The Sharp GX30i is an enhanced version of the GX30.
Enhancements are improved Blutooth™ wireless support and MP3
player. The enhanced support for Bluetooth™ is a very welcome
addition. The GX30 suffered from only being able to connect wirelessly
to a Bluetooth headset or car-kit. The GX30i now has full Bluetooth
support for transferring data to a computer or another phone.
The basic specification is unchanged and includes
an integrated digital camera with a 1 Mega-pixel
CCD with 7 stage digital zoom and 5 picture sizes ranging from 858
x 1144 to 120 x 160 pixels.
To complement the camera, the GX30i features a high
resolution QVGA 240x320 pixel 262,000-colour LCD display measuring
2.2 inches. It also has a 65K colour external LCD.

For people having trouble getting the MP3 player to work all you
need is a Card Reader/Writer i got one from ebay at £7 including
derlivery then you install it then once installed place the sd card
in it and drag your mp3 file that you want and its done then you
can listen to MP3 on your phone!! its great!! real good quality! Rating:

i just bought this phone off ebay for 130 pounds and hav had it
4 bout 2 weeks and i have 2 say its fantastic. The camera is top
class and so iss video which is fantastic as i am still in school
and its greta 2 take snaps of ur mates. The ringtones are fantastic
with class sound. There is a way of getting ur fone to hav mp3 rings
tones off ebay 4 bout 2 quid. The size of the phone is great not
2 bulky and i actually like the size of it. Screen is crystal clear
and the photos come out great. Thanx for the improved bluetooth
the phone nw is probbly the best around but my dad has the samsung
d500 but i dnt care. All my freinds r in envy tht i have this phone
so i recommend u get it. U wont b dissapointed A* all the way 5

This is just the best mobile phone I've ever seen. GX30i is the

This is a great phone has a few down falls such as the mp3 player
only plays 1 song at a time but ive found that if you zip up a album
its fine. also the memory is to small need more room. Also dont
buy a data cable theres no point i brought 1 and still havnt got
it working u just need a card reader and a big sd card i got mine
of ebay bargin.Also the bluetooth is bad the only thing ive got
it working with is my head set ive tryed with my m8s they pick up
my phone but when u try transfering it never works if any1 can help

do ur own ring tones and videos all you need is a 3gp converter
and it will convert most video formats the converters are free do
a search in google or something. The ring tones you have to convert
it to midi there is a coverter for this as well but it is hard to
do sample some music then convert it but it does work. in total
not a bad phone good cam but you have to have a steady hand if any
1 has any good info on other ways to get videos and mp3 as ringtones

Okkk, I'm probably being really retarded here but how do you get
the MP3 player to work? It's doing my head in! The answer is probably
way down on the page here somewhere but to be honest I'm lazy and
I can't be bothered to scroll down that far :D Overall it's a pretty
good phone but why does it have to be so goddam confusing?! Not
that I'm complaining about a lie in but why doesn't the alarm go
off when the phone is on silent like most other normal phones? Once

Phone very good but bluetooth realy bad. could not connect to d500
or other gx30i's. Had this phone for a week now and already charged
it 5 times. You can't down load any videos or ringtones over 400k
and videos stall. Not what i expected from sharp. Phone going back
tomorrow and exchanged for a motorola v635. Also my mates gx30i
has exactly the same problems. hes changing his the day after. Rating:

well i got it 2day and hav had 4 gd phones when i got rid of my
last fone i decided i wanted a video and mp3 so i went to a vodafone
store and they talked me thru wat wld b the best option so i got
this fone and am very happy with it i havent been able 2 download
music and in my view th 12 seconds 4 videoing isnt the greatest

I have had a software reset twice, a new fone, a new sim, and a
new battery all in the space of 4 months. It has a mind of its own
and has had the boffs at vodafone scratching there heads. it constantly
diverts itself to answer fone without consulting me....how dare
it ....if anyone would like to know how far you can throw it from
a great hight then give me a shout cos mines going for red barron
status if it doesnt buck its ideas up. go buy one now and we can

This phone is annoying. CALLING: No loudspeaker function - Call
Durations and registers hard to access. TEXTING: CANNOT ADD WORDS
TO THE DICTIONARY (retarded) - Cannot change between predictive
text and normal text quickly while texting (nokia is one button)
- Texts disappear after they have been sent (to send the same text
again u have to find it and forward). RECEIVING CALLS: NO OPTION
TO SILENCE THE RING TONE EITHER "ANSWER" OR "BUSY". CAMERA: Quite
good quality, has trouble with movement. SPEED BUTTONS: No button
to directly start typing a text message or to access the calender
(both extremely handy and featured in Nokia phones). DATA TRANSFER:
I bought a data cable - DONT! The GX30i was not recognised by my
computer when i connected it to the USB cable and performed the
installation of the drivers. The installation never worked because
the computer could not find the drivers for the phone. In device
manager it came up with GX series but that was it. What you need
to do to make use of the mp3 player on the phone is buy a 512Mb
or 1Gb SD Card from Ebay(i got a 1gb for £41). Next you need
a SD card reader/writer (also ebay for about £5). This allows
you to change data on your sd card without using the phones data
transfer functions and it is a lot quicker. The bluetooth can only
transfer data to and from the phones internal memory (THIS SUCKS)
plus i could'nt get the phone to connect to my pc properly doing
this :S I'm stuck with this phone now. You don't need to be. Nokias

A good phone. The java o/s is easy to use and gives the nokia standard
a run for their money. Excellent camera, excellent screen reolution,
good mp3 player (a bit basic). Downsides: Sound format probs with
ringtones Video recording limited to 400kb! Not enough memory built
into the phone No handsfree speaker Poor communication software
for IrDA and serial - could do with a bit more capability Delay
in camera taking pics (half a second or thereabouts) Very poor battery
life (a problem with the GX series) VODAFONE have their sticky litte
mitts in the design of this phone - which means that they have limited
the capabilities of it to co-incide with their own marketing strategies.
It would be a god-send if sharp were t release a firmware update
which enable a lot of the functionality or improved the o/s to OUR
liking rather than vodafone's!!! hehehe. Overall a good phone though

I got the Sharp GX30i From Vodaphone on a monthly contract but was
not very happy with it.. the video was small and ran very slow,
MP3's could not be played with variable bit rates,no radio,could
not connect to my pc via Bluetooth. I think the only thing that
the phone had going for it is the 1 meg pix camera and the excellent
colour screen oh yes and the ease of Sharps now tried and tested
menu functions. Overhaul I was pretty miffed off. I used it for
a few days then returned it back to Voda and got the fantastic Sony
Erricson s700i which quite literaly knocks the spots of the Sharp
Gx10i... well sharp you could have made this phone a lot better

i do not think that this phone is any thing special, the mp3 cord
does not come with the phone and then costing over 45pound. the
camera does sound really good but the motorola v525 has a better
camera than this. DON'T GET IT the SONY ERICSSON S700i is the best

Only been using it 2 days and its made me angry already!. 3 basic
functions i wanted from a good fone is, 1,To be able to TEXT an
entry from my fone book to a friend (buisness card in the nokia
world), 2, Being able to make calls using a loud speaker (hands
free) and 3, spending money on a real tone to use as a ring tone
and to find out its been downloaded to MP3 which cant be used for
a ring tone!. My Wife has a Motorola V550 and it does the lot, very
easily. So me thinks Ebay is going to have a visit from me. 3/10

I've had my phone for approximately 11 months now and overall am
very pleased with it and agree with the majority of the positive
reviews given previously. However, I do have a couple of gripes,
the first being the organiser (or lack of), for some reason Sharp
have loaded a basic calendar and have failed to link this to the
alarm function, therefore, you are unable to set yourself reminders
for birthdays and events etc. Secondly, the MP3 player is great,
once you've discovered how to use it and spent more money on extra
devices such as data cables etc, also no stereo headphones supplied
and regluar earphones etc do not fit. Sharp have conveniently made
the plug smaller - you can purchase an adapter but this only renders
your stereo earphones to mono. I've tried endlessly to purchase
the Sharp stereo earphones for this phone but they are not stocked
in any stores and Vodafone have been unable to supply them. Also,
the MP3 player runs your battery life down very quickly. Another
gripe of mine is that you are unable to set the phone to play all
MP3 files in sucession once only, so you are unable to use this
as a sleeping aid as the player will just continue until it runs
out of battery. This is still a great phone to buy but don't be
fooled into thinking that because it has lots of features that they
all come ready to use. Once you've paid for the phone you still
have to fork out for all the rest of the devices to be able to use
it properly. (Answer to previous reviewer who had problems with
the prescriptive text - you don't need to keep changing the input
method everytime it brings up the wrong word - just use the up scroll

I bought this phone a few weeks ago and it's great the camera is
amazing, so clear and with the flash you can take pics when its
dark and there still really clear. One bad thing is I got the phone
unlocked so I could use 02 but i can't get GPRS or MMS to work so
I can't download anything or send/recieve picture messages :( Does
anyone know what i can do to get it working? Please email me on

This phone accepts a 1 Gb SD memory card and is very impressive.
The camera is great and the screen is fabulous. If you take pictures
with this phone and print them noone would know it was taken by
a mobile phone. Such is the quality of the 1 megapixel camera. The
picture quality is the best I've seen on a mobile phone, better
than the Nokia 7610 (the 7610 has better features though like MP3
ringtones, better video capture, speakerphone and longer video playback).
Overall a very good phone! It's a pity bluetooth cannot access the
memory card and is limited to 100 kb data transfer. Rating:

WOW what can I say? What a FANTASTIC phone, everything iabout it
is awesome. I got mine from my staff sales account at work so I
got it pretty cheap. I think the 1.0 megapixel camra is the best
feature by far. I took some randon pics both inside my house, outside,

I can honestly say this is the best phone I have ever owned, Nokia
have alot to live up to if they want to win me back as a customer!
The mp3 player is AMAZING; although I had to endure a bit of messing
around with an SD card reader, it was well worth it as the sound
quality is incredible with or without the earphones, such a shame
mp3s cannot be used as ringtones. The camera is first class; I previously
owned a Nokia 6600, which with it's 65,000 colour screen I thought
was good, the GX30i presents an unbelieveable 262,000 colour image,
need I say more. The reason I am singing the praises of the GX30i
is because not only does it have a host of very useful functions,
it performs those functions outstandingly well. I went to a Christening
a few weeks ago and rather than taking my digital camera I only
took my GX30i because I knew the 1 megapixel camera would be versitile
enough to guarentee me DECENT pictures. Likewise with the mp3 player,
I bought a 512mb memory card whic h can store roughly 150 tracks
at decent sound quality, so I no longer need my mp3 player because
I know the GX30i performs equally well. Despite the price I would
strongly recommend this phone, I stress again this is because the
phone performs outstandingly in all aspects of it's functionality.

This is a great phone with a great camera which takes great pictures.
The problem is the bluetooth cannot access the memory card and the
handset memory can only accept files that are 100 kb. So you cannot
download MP3 files onto the handset memory. You can download MP3
files through a SD memory card reader/writer with a USB cable. What
is the point of having a 100 kb limitation to the handset memory
if you can upgrade your memory card to 512 Mb? It also cannot play
MP3 ringtones. Overall a great phone with severe restrictions. Anyone
knows if the phone accept a 1 Gb SD memory card? Rating:

Love this phone. Easy to use for texts (most important thing for
me!) as keys are not stiff like some phones. Nice big screen. It
does need regular charging, though. Just a few questions... - Texts
- if the predictive text doesnt recognise a word, what is the quick
way of entering new word (currently am going thru Options, Input
Method, then changing method, typing the word in, only to do that
all over again afterwards to switch T9 back on. There has got to
be an easier way). - Someone mentioned in an earlier review about
setting up Light Colour to each group (ie, set work people as the
red light, friends as disco blah blah) - does anyone know how this
is done? - I am with Vodaphone. What is the cheapest way to download
ringtones/pictures. The store gave me a free $30 sim to use to download
stuff, and said it wld only cost me the $3.30 per picture/ringtone,
and wouldnt charge me until I confirmed I agreed to that charge
for the picture/ringtone... I downloaded 5 things, at $3.30 each
costs = $16.50 - yet at the end I only had $2.68 left on my $30
sim!?!?! Love the phone overall, though. Its my first flip phone,

I knew this phone was a winner from the moment I first looked at
the fantastic quality screen! The camera is crystal-clear and the
flash, powerful nightlight (which also doubles as a handy torch)
and large screen make them even better. Having the ability to send
emails and email the pictures to my hotmail account is great too,
as is the bluetooth feature. A brilliant buy, don't waste your money
on anything cheaper! Oh, and the photo-caller ID is good fun too!

A very good clamshell phone with many features including an excellent
camera. Unfortunately there are some downsides for those who like
their media: 1) The largest video file you can play is 400kb (yes
KB not MB even if you have a massive SD card) - in either .3gp or
.mp4 format, and there is no full screen option. 2) You cannot set
an MP3 (or a voice memo) as a ringtone without using a PC to cut
it to 10secs and convert it to a low quality, low volume .mmf file.
3) The only way to put games or other applications on this phone
is by downloading them, which costs. (You could upload your files
with a PC to a third party site then download them with WAP to your
phone I suppose!) Vodafone have for some reason imposed these limitations,
perhaps for copyright reasons, and are yet to release any updates
to allow the phone to reach its potential. Other than this the phone
is fairly good but a little bulky. The MP3 player does shine (up

The specs say that it can handle up to 512MB sd card, currently

** Uploading MP3's etc ** - To do this you need to buy a memory
card reader/writer. Get yourself a decent SD/MMC card as it takes
either and then simply drag & drop your MP3's onto the card and
play thru the speaker or hands-free. I got a 256MB SD card and reader/writer

Excellent bit of kit. Does exactly what it says on the tin. For
all the people who cant seem to figure out how the load MP3s onto
it, its really easy, but you need a SD card reader or USB cable
(card readers are about £8.00-£10.00 GBP from Ebay)
If you have a card reader to get MP3s on it, you must first insert
your new memory card into the phone and format it using the phone,
not your PC - YOU MUST DO THIS OR THE PHONE WONT DETECT A NEW CARD.
Then, put the memory card into the card reader, and just drag and
drop your MP3 files onto it. BUT they must be named in this format
: "Artist - Song Name" (without speechmarks) or again, they wont
be picked up by the phone. Just re-name them on the PC. Once you've
done that, open up the MP3 players - and thats it. It will play
them with our without headphones, but it does kick the battery life
into touch! Brilliant phone. Won't go back to Nokia I shouldnt think.

Ordered this phone from the internet and it was delivered to my
door the next day. 2 colour screens is a great touch and resolution
on inside screen is particularly good - partic when taking pix with
the 1.3 megapixel camera. Nice to get photos that finally don't
look like they were taken with a phone! Removable SD memory card
is v useful for extra memory space. Only flaw is that it's quite
chunky - but then what do you expect for a phone packed with this

A really good phone if your a phone lover. Good for taking photos
n having fun. The features are very good, got the phone yesterday
and im well impressed. Easy to use, vibrant and can be shown off
with all its features. 2 down sides, camera takes 0.5 second after
the button is pressed to take a pic, but is worth it wen u c it.
Also exterior screen isnt colourful, but shows the pics wen sum1s
phoning:) anuva gud feature.Previously i had the V525 it was good

Generally a good phone.Its bulkier than my old Nokia 6100,which
is only to be expected,but the screen is leagues ahead. The navigation
system is not as intuitive as the Nokia though. Some criticisms.Not
much choice of ringtones unless you download them, the screen icons
for signal strength etc are stupidly small given the available screen
size,the keypad does not illuminate very well and the charging socket
is a bit fiddly.Also I cannot find a way of switching on the speaker
so that it can be used hands free like the Nokia. Overall I could
not go back to the Nokia though. Highly recommended. Rating:

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Thats all i can say on this phone.
Go out and buy one today, you dont know what your missing. I have
been a Nokia fan for years and have just upgraded to this phone.
Flashing disco lights, real tones, animated wallpapers, excellent
battery life, excellent video capture and camera, assigned pics
and tones to each of your contacts, easy to use and comes with a

i have had the sharp gx30i 4 a month now and i can say its the best
fone i have had. the pucture pauses abit bit it is so clear and
good. disco light/lights are really gd. video i say could be abit
clearer as fones 4 cheaper have better video quality but this 1
can record 1 min videos and can save 301 on my memory card. overall
a good fone. but 1 thing. can this fone download music videos or
short clips or anything? as i herd it has but on vodafone live i

I like this phone with its fantastic camera and picture quality.
I also like the full bluetooth capability which is an improvement
from the GX30. I have two problems though, one is how do I transfer
data from the computer to the memory card. So far I can only transfer
data from the computer to the handset memory and from the handset
memory to the computer but not from the memory card to the computer
or computer to the memory card. How do you get music for your MP3
player when the maximum data to be transferred is 100kb when most
songs on the internet are at least 3 Mb. Please email me if you

i got this phone yesterday as a birthday present.This phone is truly
the best phone that is out. it has a brilliant camera(with flash
which most phones dont have)and it has a video camera which last
around a minute.its torch/flash is very powerful dont look into
it it might blind you. you can change the colour of the light including
disco which is all the colours flashing one at a time.you can set
a ringtone with a light so it flashes to the beat and it could vibrate
to the beat.i woul give this phone a 9.9 because i dont know how
to get songs on to its mp3 player(which i forgot to mention).the
looks of the phone are 10. i love the speaker next to the camera
because when your in a room it sounds like the sound is coming from
another place.the keypad is also nice.you can take pictures from
the volume key which doesnt make the camera shake as much. p.s you
can turn the torch on by holding the volume key for 2 seconds and
then letting go.you can change colour by pressing the volume keys(not
hold) and then you can turn it off by holding the volume key. i
would reccommend this phone to every one thats looking for a brilliant

I got this on a AU$30/mth plan with B because i wanted a camera
phone and all the reviews say this is the best one you are going
to get. I have found many good and bad points from using it 1 month.
You may read lots of negative things here, but it's always easier
to criticise than praise unless it's REALLY good. So keep that in
mind when reading this. My experience is with using Nokias, so that's
what i'm going to be comparing this phone with. Quality of photos
is pretty good compared to the horrible Nokia ones. There is some
blurring in the corners which is to be expected. White balance is
good if there is enough light. The LED light is pretty bright but
creates a ghostly effect on portraits. It can be set to bright or
medium using the volume keys, and you can also change the colour.
It makes a loud shutter sound every time you take a photo, but i
wish you can turn it off. If you don't remove the protective film
before using it photos have a white haze. There is no lens cover
so be careful youu don't scratch it. Taking photos is a little annoying,
press the button and there's 0.5 second delay which is really noticeable
in the photo taken. Make sure you hold it really still before and
AFTER you press the button, especially if you are indoors. It's
good that you can use the volume button to capture photos because
it is easier to press and doesn't shake the phone as much. As with
most camera phones, expect most photos to be blurry unless you seriously
take the effort to keep still. Press one button to activate the
camera function, and wait for the macro/telephoto reminder message
to go away (i wish i could turn it off). Closing the lid cancels
the camera function and also discards any photo is is trying to
save!! A 256Mb card should be enough for a long time because it
can take hundred of photos and it takes a while to save them. You'll
run out of batteries many times before you fill up the card. They
are transferred to your computer using a SD card reader (not included).
Same as MP3s, video, and audio files. Note that recording is limited
to short clips unlike some which just keep recording until the card
is full. There is no radio :( But you can put 128kbps MP3s on the
memory card. I haven't tried that yet. It has lots of gimmicky "image
editing" features like adding a moustache or border to a photo.
Browsing photos takes a while as it is slow to read from the memory
card to show a preview. It is quite a large phone and the antenna
is slightly annoying but you get used to it. The rectangular charging
plug is covered with a flimsy piece of plastic/rubber that doesn't
look like it will last too long. I like the round Nokia charging
plug much better. The charger is also badly designed, taking up
at least two power points because it is rectangular and long. There
are at least two speakers, one faces away from the phone next to
the camera which gives an interesting surround sound effect to beeps
and effects in smaller rooms because you think the sound it is comming
from somewhere else when the sound reflects off walls). And one
in the top facing you where you place your ear. Voice quality is
good, louder than Nokia. But ringtones are not as loud as Nokia
which use a separate buzzer. Battery performance is not fantastic,
using the camera maybe 1 hour before it runs out, 3 days average
with occasional calls, 6 days if you don't use the backlight and
no calls. I would recommend you charge every 1-2 days. 2 hours for
full charge. I like the charging indicator wich tells you in bars
where the current charge is at. The external LED light turns red
when it is charging, which is annoying if you want to charge and
take photos at the same time as you'll get a red glow from close
objects. All the little covers on the phone such as the SD slot,
headset plug, are all flimsy and hard to open. If you have big hands
be prepared for some frustration. The keypay is too low, you really
have to stretch your thumb to reach the keys, or hold the phone
really low near the bottom. The flip function doesn't answer the
call automatically like other phones (like the sliding Nokias).
It feels natural to talk as it is long enough to be closer to your
mouth. My biggest complaint is the phonebook. It's shocking. I uploaded
300 contacts from my Nokia using the software provided and Outlook
Express. I had to manully click each contact i wanted to add :(
Very annoyed that it takes 10 seconds to load the phonebook before
i can access anything. That really is unacceptable, my Nokia was
instant. Searching is also slower and worse than Nokia. You can
have multiple details for each person and a photo, although i haven't
tried that yet. The photos must be converted for use in the contact
list as it is a different size. So you take a photo, crop it, find
contact and assign photo. My second biggest complaint is that for
a phone with a mobile OS, it should be able to manage my data, right?
Wrong, it's hopeless at that. Bad at calendar, bad at contacts,
hopeless with messages etc. You can only use the standard message
folders (Inbox, Outbox, Sent, and some other ones). You cannot create
your own! I'm really not happy about that. My Noia 6510 can create
custom folders to manage 200-300 SMS. I can't imageine sticking
200-300 SMS into the Inbox then trying to find one later :( Very
annoyed about this. Also you cannot exit from a creating message
without discarding it. with Noia you can start creating a message,
use other menus, make some calls, and finish it later. Not with
the Sharp GX30i, you are in messaging mode or not. You are asked
if you have finished when you try to use other features. You can
close the lid and nothing will happen to the message, it just waits
for you to finish it. You can watch special Flash movies, as the
start up screen is Flash, but i haven't tried this on the internet
yet. But GPRS is expensive to watch movies and you can't play them
from the SD card :( Sofware on the CD is OK and it works, but don't
expect much advanced editing features. Only basics. I use a IR dongle.
It seems much more stable than the more powerful Nokia Suite to
connect. SMS and MMS messages take long to create and send because
it asks you for extra details. More keys needed than Nokia where
you just press the same key many times to create message and send.
The predictive text also does not work in all areas, mainly just
messages. So creating calendar entries is slow and painful, there
is no repeat function. I also don't like how the predictive text
works, or when you want to use normal number keys to type. The keys
you have to press to change the word or start typing the next character
is unnatural. On Nokia the down key is always "finished character/word
move on to next character entry" and * is to change the word when
in predictive text mode. Sending MMS are queued, so if it is not
sent then you can try again later. I'm really happy with the quality
of the internal display, it's also my first colour phone (my previous
5 phones were Nokia). Although it is does become washed out on a
bright sunny day. The brightness/contrast settings are pretty useless
the defualts look fine. Pitty you can't change the colours because
of the Vodafone theme. The external display is pretty low resolution
and bad colours, but it does the job. There are too many icons that
clutter the screen and can't be turned off, they basically tell
you silly things like "Vibrate is enabled". Nokia has a better GUI.
Backgrounds can be changed with the camera function. But you can't
upload your own screensavers into it, which means you have to connect
and pay to download them. No screensavers are included :( Menus
are very long to navigate, Nokia menus are fantastic and have that
scroll bar thing to let you know where you are , the GX30i doesn't.
It has quick keys like the Nokia where you press menu then the number
sequence to access features. But they seem less funtional than Nokia.
You can set multiple alarms and turn them on/off. It's bad for wake
up alarms because it just rings a few times then shuts up, there
is no snooze. Leaving you a message on the screen that you missed
one alarm. I also don't think the calendars have alarms :( It only
comes with one game :( and it takes some time to load. You have
to blow up bombs by aligning them with a fuse. Internet and GPRS
features are OK, much better than my previous experiences. The large
screen is used well. Everything is linked to Vodafone Live because
of the firmware. Sometimes you hit the wrong button and it will
try to connect, i wish it would ask you before connecting. The small
manual (somwhat larger than the phone) is printed on cheap paper,
but i suspect most people don't read it anyway. Nokia manuals are
much better laid out and better physical quality. After using this
phone i appreciate my Nokia 6510 much more, everything is quicker
and better organised. Nokia really put a lot of effort in making
their phones intuitive, Sharp unfortunatly has not. But for a fun
colour and camera phone this is pretty good. Highly recommended
for simple use, very bad for business use. It all depends on what
you will use it for. The advanced functions are not useful because
they just take too much effort to use. The phone's potential is
rather underutilised with the mediocre software and interface programming.
I'm still happy i got it because it is on a $30 plan so i am not
paying more for it, i would NOT be happy if i had paid over AU$500
outright. So if you are a power user stick to Nokia or get a proper
smartphone, everyone else who wants a camera phone give it a go. Rating:

Overall it's a great phone with great picture quality. I like the
disco light effects which you can set up when there is an incoming
call. You can set up different colour lights and disco light for
each individual caller. I wish the video could take pictures for
more than a minute given the fact the memory card can be upgraded.

This phone is brilliant. Camera is very good. A few poblems though,
battery life is poor. Charged mine over night and lasted until 3pm
the next day (but i did have bluetooth on all the time and was sending
and recieving a lot so its not the phones fault) but battery life
is quite poor. Also, it doesnt have a loudspeaker (even though it
has a speaker on the front of it)which i would find handy when im
with my m8s (doin pranks lol. PHONE IS VERY GOOD. but my friends
cant send me videos that are too big and its realy annoying. disco
lights are wicked, had them on in english for ages annoying the
teacher :). 9 out of 10 i give this phone only fr the reason that
the battery life is poor and the memory is realy small on the mmc

this is a nice phone that has a really good camera and some nice
features. The camera works brilliantly in daylight and gives you
a really clear picture as a result. You can also take really good
pics at night with the light that flashes. The zoom function is
also pretty good imo. The ammount of times you can zoom in depends
on the picture size. The video camera is ok but ive seen better.
It tends to jump around instead of being smooth like the normal
camera. The bluetooth works fine but i found it hard to set up at
first! There is a big problem though that you cant transfer more
than 100kb to your phone. That means you cant really transfer mp3s
to your phone via bluetooh. Despite this, the GX30i is a great phone

Great phone and great picture quality. I love the disco light effect
incoming call alert. You can programme what light colour including

I hav had this fone 4 about 2 weeks and i hav found it incredibly

yeh. i got sharp gx30i 3 mths ago and its phonmomenel... its by
far the best eva camera phone.. with its 1 mega pixel camera in
broad day light the camera has got the best picture quality......
but a poor zoom as it says 7 times. but 1 times zoom is so small
so altogetheer 7 times hardly gets u movin... but over all wicked
phone.. another weakness is the fact that u can only upload. 100kb
music into ya phone so now mp3 can go on it.. sharp what were u
thinking wen u made this phone. u r useless... atleats let ppl up
load music onto their memory card then. if not.. the phone so they
can upload atleast 5mb. at once... but stil disco loght is great
when its dark and ur with ya m8z and u can show off ya camera and
disco light with it to make ya phone stand out!!!! a few other wakenesses
r that... that the battrery life is poor when they bluttooth is

I just wanted to point out a few negative points about this phone.
Firstly it is quite big and has an external ariel which I haven't
had on a phone for years now. It looks pretty dated in that respect.
Secondly, there are no games on the phones. You have to download
any. Thirdly, the alarm has no snooze! I often wake up late because
the alarm goes off and there is no snooze so you have to turn it
off. The battery is poor. I had a T610 before. Even with bluetooth
permanently on, the battery would last for at least a week. You
are lucky if you get 3 days out of this one. All that aside, the
phone has good features if you don't mind charging it a lot to use

One thing that no one seemed to pick up on and sales people will
tell you its not possible, is that the phone can display different
flashing light colours for callers i.e if you have numbers you have
to store like work related you can have say a red light flashing
along with your choice of ringtone and you know immediatley who
its from so you either reject or accept. great for stopping nuisance

Half a year ago i baught the Gx30 however there was a few problems
with it not doing everything it should do. The Gx30i should be the
Gx30, i have used both and both are very simular apart from the
few things which make it that more enjoyable. The camera is the
best avalable in england of its type but the only trouble is that
it is slow. If anyone finds the camera unclear and blury its probly
because the macro switch is in the wrong position. i had that problem,
but its a great advantage because you can look at things very close

very stylish but when you get the phone you can not do anything.
It also tells you that you can play games on it, and you can not.
In one way you can but you have to pay. Also the picture on the
camera is very blurry which is not as good as other stylish phones
that will most likely be cheaper as when they have the price to
the sharp gx30i mobile phone it will be a lot of money. Rating:

I got my gx30i today and i played around with it for a while the
best phone on the market,i like the big skreen and with my big fingers
the big buttens on the key pad , cool phone about time sonwhone

This phone is fantastic. iv had the gx10 and 20 so this phone had
a lot to do to impress me. looks brill sounds brill and picture
quality is brill. bash try and lower the picture to standard size
instead of xl m8 ;) the bluetooth is fully compatible with the handset
manager for your pc so you can manage your phone contacts/pictures
and sounds easily. the only gripes i have is that you cant send
or recieve mp3 using bluetooth and manage your sd card with bluetooth.
but for a small price you can get a card reader for your pc and
then mp3 is easy as pie! the other gripe is that u cant use mp3
as a ringtone but thats a small sacrifice to make for all the other
features (if you want a phone that uses mp3 ringtones then i recomend
the s-e p800 or the nokia n-gage) cant wait for my 1gig sd card
to arrive!!!! Rating:

This phone is cool... i had the GX20 b4, just got this new one...
the camera is meant to be really good, but still, when you move
it isn't that clear, and the video cam ain't all that either....
but i'd say for cam and bits n bobs, its one of the best fones out!

i`ve just got my new sharp gx30i and i think the menu and the phone
is great, the disco lights are great when people ring you and when
you take picture but the monir problem is the camera, at the moment
when i take a picture moves so slow, it moves like a camera phone
with a 4096 colour screen but i thought thius phone is meant to
be a 1megap pixel camera and a 262, 000 colour screen so someone
please tell me how to configure the camera so it moves when you
do, instead of a sec later... my email addy is bhussain27@msn.com.

ANY OF YOU OUT THERE THAT HAS "PROBLEMS WITH TRANSFERRING PICTURES
AND RING TONES TO YOUR PHONE (ANY THAT TAKE AN MMC OR SD CARD ie
SHARP GX30/i NOKIA 6600 & 7230) TAKE NOTE!!!! Y O U D O N T N E
E D THE PHONE MANUFACTURERS' PHONE "DATA MANAGEMENT SUITE". THE
EEEESIEST WAY OF DOING IT IS GO TO A PC COMPONENTS SUPPLIER (PC-WORLD
ETC) AND PAY, O N L Y £15 (ish) TO GET A MEMORY CARD "READER"
(THERE IS ONE THAT READS SD & MMC ALL IN ONE). THEN PLUG INTO YOUR
PC (USE THE MEM CARD DRIVERS IF NEEDED, BUT MILLENIUM/2000 & XP
USERS DONT NEED THEM), AND HEY PRESTO! USE IT LIKE A FLOPPY DRIVE/ADDITIONAL
DRIVE!! JUST COPY/CUT AND PASTE FILES BACK AND FORTH USING EXPLORE
MY COMPUTER ETC.. *** NOTE-if the phone FORMATS the memory card
with folders then DONT delete them as the phone WONT recognise whats
gone on (if you do, you'll need to let the phone re-format it to
its way of formating and then start again) *** THIS IS GREAT TO
RECORD (USING WINDOWS "SOUND RECORDER") UPTO 30 SECOND SAMPLES (IN
WAV FORMAT) OFF A N Y OF YOUR FAVOURITE MUSIC CD TO BE USED AS A
RING TONE!!! (AHEM, COPYRIGHT ERM, APPLIES);-).. NOTE - WAV format
sounds are quite big in data size, so anything more than 30 seconds
in length can be hazardous to your mem cards' space!! ;-) THOSE
OF YOU THAT HAVE PHONES THAT CAN USE MP3 TRACKS AS RINGTONES (SUCH
AS NOKIA 6230) USE THIS FORMAT AS THEY SAVE A LOT OF SPACE... THIS
IS A GREAT WAY TO TRANSFER FILES TO YOUR BUILT IN MP3 PLAYER TOO!!
IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS, OR HAS BOUGHT A MEMORY CARD READER
AND FINDS SOME DIFFICULTY IN TRANSFERRING THEIR PICS/SOUNDS TO AND
