Samsung
E900 Review
Phone rating:
In a nutshell: The E900 is one sexy phone with its touch-sensitive
buttons! Available in black, pink or orange, and now very cheap
to buy, the E900 offers fantastic value for money. With a high quality
2 megapixel camera and a fully-featured music player with expandable
memory to replace your MP3 player, the E900 is a much better phone
than its arch rival, the LG Chocolate.
The touch sensitive buttons aren't as easy to use as normal buttons,
and this is why it doesn't get a 5 star rating.
Best buy: *Free* with a free Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 from
Dialaphone
(Black) or Dialaphone
(Pink).
Is the Samsung E900 the coolest phone of 2006?
Possibly. Clearly derived from Samsung's hugely-popular D500-D600-D800
series of slide phones, the E900 takes the best features of every
one of Samsung's previous phones and adds an uber-cool look to complete
the package.
Just like the LG
Chocolate, the E900 has touch-sensitive keys combined with a
slide-up design. The outer buttons are invisible when not in use,
and light up when touched. The glasslike touch screen with its glossy
two-tone (black & slate) minimalist finish makes for a very
sleek, very cool outer appearance. Touch the buttons and watch them
magically light up! Slide open the phone and the main keypad is
revealed - a standard keypad with good-size tactile buttons with
a positive click response. The looks of the E900 are clearly derived
from the best-selling D500, but brought right up to date with the
latest technology.
Functionally, everything about the E900 is good.
Starting with the display, this is a best-in-class TFT display with
262k colours and 240 x 320 pixels. The camera is a CMOS 2 megapixel
camera with digital zoom and flash, plus a video recording option.
Not the very best, when compared with the latest high-end phones
from Sony Ericsson, but a good second-best. There's a handy mirror
for self portraits. Wireless printing using Bluetooth is supported
with a PictBridge-compatible printer. Like the D600, there's a TV-out
connection, so you can view your recorded photos and videos directly
on a TV.
The MP3 player is of high quality, and 64-voice
MP3 ringtones are supported, as well as video ringtones.
The phone makes use of the same voice clarity technology
used in the D500 & D600. The phone automatically senses the
volume of the background noise and will increase the volume and
clarity of the incoming call to make it more audible. In addition
there is an integrated handsfree speakerphone.
Other notable features include Bluetooth and USB
connectivity, and a generous 80 Mbytes of memory plus a memory
card. A document viewer (PicselViewer) enables office documents
to be viewed. The formats supported are Excel, Word, Powerpoint
and HTML documents. The TV Out feature can be used to display documents
on a TV screen if desired. Unlike the D600, the E900 is triband
(not quad band).
The E900 has virtually all of the features that
have made Samsung's slide phones popular, with a visual makeover
that's stunning. Some may not like the touch-sensitive controls,
so our advice is to try it and see how you get on. Compared with
the LG Chocolate, the Samsung E900 outperforms on every level. The
Samsung D900 lacks the touch-sensitive
keys but in other ways is a better phone and is worth considering
if you plan to buy the E900. The new U600
is also an alternative to consider as it combines the best features
of the D900 and E900.
Most popular contract deals:
Features of the Samsung E900 include:
- 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and
flash
- Video camera
- Display: TFT, 262,144 colours, 240 x 320 pixels
- Music Player (MP3, ACC/ACC+, e-AAC+, WMA formats)
- MP3 ringtones (64 voice polyphonic)
- Speakerphone

- T9 predictive text
- Document viewer
- Java games
- Text/Photo/Video Caller ID

- Memory: 80 Mbytes plus MicroSD memory card
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, USB 1.1, TV-Out
- WAP 2.0, GPRS Class 10, EDGE
- Triband
- Size: 93 x 45 x 16.5 mm

jesh, i think i should start to work in marketing or sales for a
mobile phone company. As I'm personally responsible for selling
loads of these little beauties because as soon as anyone sees mine
and has a play with it..they want one!!! Ive had at least 4 people
definatly buy one after seeing it and most of my friends are all
planning to get it! (although samsung.. i think you should do a
pink one - like moto did with the RZR!) This phone has pretty much
everything - good looks and useful features (pretty much everything
i want in a man, but hey, I myt be pushing it there!) And the best
thing about it is the attention it brings, people love it, and get
jealous about it! and why do people keep moaning about the buttons?
I have no problems with it at all...i think people are just being
too fussy. FANTASTIC phone anyway as it has all the features i ever
need and it looks great in my gucci handbag ;)

