus or a flash also there is no lens cover
on the phone. The memory of 16mb is quite low compared to todays
standards and the pricy new range of m2 memory cards do not help
matters The mp3 player interface is nothing special and quite boring
feature wise, also the bundle does not ship with any headphones.
3g is just a novalty and coverage for the feature in uk is pants. There
seems to be lack of ring tones and generaly lacking in features
alround it almost seems the sony are rubbing the publics naive faces
in it by bundling together somthing that should of came out 15 months
ago quite simply becouse the price of the k800i is to much for some
people or they are unwise in the ways of the mobile phone - sure
its quite small compared to other 3g phones and it comes in fancy
red but when you start adding the cost of memory cards and headphones
ect its certainly woth using them extra pennys on the k800i which
is a fantastic feature packed phone that blows the k610i out the
water in every department. Rating:

THis phone is a perfect continuation on the mid range good every
day phones supplied by SE, previous examples being K700i and K750i.
There is just one problem, why o why do you have to put camras in
them, I had the K750i for a whole year and took a total of 10 pictures
when I was bored. Put in some fun games or include more memory or
even make the phone smaller and lighter. Camera for video calls
sure but the 2mp one, what a waste. You who complain at no autofocus

Got this phone on upgrade from o2 last week. Took a few days to
get used to as ive always been a nokia fan but fancied a change.
Anyway, now Im used to it I love it. Ive got the red version which
I wasnt sure I was going to like but I think it looks really nice,
a bit different from the normal (looks even better now Ive downloaded
a free red theme to go with it from www.esato.com, go to the K750I
or W800I and get the "metal cherry" theme, looks so good with the
red phone) The buttons feel nice once you get used to them (they
were a bit small at first for me)Speaker is nice and loud and MP3's
soud well through it. Video calls are nice and clear and the video
is good. The camera is very good although not up to the Auto focus
camera of other SE, quite grainy in low light. The only thing I
didnt like about the phone was how light it was, at first it feels
like a cheap toy, like its missing some weight to it to make it
feel right but im also used to that now. Overall a great little
phone which would have got 5 stars if had a flash and autofocus
(and the battery lasted a bit longer Rating:

When I first opened the box i thought wow...slick phone, light weight,
nice to look out etc However when I started using the phone I found
texing really difficult, compared to k750i or the k800i. The keypad
buttons seem a little different hence the difficulty in texing.
My phone initally kept crashing however I received a replacement
handset. I didnt bother seeing if this one worked and returned the
handset immediantly. Other features were quite impressive, such
as the media player, the speaker was very loud, and was quick to
connect a call. If your looking for a basic phone, I would recommend
this handset Rating:

Had this phone for a week now and can honestly say that it’s
the best phone I’ve owned. The beauty of this phone is that
it does whatever it set out do almost perfectly. The size and style
is great (I’ve got the white model), menus are fast and intuitive,
screen is bright and very clear. Sound is also good too. I’d
guess the walkman phones are even better (I’ve never actually
heard the sound of the walkman model) but the K610i is more then
good enough. A lack of auto focus and flash means that pictures
indoors can be a little grainy and not of the highest quality. But
once outdoors in sunlight the 2 mega-pixel camera has quality to
rival some of the lower-end 2MP digital cameras. There is also a
flash accessory that can be bought to enable better quality in poor
light conditions (available for about £15-20 on ebay). Ultimately
though if you’re serious about good photographs buy a digital
camera!!! I’ve never seen a phone that can rival even a half-decent
digital camera. Must mention the USB connection. As a Linux user
I don’t have the option to install the PC suite that comes
with most phones. But that’s no problem with this little beauty
because one you connect the phone to the USB port you have the option
(on the phone) to use the phone like a plug-n-play USB Disk drive.
So you just plug the phone in, open your file manager and start
copying/moving files across. Text messaging is up to the usual Sony
Ericsson high standard. Bluetooth works fine. Phone signal strength
is fine. The buttons are very nice to touch. They are neither to
hard to press or overly sensitive to touch. Just right. Overall,
very happy with the phone and can highly recommend it to all. Rating:

Fab phone, one of the smallest and sleekest 3G mobiles out there.
Having owned 2 Sony Ericsson's previously, I knew I'd be in for
a treat with this one. And I was! However, niggly things have made
me return the phone. 2 minor things really, which on a new phone
you would not expect (as both functions were on my previous 2 phones)
- 1) Not being able to zoom in on the camera before taking a photo
(however you can do this on the video camera) and 2) Not having
a light or flash to use making low light photo shots a no go area
(something which you'd expect on this phone considering its a 3G
phone). Otherwise, lovely phone, long battery life, and the usual
standard of build which has made Sony Ericsson one of my favourite
phone manufacturers. Rating:
