In a nutshell: The Samsung Jet is a slimline mid-range touchscreen
phone that gives a lot, for a modest price. It's a superfast phone,
with a responsive touchscreen interface, plenty of online widgets,
an excellent web browser, multi-tasking and a superfast processor
to power it all. With a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash,
a music player, FM radio with RDS, and the capability of playing
DivX & Xvid videos, it has plenty of entertainment on board.
We have to mention the incredible AMOLED display, the 2GB of built-in
memory, the 3.5mm audio jack, WiFi and HSDPA. There are just too
many good features to list! Best buy: *Free* with half-price line rental or £130
auto cashback from Mobiles.co.uk
(Black) or Mobiles.co.uk
(Lilac); or £199.90 on PAYG from Mobiles.co.uk

Review:
June 2009.
The Samsung Jet has been launched with the slogan
"Impatience is a Virtue" and
according to Samsung it is "the must-have product for those
who live fast paced lives and want to pack more of everything into
their day."
Yes,
the Jet is fast, with a powerful 800 MHz processor (theoretically
even faster than the processor used in the iPhone
3G S), a responsive touchscreen user interface and fast web
browsing with HSDPA. But for us, the real story is the price. Even
though it's only available on Vodafone initially, you can buy the
Jet for just £20 per month on contract, which seems like a
bargain to us.
The
Jet looks pretty much like all other touchscreen phones, with some
nice detailing on the three buttons below the screen to set it apart
from the common herd. Apart from that, it's almost identical to
phones like the Tocco Lite - quite impressive, when you consider
how much hi-tech wizardry is packed into this slimline device. So,
not only is this a fast device, but it's also sleek and streamlined
too, and will easily fit into a shirt or jeans pocket. The TouchWiz
2.0 user interface is tried-and-tested technology and shouldn't
cause any problems for most users. And it is very fast and responsive
too.
We've
got to be impressed by the AMOLED display on this device. It's slobberingly
gorgeous. AMOLED is bright, with high contrast, so you can see it
outdoors much easier, and the resolution on the Jet is an incredible
800 x 480 pixels, which makes it the best screen we've ever seen
on any Samsung phone. In fact it beats most high-end smartphones,
yet costs half as much! At 3.1 inches, it's large and this makes
a real difference for any touchscreen user interface. This display
is so good, it's worth buying the phone for this feature alone!
So,
in terms of usability, we'd give the Jet a 10 out of 10. But let's
look at the features now. For a mid-range phone, the featureset
must rate about 9 out of 10. The camera has 5 megapixels, with autofocus,
smile detection, digital zoom and a dual LED flash. It's not going
to be shortlisted for the best camera phone ever, but it still beats
most of the others in its class. The Jet can record video too, and
can play back videos in high resolution in DivX
& Xvid formats without conversion. A second camera enables video
calling over a 3G network. Musically, the Jet delivers, with a music
player capable of playing most common music formats. With DNSe and
a 3.5mm audio jack, this ticks our boxes. There's also an FM radio
with RDS, so you can see what station you're listening to, and even
the name of the artists and song playing.
One of the other strong points of the Jet is the
whopping 2GB of memory built into the phone. This will probably
be enough for most users, with the capacity to store around 1,000
music tracks, but can be expanded to 16GB with the addition of a
microSD card.
Although it's not a smartphone, the Jet does have
multi-tasking support, and the TouchWiz interface includes online
widgets that can deliver applications like Facebook, weather reports,
etc. So unless you're a geek who likes to download and customise,
you'll find the Jet answers most of your needs. And if you're one
of Samsung's target users living a fast-paced life, you probably
don't have time for the downloading and installing stuff anyway.
If you do need to download, you'll find the 3G HSDPA and WiFi connections
to be nice and fast, whether you're watching YouTube videos or just
surfing the web. The web browser is excellent too. Thanks to the
huge screen and the one-finger zoom feature, viewing full web pages
is easy. The web browser is very well featured, with support for
Flash and even multi-window support. It's not quite a laptop, but
it's definitely a good mobile web experience.
As well as WiFi support, the Jet has Bluetooth
and USB, naturally. The 3.5mm audio jack is very welcome too, enabling
the use of standard headphones, or the possibility to connect to
an external speaker system or a car stereo. A GPS receiver is included
too, but no Google Maps.
So, the Samsung Jet: it's a fabulous phone, with
some truly exceptional features. Just remember that it's not a smartphone,
so don't compare it with the iPhone,
or phones like the Samsung i8910
HD (which both cost twice more than twice as much as the Jet!)
Really, this is a fabulous phone for someone wanting more than the
Tocco Lite, but not willing to fork out £40 a month for a
top-of-the-range smartphone. We guess that ticks a lot of people's
boxes.
Features of the Samsung Jet include:
5 megapixel camera with autofocus, 4x digital
zoom and dual LED flash
Video recording plus DivX, Xvid playback
Second video camera for video calling

I have just returned my Samsung Jet after one day - it is NOT a
smart phone. Yes, it has all the hardware (fancy screen, GPS, fast
processor), and it does link with MS Exchange, but I normally use
my phone as my diary, address book, and communication tool, and
the calendar function on the Jet has a limit of 15 characters for
an appointment name, and 255 characters for attached notes. So despite
the attractions of the Amoled screen, I am going back to my trusty
blackberry and E71. Rating:

Got the phone a few weeks ago and dont really have any problems
with it. The only bad thing id say is its plasticly cheap feel,
abit of aluminium round the edge for example like the tocco would
of made it feel better in the hand. Apart from that its a phone
that does alot and does it well, no its not a smartphone but id
say its the best package you can get for this price. People complaining
about the battery are stupid, it has an OLED screen which uses alot
less power than most other screens, 2 days standard use is good

Got mine today and already rang to have it returned. The web browser
is not flash enabled. Well none of my flash sites looked any different
on the jet than my tocco lite. The GPS only managed to locate my
position to within about a mile and half, and yes I did go outside
to check. Jumped on my bike and rode to the top of a hill, still
couldnt locate me any closer than 2.6km. If I cant work out which

I have been lucky to own this amazing phone for 2 weeks now and
I am delighted with it. I had an Omnia in April 2009 - hated it.
Screen rubbish, touch screen hard to use and unresponsive. Gave
this to my other half and tried a W995 - horrible and sent it back
- screen flickered and internet browsing impossible. Then I recieved
this phone and I am so very happy. The display is out of this world,
the battery life is very good (even with lots of internet browsing
lasts a minimum of 3 days) touch screen is the best I have used
- one press does what it should and nothing so far has been pressed
in error. Texting (which I do lots of)is a joy and is just as quick
as with a keypad. The widgets are easy to use and customise and
phone is feels so good - the smoothness, weight and feel are perfect.
The rose/black back looks fantastic. I am a bit of a perfectionist
and if you want a phone that has an amazing display, is brilliant
for texting and that makes internet browsing a joy then get this
phone. It is even good at making and receiving calls! I have never
had a phone that I have been so happy with and after worrying about
going to a touch screen I am so very glad that I got this phone. Rating:

it sounded a bit light on the ear-phones to start with but once
I adjusted the equlaizer settings to extreme bass it was great and
pretty loud. Wifi connection is very good which I used to watch
youtube and check mails. Streaming was continuous and browsing was
easy too. The only negative thing I found so far is with the touch
screen interface. When I try to go down the page it is too quick
and it is hard to stop at the rquired icon. Some times it is a bit
slack and you have to press it a few times for it to respond. The

Firstly you have to use this phone on the right network, i was using
it with o2 and it just didnt feel right however now im using it
with vodafone and have to say the phone now feels much better all
the features are working properly. The screen is amazing and looks
brilliant, although the touchscreen is resistive and not capacitive
it works really well and gives the user a sturdy feel when flicking
through the phone. The new Dolphin web browser is really good with
features such as one finger zoom and full screen view. The camera
is decent at 5mega pixels however i have seen better. Things such
as gesture unlkock and call are a little bit of a novelty and the
widgets are limeted as samsung havent joined the app store party
yet but you can bookmark web pages then widget them to your home
screen which is handy. The phone looks fantastic however the all
plastic casing can make the phone feel a little cheap, a little
bit of metal wouldnt of gone a miss. The size is a little small
for my personal taste but thats just me. Battery life is average
and depends on if you turn 3G off or do alot of web browsing etc
but moderate use will get you a couple of days. Overall this phone
is brilliant, lots of features obviously very quick and looks great
if samsung start up an app store or add some more usefull widgets
then this phone would be the best out there, in spite of that i
love it and the price is great. Rating:

Have had this phone for a couple of weeks now, and have to say it
is a very good phone. I tend to use a phone as a phone, calls, texts
the odd photo and a bit of web browsing and the jet does all of
this very well. Battery life is fine 2-3 days, screen is stunning
and yes every now and then you have too tap more than once, but
this is really not a big deal. I only have one gripe and unless
i am doing something wrong (not the first time) when i have a missed
call it does not show who the missed call is from, you have to exit
the event window and go into the call log from the main menu. On
a single missed call you have two options voice call or exit on
two or missed calls you can view the log which is great, it is nothing
major just a pain and a bit odd? One other thing and I have noted
from other comments if you are networked tied, i can only speak
for vodafone, you have the annoying vodafone logo appear on the
main screen every time you switch the phone on, sure you can drag
it onto the tool bar, but you cannot delete it, again not a massive
deal but annoying all the same. Despite these couple of points an
excellent phone. Rating:

For a start, dont bother listening to these fools that have rated
the phone at 1 star and completely slated it. You always come across
people that moan because they either have nothing better to do,
or because they don't quite understand how to operate what they
are moaning about. Now lets start with the touch screen, well I
have used many phones and admittedly, the touch technology isn't
as good as the iPhone, but it is definately one of the best out
there. The battery isn't great, but as long as you charge it each
night and lets be practical, that isn't a problem for most, then
it's will last fine, even for heavy users and as for the web browsing,
well it works fine for me. This phone for the money is fantastic
(free on a £20 tariff, or £200 on pay as you go) It's looks and
feels really nice, its extremely easy to use, has a fantastic screen,
a really good camera and everything you need in a phone, in fact,
there is alot of phone for the money. Ok, the apps, touch and internet
browsing aren't as good as the iphone, but if you want a cheaper
alternative, then this is a great option. Usually you get what you
pay for, but trust me, with this, you get alot more than you pay
for. I've used some of the other, more expensive touch screen phones
out there and this is better! Great phone and for the money it's
defo a 5!! Rating:

