The
Samsung S3500 (nicknamed the "Marcel")
is a low-end slider from Samsung, with a Soul-inspired
design and smart metallic looks. The features that you get with
this phone are typical for the sub-£100 price bracket. The
Marcel does come with some extra "safety" features, including
a "fake call" facility which is intended to get you out
of trouble, and an SOS feature that sends an emergency call. Apart
from these features, it's a pretty standard phone, and rather expensive
for what you get. But it does look nice.

Brilliant display and colours.. nice metallic effect at front..
Easy to use user interface. Cool theme creator.. A few drawbacks
but not major are.. - a bit fat than usual.. - texting not so easy
when holding the phone.. maybe cuz my fingers are long.. - plastic
back makes it vulnerable to dents.. - Very difficult to install
Java apps and games.. - No flash on camera.. however good quality
for a 2 MP camera in daylight. I am Happy with my buy for what i

I don't know why all people blame this phone for its battery backup,
but mine one is super. Battery backup is 3 days although I listen
too much music, display is superb, sound clarity is superb. I'm
using this phone for 2&a half years my one had never gone for repaire.

By far one of the best phones I ever owned! It did go wrong just
after the 28 day replacement warranty ran out and took 2 weeks to
repair, but apart from that superb! had excellent sound quality,
built superbly (withstood 10 months of solid abuse!)really easy
to use. Would recommend this phone to anybody! Only broke due to

i guess the problems are majorly faced by the people of UK.... cause
my phone works fine and gives a battery back up of 2days and except
no downloadable themes and jar file can't be installed above 500kb
everything is excellent... I guess the phone isn't designed for

Bought this phone last Monday and charged the battery as instructed.
I didnt use it for music or anything major but the battery is nearly
empty even before the day ends. Went back to ask for another battery
and was given another one. Unfortunately Im still getting the same
problem. I think the battery let it down so bad that i am thinking

I have the same problem as Alan (18/11/2009): the phone sometimes
modifies it's profile so that there is no sound on receipt of text.
The txt profile also drops back to default alert tone, default alert
type and alert repetition. Samsung have suggested a complete s/w
reload, which is VERY inconvenient, and they haven't a clue if it
will fix the problem. THIS IS A SERIOUS FAULT if you rely on texts...

The battery does not hold a charge for long at all, with just normal
call/text useage I am re-charging every day. It has real signal
problems (tried a different sim card and still no good) User manual
that comes with the mobile is as useful as a chocolate teapot. Settings
are very limited. I am very disappointed with the phone, the ONLY
thing I like about it, is how it looks. Wish I hadn't wasted my

Well i bought this phone quite very recently and i really love it!
Yeah the battery backup is poor, cannot stay more than 1 day, if
used some features like calling, texting, song listening and video
playback moderately. But the phone looks extremely beautiful, like
a twin of Nokia 6500 slide but way too cheap than this. In 1 month
of usage, i didnt got any problem of freezing or phone getting switched
off itself, or any display problem, network coverage is quite good
and it is built quite sturdily. Though if we could download some
download able themes, that could have been a nice thing otherwise
it seems to take a lot of time in creating themes and making it
look good through phone. The volume of the phone is too loud, but
only one problem i find here, if i keep the keypad volume off, the
whole phone's volume becomes silent i.e. i cannot hear camera shutter
tones or some other tones, yet the annoying service tone after calling
or texting cannot be silenced. Otherwise i love this phone a lot,
it has a decent 2 mega pixel camera with nice features. Excellent!! Rating:

good for people who like to keep phones small,not too expensive

We decided to purchase a S3500 from our local Vodafone shop. the
phone would not receive text and the display froze after a few minutes.
we took it back to the shop and they gave us another. this was the
same. third time lucky we thought after an argument with the sales
assistant, he tried to tell us mobile phones were not covered by
the sale of goods act. he replaces it with a third phone. this phone
also froze. We then purchased a Nokia 3600. Not at all happy with

I wrote a review on the 11th August about this phone, and i have
been impressed with the phone, up until today... when i turned the
phone off it came back on and it came up with the startup wizard.
It kept repeating this so the phone has now gone off to be repaired
for two weeks. Not impressed! Samsung you have let me down again

First Samsung I have bought and sorry I bothered. If signal goes
when trying to use functions the fone turns itself off; battery

For a low-end phone, this feels quite solidy build. The basic phone
functions are good, but the Calendar is a joke! Your calendar entries
can only have 16 character titles, and only 100 character descriptions.
It doesn't understand dates before 1/Jan/2008 so people's birthdays
get mangled. The "New PC Studio" sync software is appalling: it
crashes often, and can't sync to Outlook properly: I ended up with
a whole calendar full of (truncated) duplicate entries in my Outlook.
The calendar memory is limit to a handful of entries, so you can't
sync more than a month or two into the future. Nokia might be boring,
but they know how to sync calendars! My Nokia 6124 and 6300 both
did way better than this. Don't get this phone if you care about
your calendar. Rating:

Just got the phone and find that there is a serious issue with the
date. When I need to store a birthday or anniversary it does not
let me set any date before Jan 2008. So all b'days appear toooo
recent. Imagine my dad's b'day is also coming as 2008! Does anyone
else have this problem? Do I need to update or something? And yes

I love this cheap-ish phone. It is heavy, solid and well made, just
the ticket, at least you feel safe holding it. Texting is a doddle,
good loud ringtone, excellent music player, though could do with
a bit less treble and more bass. Has to be bargain of the year.
Some reviewers are twisting on that camera is not very good. Jeez,
you bought a phone, not a camera, what do you expect you fools.
Buy a Canon if you want good pictures, ha! then try and phone someone

The S3500 is a good value phone with good features from samsung
loud speaker for the music,but after a week i had to change to a
different phone due to the very poor battery performance from the
phone,i was was only getting a day from it with medium use,very
dissapointed about this because liked the phone,so would say get
phone if you dont mind charging every day,i have gone back to a
j700 which i had before,and managed to find another before they
stopped making them,the j700 stats on batt were supposed to not
be as good as s3500 but in reality it is much better and last bout

Bought this on PAYG from Dialaphone as a first phone for daughters
eleventh birthday. Two days it was fine then the display just went
black. Phone could still receive calls etc. but you couldn't see

ive just got this phone in pink and i absoutley love it the music
is loud ringtones are loud camera is great considering there's no
flash i got it on virgin mobile so i got msn free for 6 months which

had this phone for a month now and cant fault it i was looking for
a cheapie phone on payg found it in vodafone for £70quid its virtually
the same as my sisters soul which i dont really like but its a lot
louder in the ringtone department its well made and the battery
isnt that bad depending on what functions you are using ive put
a memory card in mine and have got loads of tunes downloaded which
is another thing thats simple to do to i dont normally go for samsung
but im impressed with this one and will be keeping it for a while

this is a good bit of kit, the phone feels well made for a start,
good key pad, fast movement between applications and great security

Just got this phone and it really is nice. The good points are:
it has a theme creator, it holds 500 text messages plus 50 on your
sim, the calendar and tasks have a memory of 100 each (100 characters)
and you can save them onto the memory card (16GB!!) You can change
the font size, has an excellent display. It is very fast. You can
save your inbox text messages to the calendar or memo. You can change
your text message to your own tune. It has a good slider as well.
The bad bits are: in the sent box, it does not display the time
and date when you sent it, but it gets recorded in the call log
(like the U600). And the battery is poor. But it's still a cute
phone for the price. Rating:
