Samsung L760
Ted Baker Review
Phone rating:
In a nutshell: The Samsung L760 limited edition Ted Baker
is a 3G fashion slide phone that comes in a choice of blue, pink
or brown. With its metallic finish and mirror-effect screen it looks
cool and different to other sliders. It's equipped with 3G video
calling, a 2 megapixel camera, a music player, FM radio, Bluetooth
wireless connectivity and a memory card slot.
Best buy: On Pay as you Go for £69.95 from The
Carphone Warehouse (blue, pink or brown).
The Samsung L760 Ted Baker is a 3G slide phone
in traditional Samsung style, except that it's been given a makeover
by the British fashion designer, Ted Baker, so the version that's
available in the UK isn't the one pictured on the left, but the
colourful versions pictured below - available in a choice of blue,
pink or brown.

This leaves us slightly confused about
what the L760 Ted Baker is for. Samsung have promoted the L760 as
a blogger's phone. It has a fast 3G connection with special blogging
software that lets you update your blog with text, photos, videos
taken from your mobile. Maybe Samsung realised that hardly anyone
would want such a phone, so they revamped it as a fashion phone
to rival Nokia's Cath Kidston range. But this leaves it with a load
of expensive tech stuff that probably won't get used.
Anyway, what you do get from the L760
Ted Baker is a cool slide phone with a metallic and mirrored finish,
funky accents, plus all the usual gear such as a 2 megapixel camera,
music player, FM radio with RDS, expandable
memory and Bluetooth (including support for a Bluetooth
headset). It's quite expensive though, and we dislike the mirror
finish as it makes the screen harder to read outdoors.
On balance it's not our favourite
Samsung slider, but that's really just a personal opinion and we
can't point to anything that's actually wrong with the phone. But
you know us ... we just can't stop having strong opinions about
phones! Alternatives to consider are the Samsung
U600, Samsung U700 or Nokia
6500 Slide.
Features of the Samsung L760 Ted Baker include:
- 3G video calls
- 2 megapixel camera
- Video camera
- Display: TFT, 262,144 colours, 176 x 220 pixels
(2.0 inches)
- Music player (MP3, ACC, ACC+, WMA formats plus
OMA digital rights management)
- FM radio with RDS service
- 72-voice polyphonic ringtones / MP3 ringtones
- Messaging: SMS, MMS, email
- Java games
- Internet: WAP 2.0
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, USB 2.0
- Memory: 40 Mbytes plus microSD memory card slot
- Network: 3G UMTS 2.1GHz
- Size: 100 x 47 x 15 mm
- Weight: 93g
- Talktime: 3.5 hours
- Battery standby: 370 hours

THis phone is quite a good phone if you think about it. It has a
good price, good amout of features, and is durable (unlike the Nokia
N70 which happened to bust 7months after owning it for no reason).
I agree with everyone that the downfall is the fact that it does
not come wid games and that it is hard to download them, but so
what, if you want games, use your money and get something like a
nintendo DS. Also, the look is quite good, but be gentle with it
coz it scratches easily. I keep my screen cover on so that the screen
doesn't scratch. It holds micro SD cards up to 2GB which is quite
good. OVERALL, i think its a very good phone, but i just don't think
it fits 5*.

Had this phone for about a month now, and its ok. At first the battery
wasnt lasting for more than 2 days, so I took it back to the carphone
warehouse, and they suggested that I keep the 3g swithced off while
it wasnt beang used, also to make sure that the bluetooth was switched
off when not in use. This really helped, and now the battery lasts
alot longer. If you are in a poor signal area then this affects
the battery, as the phone is constantly trying to find a signal.
Another problem is that I cant change the message tone - but this
was the same with my D600. Also the pc software that was supplied
doesnt work .. I asked about this in carphone warehouse and they
said you can download it form the samsung website, but I cant seem
to find it, meaning that at the moment anything I want on the phone
from the pc (eg music) or pics etc from phone to pc, I am bluetoothing
from the button to the D600, and then sending to/from pc, and then
bluetoothing to the button via the D600. Apart from this it is a
reasonably good phone, although I think I prefer the reliable D600.

I got my phone a week ago and the more i use it the more it annoys
me. Every time you press a button it makes a chirpy noise and after
a while you want to tell it to shut up. The slide seems really flimsy
and the camera isn't really that good and the sreen goes off after
about 10 seconds if you have'nt pressed anything. I bought this
phone purely on looks and i wish i hadn't

It is fashionable and is really popular and it makes other phones
seem quite... Boring. They just don't have all the est qualities.
The downer is that it doesn't have many games and the instant messaging
is hard to set up. Get themes from mobile9.com They are free!

No regrets yet. Its looks are very good, does everything that I
expected it to, battery seems good, easy to use music player and
usb PC connection, so overall - pleased so far. Previously had a
D500 which was a great phone - so am a bit of a Samsung fan! I had
intended to have the D900, but not so keen on its looks.

It may look stylish on the internet and It's super thin! but I don't
think it is that stylish when you see it for real. It's got a good
camera but it is not worth the money! 1 line of the buttons have
fell off. I't can break really easily because one of the lines of
button's has broke because i dropped it on wooden floor. It has
got a good battery life! But i would get the Samsung U600 it's much
better! It is way more stylish than the Samsung L760! Oh my slide
broke ito 2 pieces. I wouldn't get this phone