Well, where do I start. Samsung have clearly spent hundreds of thousands
of pounds advertising the Samsung Jet phone. TV, radio, newspapers,
billboards, everywhere you look you see them. It's a real credit
to their marketing department that they can get so much exposure
for what is actually a pretty bad phone. Now first things first.
To be fair the Jet doesn't claim to be a Smartphone like, for example,
the iPhone, even though this is clearly the market they are aiming
for. With a swanky touch screen, motion sensitivity and 5 mega-pixel
camera and 800mhz CPU you'd think it was a worthy opponent to the
very latest of Smart phones. Let me assure you that it isn't. It's
true, the phone is very fast, the applications launch in a split
second and operate, for the most part, very smoothly. Problem is
though, they're rubbish. The phone comes with all the usual features
that any phone has nowadays, calculator, calendar, stopwatch, voice
recorder blah blah and all work fine. But, as any iPhone user will
tell you, one of the best things about having a Smartphone is the
seemingly endless choice of "apps" you can download. So, in case
you were wondering, no, iPhone apps don't work on the Jet, what
you have instead are what are rather cutely names "Widgets". These
can be downloaded directly to the phone with the built-in widget
browser. I was so excited when I found this I nearly wet, dreaming
of endless hours of browsing the possibilities, the tricks and treats
my new phone had in store for me. However upon further investigation
I was confronted with no more than a handful of largely useless
features. A BBC news widget that is too small to read or navigate,
a weather widget which, to be fair DOES work , but only on a very
basic and somewhat difficult to use level. Various clocks and calendars
which do pretty much what the phone already does. As a whole it
was a waste of time. Now the Jet does come with YouTube and Facebook
widgets, very handy, I thought, as these are 2 of my favourite websites.
Unfortunately the term "widget" might be a bit over-enthusiastic
for these, they are icon links to the websites, handy sure, but
seriously Samsung, use your imagination. The Google widget is a
little better allowing you to search directly from your "desktop"
and also links directly to Google maps and Google mail (now there's
a good way to eat your mobile internet allowance). Anyway you get
the picture so enough about the widgets, on to the phone itself.
This is the first touch screen phone I've had so I knew it would
be strange at first. However, a month later it's still a pain. I'm
no technical idiot nor do I have big clumsy fingers, but I find
it damned difficult to slide through the menu pages without launching
several features that I didn't want. "So rearrange the menu, idiot"
I hear you say. Well I'd love to, but you can't. It seems Samsung
think they know best and won't let you rearrange the icons, the
only things you can customise are the font and the background picture,
gee, thanks. On the subject of the touch screen I move on to texting.
I love texting, you love texting, we all love texting. The Samsung
Jet hates it. When composing a message you have the standard alpha-numeric
ABC2 - DEF3-GHI4…keyboard that appears on the screen, works
well enough. One thing that does but me is on capitalisation of
letters, especially names and "I". You have to press 2 buttons to
turn this on, I've found no quick "shift" button and it doesn't
remember which words you capitalise you have to do it each time.
BORING. The solution is (or rather should be) the QWERTY keyboard
(WITH a shift key) that appears when you turn the phone sideways.
Again, this does work, but the keys are very small, and unlike the
iPhone is doesn’t take an educated guess at which keys you
were going for, it just takes your typing as gospel and throws up
whatever rubbish you are hitting. Fair enough I should be more careful
but it does get tedious having to retype, especially when the touch
screen isn't sensitive enough to realise where you're trying to
place the cursor in the text you've already written, and there's
no button that lets you scroll through the text manually, it's all
done on the touch screen. I usually find it's quicker to retype
an entire word rather than trying to correct one letter in the middle
of it. So, turning the phone sideways changes the keyboard? That's
right, the phone is motion sensitive. You're supposed to be able
to scroll through photos with a mere flick of the wrist, but believe
me, it doesn't work like this. Even the tutorial that shows you
how to use the motion is temperamental at best, and the game that
uses the motion simply doesn't work. Games, ah yes, one of the first
things you check when you get a new phone. Don't bother. Let me
list what the Samsung Jet has to offer in its "Games & More" section.
-"Tumbling Dice". I thought this might be some exciting casino simulation
game, but alas the name says it all. It's a couple of dice. You
tap the screen, they roll. Handy if you're playing a board game
and lose the dice I guess but not much of a game in itself. -"Motion
Tutorial", I mentioned this earlier, it does exactly what it says
on the tin, just doesn't work very well. This is also where you'll
find the non-working motion game. -"Google Maps" - well that's not
much of a game is it? Let's play find the house! There it is, I
win. Whoop. -Yeah that's it. No more games for you unless you want
to pay several quid for the privilege. So while I'm in the menu
I'll go through some of the other features in more details. The
internet. This is actually OK, it's very fast to load you can scroll
smoothly though web pages, and turning the phone sideways gives
you a wider and very usable view. I've yet to find a way of saving
pictures from the browser (and as I mentioned before, I don't consider
myself to be a technical idiot, though if anyone reading this wants
to prove me wrong please do feel free). My other moan is the favourites
feature. An essential of any phone browser it does what it's supposed
to, though as with the main menu you can't rearrange the order and
are stuck with a whole load of default favourites linking to various
parts of the Vodafone website at the top of your list, you have
to scroll through all of this to get to your own pages, (this is
after launching a few on the way by accident of course). I've also
yet to discover how to bookmark the page that you're currently on,
I don't think you can. Nor can you view your history, that's annoying.
My files - that lets you view your files. It works, great. Video
Player - plays your videos (which you can do from the my files bit
anyway). Photo browser - lets you browse your photos (which you
can do from the my files bit anyway). Supposedly this also uses
the motion sensitivity but as far as I can make out it just likes
to do this randomly when you don't want it to just to p**s you off.
Music Player - plays your music, though it does set it out a little
better than the My Files section. Hallelujah. FM Radio - this is
novel for me, none of my previous phones had a radio. You have to
plug the headphones in for it to work. Personally this doesn't bother
me as I'm not one of those chavs who plays music out loud on the
bus but I'm sure this would vex some people. One thing that is annoying
though is saving your presets. When listening to a radio station
the name appears on screen, however when you save stations they're
listed by their frequency, another minor moan but boy are these
adding up. Camera - This is actually OK as phone cameras go. The
photos are crisp and have fantastic colours. Not quite so good in
low-light conditions (the lenses on camera phones just aren't up
to the job). There is a light to help with this but it's not a flash,
it stays on for a few seconds resulting in everyone in the photo
squinting. Handy for finding your keys though. Well I'm boring myself
now so I'll wind up. Don't be fooled by the adverts. The Samsung
Jet is mediocre at best, if Samsung had put even half of what they
spent on advertising into further developing the phone and "widgets"
it might be pretty good. It has massive potential that is just not
being fulfilled. There are plenty of phones on the market that are
MUCH better. Seriously. Sorry. Rating:

