Samsung X480 Review

Phone rating:

The Samsung X480 is virtually the same as the Samsung X460, except that the X480 is triband. At just 75g, the X480 is one of the lightest phones ever made, and is an attractive little beauty with an internal aerial and an internal and external display. The display is of good quality, and the X480 has some other notable features including the good choice of Java games, large memory and Emoticons - symbols that can be included in text messages to liven them up.

Features of the Samsung X480 include:

  • Display: 65,536 colours, UFB screen, 128 x 160 pixels
  • 40-voice polyphonic ringtones
  • Melody composer
  • Voice memo
  • Messaging: SMS, EMS, MMS
  • Predictive text input (T9) plus Emoticons (choice of 41 fun symbols)
  • Downloadable Java games plus 4 embedded games (Bubble Smile, Fun2Link, Ultimate Golf Challenge, Mobile Chess)
  • Calendar, To do list, Clock, Alarm, Calculator, Currency Converter
  • Phonebook (2000 entries)
  • Memory: 9 Mbytes
  • WAP 2.0, GPRS Class 10
  • Triband
  • Size: 85 x 43.5 x 22 mm
  • Weight: 75g
  • Talktime: 3.5 hours
  • Battery standby: 220 hours

I love this phone. It's simple to use, handy, great design... and most importantly - it can call and text message. I've had it for over one year now and I've never had any problem. *****

AN amazing phone , for all those people looking for a small lightweight , stylish phone , this beauty is well recommended. it may not have camera ,bluetooth or mp3 player but hey the whole purpose of a phone is to send /receive calls and texts, if you want a mp3 player , but a mp3 player , if you want a camera buy a camera and so forth. At the end of the day a phone camera or mp3 player will never surpass the REAL thing , so whats the point? The factory ringtones maybe load but they aint so good, but you can download other cool tones from the ORIGINAL Samsung website which all are campatible for this phone therefore they are also loud.Ringtones from websites are bound to be low. All in all its the best phone out there with a beautiful colour screen.

A very poor qualty phone that has a lot of strange features like no silent mode from keypad, text is not made to fit in one line, tones are very low and there's not a decent one..i hated it from the day i bought it.. thought i'd buy a samsung as i was very happy with my A800 but i was SOOO wrong!

Very good and easy to use phone. Specification is a little bit inacurate, as talk time is not 3,5 hrs but 6 hrs, and memory is limited to 2,6 MB and not 9 MB (I think that data was copied from Samsung X640)

I think the Samsung X480 is a little phone for all those people who dont want a camera phone. It texts and it calls and thats really what phones are for anyway. It has one of samsungs amazing screens. It is shame about having no outer LCD but that doesnt matter as the service light tells you whether or not you have a message or a missed call etc. Also the service light can be changed to many different colours to suit you. All in all, I think the samsung x480 is great value for money and is a great option for those who dont want a camera, MP3 phone but a reliable, decent alternative.

This is a great phone. For me, a phone is useful for one thing: make calls. Well, a good-looking, hi-res color display and a nice speaker are always desireble, and all this for a low cost. This is the exact phone for people like me, who does not want a phone with a junk camera or nasty 512 mbs of mp3. This is a good phone, no matter what they say.

People love it at first sight. Ok, while using? Well, see my rating, it's excellent. Very good speech reception, bothways. Bright screen. BOLD number display. Easy to use menu style. Font used for SMS is crisp and pleasing. More than enough memory for storing SMS and name/number. Using keypad is childs play. While holding, only thumb (any thumb) is enough to press all the keys without any effort or strain for any amount of time. No RSI. Problem? Well, since it is folded, it rings low especially, when kept in pocket. At times, U 'really' miss the call. Good buy if ur both hands are normally free when u want to use the phone (since u have to use both the hands to unfold it. Don't venture to open it with one hand, it falls down always as the body is so smooth). Overall, it's a neighbour's envy.

Just purchased a new set and have found it excellent in many respects, namely, 1) Very handy, so small to fit any pocket of a shirt or a trousers. 2) Keypad with wide and soft keys, very easy and fast to write an SMS. 3) Good battery life. 4) Excellent embedded polyphonic ringtones, pictures(wallpapers) and Java games. 5) Excellent screen resolution with sharp, clear and bright display that is not found in any other set of the same size and same price. 6) A very good upgrade of Samsung A800 mobile set.

Overall the phone is good but the sound of the ringtunes and the volume to hear someone speaking are low. The factory ringtunes are kind of high but you would want to download ringtunes from the Net. Also, when you download ringtunes from the Net., they turn to be low. Maybe there is a way to make them louder which I am not sure of.