very happy 5/5, was abit concerned moving from sony ericsson back
to samsung but its been great. works fantastic as a phone and all
the other features are great too. battery - used it out of the box
n got 1day 1/2. let the battery run out and then charged for just
over 3 hours and it lasted for just under 4 days sending quite a
few texts, few 15 minute phone calls and using the camera and wifi
for a little bit. so charge it fully and its great! camera - brilliant
in daylight, as good as my 8mp camera, but at dusk not so good but
i can live with it. flash is quite bright with 2 leds wifi - brilliant,
quick and pages load fine. browser is great im not sure why people
are complaining so much about it touchscreen - really responsive,
had no problems and suprisingly can text quicker on this screen
than with old traditional button mobile. screen is also really bright
and amazingly clear, so i have turned down the brightness to level
2 and its still really bright and saves on the battery definately
glad i got this phone, and it looks great too. the only downside
is the gps. it works and is quite quick in finding locations and
directions on google maps, however no sat nav software is supplied
and route 66 for the jet costs about £60 to download so im abit
annoyed at that but oh well dont use it much anyway. i was going

Had for one month. Worst phone I've had in years. Touchscreen very
unresponsive and you have to press several times sometimes which
makes texting a particular chore. The battery life is awful, a few
phone calls, texts and soon your battery will be dead and have resorted
to carrying my charger with me. The audio quality of mp3/video playback
is really poor and reminds me of phones I had over 5 years ago.
The internet browser supplied is poor and not on par with those
on a Nokia platform. Doesn't feel particularly more speedy than
other handsets. The operating system is a simple affair and you
cannot add any descent applications other than simple java programmes,
many of which are a hassle to use on the touch screen interface.

back to Samsung, and to be honest i wasnt too let down by the Camera.
All round a fantastic phone, it does everything it says it should-
i can see a lot of people complaining about battery life. And 2
of my friends had a similar issue... and we found that the one who
received the phone, pulled it out the box and started playing with
it straight away without charging it had issues with useless battery
life. However the other got the phone, plugged it in and left it

Well I've had my Jet for 5 days now. Before getting it, I read and
read and READ on the net, looking for info. Feedback seemed predominantly
positive - but not perfect.. Anyway, I really wanted an iPhone,
but didn't want to change providers and pay the high monthly fees.
Important for me was to have a good quality phone for texting, with
a good camera, and combined with an mp3 player. I wavered some about
getting a real smartphone, but decided in the end I just don't need
it. I need more a "fun" phone.. But I want it to be good. Anyway,
I would give the Jet 3.5 stars out of 5 at this point. The camera
is OK, but could be better. The UI is also just OK, but could be
better. Texing is good - even with one hand. The text recognition
feature where you write with your finger was a nice surprise - works
well. the mp3 player is fine. I find navigating withing the phone
sometimes a bit perplexing(often hard to figure out how to delete
things..) - but I guess this will improve with more use. Battery
life is the biggest minus IMO. With an average amount of playing,
listening to music, taking photos, etc.., I get two days per charge.
If the phone got 4-5 days I would rate it higher. Overall the phone
is pretty decent, but I would say it has just kind of met my expectations,
and not surpassed them. I do like the style of it, it fits well
in my hand and pocket, and just looks good. The camera is average.
Same with the user interface - the UI seems to hang sometimes. The
battery life is poorish. Verdict - a good phone, but not a great
phone. Rating:

After reading this website I finally took the plunge and bought
a Jet on Vodafone UK. Having been a huge smartphone geek before
I knew that changing to a "normal" phone was going to take a bit
of getting used to but was willing to give it a go. The screen is
the first important factor. Not as big as an iPhone, or some of
the other touch screens on the market, but the quality is superb.
High resolution, fantastic colours and detail and the touch response
is almost as good as the iPhone (almost!). Far more responsive than
the LG Viewty, Samsung Omnia or Samsung Tocco Ultra. These I've
put side by side to test against. The user interface is pretty quick
to learn, very simple in layout and easy to navigate. The 3 different
home screens is a little excessive, and might be useful to some
people, but I prefer shortcut menus to everything which is one draw
back with this phone. Changing the layout to suit your needs can
be a bit of a pain, but is still possible for some settings unlike
other non-smart phones I've used in the past. Having something a
bit more open to customization would have been nice, but not essential.
Now we come to the setting up of the phone. Vodafone UK have some
god-awful software that seems intent on locking itself into your
bookmarks, shortcuts and general settings. Once I'm able to flash
this phone the pre-settings are going out the window! For the general
user who wants to set up their own web-homepage or their own email,
then you're going to have a problem without some technical know-how.
Everything has to be programmed manually. This means ip settings,
mail servers, homepage addresses, internet profiles, the works!
Not impossible, just difficult! As for the features, I bought this
phone for occasional internet use on the go, the odd photo and general
calls and texts. If this is what you're after then this phone is
fantastic. It does all of these things well (once you get the hang
of the web-browser), and adds some other nice features into the
mix. Onto the rating..... I've had this phone for 1 week and charge
it every night. Yet on Saturday I used the phone to send about 10
texts, make an hour of calls and check the football results about
20 times usung the normal vodafone data signal. After all of this,
the phone was down to 2 bars remaining on the battery. Pretty poor
if you ask me. For this fact and this fact alone this phone is not
getting five stars from me. Screen 6*!! Net 4* Email 4* Camera 5*
Easy of use 3* (due to settings of email and net!) User Interface
4* Battery life 2* (I've had worse..... Justa about!) So overall
I've going with a 4 star effort for this phone. Worth getting, but
heavy users will need a second battery, and some patience on initial
set up of net and email! Rating:

Before I talk about the phone itself, 2 things: 1)It's not an iphone-
if you want an iphone then buy an iphone. 2) if you've not used
a touchscreen before then try before you buy. Don't complain that
you don't like texting with it after you spent the money without
trying it out first. As for the phone itself: I've had it over a
month and feel qualified to actually make a judgement now- I like
the touch screen and have no trouble texting etc. the qwerty keyboard
is a joy and I don't know if I can go back to old style texting.
Sound quality on calls and playing music/ radio is great. The music
player is great and the camera is very good- nearly as good as my
old SE K850i. The screen is simply amazing. GPS isn't exactly MI5
standard but I never expected it to be. The triple wallpaper thing
and cube interface things are nice gimmicks but just that- gimmicks.
The widgets are nice but I can take or leave them. I love the "dynamic
canvas" app but it and the handwriting feature need a stylus. Processing
speeds are plenty quick enough. I've not tried any of the active
sync stuff yet. The only bad things are as follows: The web browser
is poor and I don't think it's just me who's having problems navigating.
Also, and this is the BIG flaw, you only need hold 1 button on the
side to unlock so it continually unlocks in my pocket and then dials
people. To stop this I had to switch off the gesture unlock/ call
(which is otherwise a delightful feature) and PIN code the call
log menu. Overall this is an excellent, stylish mid range phone
let down by a couple of errors a schoolboy wouldn't make designing
a phone. Rating:

The Samsung JET is an amazing device that catches many eyes, with
it's shiny, sleek, modern, design, but the phone has so much more
to it on the inside. For people looking for a cheaper touch screen
phone, the JET is highly recommended. It's responsive touch screen
is composed of an AMOLED display which shows off 16 million vibrant
colours, at the palm of your hand. (Which is by the way, much more
than a rainbow can :) It holds a great 5 megapixel camera with zoom
AND LED flash that allows you to take pictures and record videos
on the go to capture all those precious moments. It also holds a
secondary camera at the front for video calling. The JET'S music
player can play most types of music formats, releasing a nice crisp
sound whenever played. The phone itself can hold 2gb of internal
memory, however this can be expanded to your liking. It is also
a phone for social butterflies, supporting SMS, MMS and even email,
to let you even have a wider range and variety available for communication
with just a touch. Samsung has also included a favourable miss that
other phone companies fail to include, which is a 3.5 mm jack! (Though,
the earphones provided don't look cheap and hideous at all) Overall,
I definitely recommend this phone to people searching for a good
all round phone. Every phone has their faults, you can't have everything
but the Samsung has really impressed me with this one. You won't
be disappointed :) Ready, JET, go :)) (However please keep in mind

I have had this phone for a week now, it came Orange branded which
limited functions on the phone, ie prevented it from downloading
face book w2idget etc, and restricted satnav to Orange Maps, it
also removed the 3 screen sub menus. It was a simple fix to unbrand
the phone by flashing with the latest firmware. All widgets were
restored as was the ability to download more, the 3 screen sub menu
is now fully functioning, the orange maps was removed and from phone
settings, by turning on navigation then downloading the version
of route 66 for the samsung (free with uk maping) and a small fee
of 1.99 euros to activate it now has fully functioning satnav too.
Camera is excellent for both video and still. Touch screen response
greatly improved with the new firmware. The only slight downer is
the battery life, I'm having to charge one a day, but..... thats
because I keep playing with it and going on the net which is so
quick at rendering screens. I have also tried opera mini 4.2 on

Sorry for interrupting this chorus of overwhelming applaus. I tested
it for 10 days and I admit: excellent display (best on earth for
far), fast reaction to any touch, clear&good structured menu, umts
connection fine and first-class wlan (Route66 as navigating software
is an disaster but do not blame Samsung ;-) ). BUT: if I make use
of all nice features, I will only be able to make phonecalls for
appx 5 minutes . . . cause battery power has gone. Yes, no power
means: no functionality at all, or??? Furthermore: do not put it
into your trousers, this will excellerate a descending battery power.
If I shut off any feature, I do have an average GSM phone with 7
days standby which I am used to it for quite a while. So - although
being a friend of Samsung for many years - this is not really a
big step into right direction. Obviously it will take another year
to develop corresponding battery power to feed this phone with all
of its features. I will return, but later! ;-) Rating:

Getting this phone tomorrow and really looking forward to it after
hearing all the positive reviews about it, i currently have a N95
8GB, which is a awesome phone but gets clogged up too easily and
slows down plus the build quality of the slider is very poor (check
youtube N95 slider problems), anyway the JET sounds fantastic and
jus a comment to a couple of the other peoples reviews on here,
1 guy says the Jets camera quality is poor when he tries to zoom
in... answer is its because its a digital camera and as with all
digital cameras that use digital zoom when you zoom in to something
it becomes pixelated and always reduces the photo quality, most
people never use digital zoom because of that reason!, also if anyone
has problems with Wifi not working then it is probablly because
of the Network branding... eg: Vodafone blocked the use of Wifi
on my N95 8GB when i first bought it, they do this so you will you
the GPS/GPRS/WAP browser to surf (which costs you money) rather
than surf for free on someones internet connection via Wifi. The
easy way to get over this is to debrand your mobile and restore
original the generic firmware that it had when it left the factory
before Vodafone/Orange etc got thier hands on it, its easy to do
just google it and follow the guides available out there. :) I will
be debranding my Vodafone JET as soon as i get it, (word of caution
tho debranding will void your warranty... but its way worth it!)

Was recommended this phone by vodafone - they said it had built
in satnav and if I took out a subscription to their unlimited internet
the satnav wouldn't cost me anything. The phone came with a pre-installed
widget for the navigation. All I had to do was download from vodafone
live. Well guess what, the Jet is not compatable with vodafones
'Find & Go'. You have to subscribe to the Route 66 satnat that costs
extra. Just in case you think that sounds fine, Route 66 doesn't
support the Jet as yet. So in a nut shell - no satnav. It took me
a week of phone calls to figure this out! The screen does look nice
on the phone, but sometimes it is unresponsive. It also has a nasty
habit of unlocking itself in your pocket and making random calls.
If you want an annoying phone that doesn't do what it is supposed
to, but looks pretty, then this is the phone for you. Rating:

This phone is overrated and I am definitely sending it back. I thought
it would be a great phone after hearing so much about it, it has
some good aspects; the touchscreen is really responsive and the
video editing is something that will keep you interested after one
or two goes, but then no doubt you'll get bored of it... but its
not worth all the hype. This is the type of phone that is really
expensive 2 start off with, and a couple of months down the line,
it will be available for a lot cheaper. Maybe I had too high expectations
for the Jet ... now I'm back to square one, looking for a new phone!

The Jet has certainly that 'wow' factor that phones like the HTC
Magic and the iPhone seem to lack. The camera is good quality, the
AMOLED display is brilliant, excellent radio signal, fast web browser
(though not quite as fast as the iPhone) with flash player built
in and 2Gb of HDD memory. No app store though (although widgets
are downloadable) and the GPS is poor with about a two mile accuracy.
The display is large (yet the phone is quite compact), long battery
life, very good looking and a very powerful processor of 800MHz
(200MHz faster than the iPhone 3GS). Rating:

Got this phone thinking it was going to be the bees knees as all
the adverts (and most reviews!) say it is. Very sexy looking phone,
suberp screen, good operating system, easy to use and get on with,
I moved over from Nokia and found the transition to be easy. However,
the battery life on mine is attrocious- 10 hours of MINIMAL use
(about 10 texts, 2 mins internet, then just sat doing nothing in
my pocket for the rest of the day) and its totally dead..tried changing
some of the settings for brightness, vibrate, made sure apps werent
accidentally on but this did not work, still 9.5 - 10hours and its
dead. It is hard taking a clear pic with the camera, the cube interface
thing only works when it wants to, there is sometimes no caller
ID, and the PC software will not work so I cannot upload music or
anything. Plus, the internet is not superfast..it can only be described
as 'OK'. I think I have one of a 'Bad Batch'. I doubt most are like
this and I am trying my best to like it an d not totally destroy
its reputation but it is just unreliable and not what it says it
is. Have it back Vodafone. Rating:

Very disappointed though with the sync possibilities. ActiveSync
does not work with a PC. Also not that: - Calendar has a maximum
of 200 entries - Each entry a maximum of 15 characters only!! -
Contactlist ONLY sorts on LAST name (I imported 350 contacts from
outlook, and the list is a mess). - my memory card was NOT recognised
and needs reformatting - Bluetooth will NOT connect automatically
with Parrot: it requires manual connection eacht time you start

Some people on here are just mad. Texting on the Jet is the standard
affair on a touch screen, but meade easier because the screen is
actually reactive. It's just right. It's the best phone i've owned
yet, miles better than my renoir and touch pro! It's so easy to
use, and everything just flows unlike symbian or windows mobile.
For that I thank touchwiz rather than slag it off. It's not trying
to be an iPhone, the i8910 is handling that. It's like comparing
a ford to a mercedes. Different leagues!! This phones actual rivals
are dead in the water. The camera is very good, i've not had problems
with focusing. The settings must be wrong... This phone is supported
by software updates through PC Suite. All the niggles, very few
of them compared to most handsets are sure to be fixed. If people
love their iPhones so much, why are they all getting rid of them,
to get a phone to eventually send back.....It's on almost every
review site. Is it the lack of basic features =P Rating:

Please can people give reviews who have had this phone for more
than a week, and will not give stupid comments like 'Within minutes
of switching it on I knew I had made a bad mistake'. I've given
it five stars, partly to redress the silly reviews and because thus
far it hasn't given me a reason to mark it down. Well except the
erratic zoom feature and the fact that it isn't as fast as Samsung

are fantastic but I did not like the User interface at all,and especially
found texting a bit painfull. Maybe I was expecting too much from

Okay, it's time for a more honest review of this phone. Touch Wiz
2.0 is a wonderfully nippy OS, and combined with the 800mhz processor,
the menu speed is rapid. However, this phone overall isn't as fast
and 'Jet' like as Samsung will have you believe. Mostly it's a great
product, all the standards like Messaging etc work fine and are
easy to use. But the phones big selling point, the Web Browser is
a bit of a joke. Yes it plays Flash, that's all well and good, but
on a display this small, it's not really an advantage. The browser
crashes about 2 times out of 10, and the phone resets. Never before
have I had a Mobile Phone that couldn't access even some simple
pages without crashing. The one touch finger zoom, while a great
idea, is hit and miss. Sometimes it works, other times it zooms
in, only to zoom straight out again leaving you where you started.
My phone wouldn't acces the HTML version of BBC News no matter what
I tried, and always resorted to the Mobile Version. What's the point
in such a powerful browser to surf only the Mobile Internet? Another
major downside is the camera. It is, in short, rubbish. The 'Auto'
setting, doesn't focus properly, leaving most subjects blurred.
I've never seen a camera do that before. In order to photograph
a simple object in a room you have to use the 'Document' setting
(which is okay I suppose, being this phones equivalent to Macro)
or even 'Landscape'. Every phone I've used before had brilliant
Auto settings which captured the scene perfectly, and sharply. Not
the Jet. The phone is far too glitchy for me, and after the 10th
reset, I've put it up for sale. A device which is either pure hype,
or not finished. Rating:

Well well well... this looks suspiciously like the nokia 5800, both
in terms of looks and features (3.5mm headphone jack etc). I think
Samsung has released this to cash in on the 5800s remarkable success.
Yes, it has a better camera, but just LED flash - they missed a
trick there. Im not sure how good samsung are at updating the firmware
of their phones, but i can tell you that the 5800 has had a few
updates which make its interface much nippier, to name but one improvement.
However, this is an impressive phone, but I still prefer my 5800,
which can be got on similar deals to the jet. Now if someone could
just find a way to stop fingerprints from spoiling touch screens... Rating:

great pics even though only 5meg camera, ect etc - the touch screen

and makes me wonder if Samsung are bringing out a range similar

downside is that it is resistive but that depends on user preference.