Very slick, lightweight, feels good, great screen... BUT, as others
have mentioned, the touch-sensitive buttons are a functional nightmare.
It is all too easy to hit the 'cancel/back' button by mistake, as
your thumb needs to reach across it to access other buttons. Will
take it back today and exchange it for something without 'a TOUCH
of the future'. Design innovation replacing practicality.

touch pad is a bit 2 sensetive so if im doing something like taking
a picture and i just clip the cancel button it goes off the other
fault is the games once you start playing the games and get about
half way through the game, it asks you if you would like to purchase
the unlocking code for this game and that is £3 so really you havent
got any propper games on there unless you pay but if you use your
phone for just txting and ringing people and using the camera the
phone is fine other if u like good cameras good every thing then

a common problem with Samsung......the high street shop I purchased

Great phone !! looks good easy to use and the must have phone for
this year. Anyway someone down at the bottom said he would have
preferred the lg chocolate and that it had better camera and memory.
Well ok it may look better but the LG has 1.3 megapixel camera whereas
the samsung has a 2 megapixel camera. The LG has more built in memory
but you can buy up to 2gb transflash memory cards for it (at least
i think) and you also save £20 by buying the samsung handset only.
So get that up you ya fannybaws !

Yep, cool buttons on the front but way too sensitive. I too have
not yet written a txt without having been sent back to the main
screen because my finger came within a millimeter of the button.
Bluetooth handfree - i thought the idea was that like most other
fones ive had it will auto answer when connected to a headset, with
this phone you have to answer the call by touching the fone then
go thro the options screen to listen through the headset, surely
not the best idea whilst driving!!!! Font is extremely small when
using the web and the games are cool but difficult to see. Will
be changing it defo at upgrade time, may revert back to my nokia

This is a good phone. Very good. But as far as I am concerned it
is only an updated version of the D600. Apart from the WMA format
it can play in which the D600 cannot I do not see any difference
between the two. Samsung just got the ever popular grand and selling
D600 and put it in a more refined body of the E900. There is really
no major innovation from the D600. Samsung need to make good leap
and mobile revolution like motorola Razr and not recycling the same
phone in different bodies or shells. Because of this I give the
E900 4 stars and not 5.

I'm 50:50 about this phone. I think it's easily the best looking
phoen on the market, but you have to clean it all the time to wipe
off your fingerprints. The screen is cool, but the battery is appaling.
Mine only gives me about 2 minutes warning to charge the battery
which is hardly helpful! The touch sensitive thing is really annoying
(I keep phoning people by mistake) but I'm hoping I'll get used
to it. The main thing that's annoying me is that I have to change
it to predictive text every time I write a message, yet when entering
something in the calendar or memo, it's in predictive text already.
Can anyone tell me why my texts won't default to predictive texts?

This phone is great looking but my issues are these: 1. Although
i have small fingers it is really tricky to text with one hand.
2. The touch sensitive screen is VERY SENSITIVE. it will cut out
and do other things just by my fingers coming within a fraction
of another button. 3. There is hype that it is heat sensitive...I
don't think this is the case at all. I tried using the buttons with
something masking the heat in my fingers and i could still operate
it. 4. I kep having to put on predicitive text each time i want
to send one...my sony ericsson did not have this problem, nor my
nokia before that! 5. The battery life isn't as good as the sony
ericsson 6. Whent texting, there is a big pallava before it actually
send the message, with other phone they ask if you want to send
and then it does...not askif you want to send only then ask if you
really want to send. 7. when deleting anything there is a big hoo
haa. it asks if you want to delete one or all, then asks you're
sure. Otherwise the phone is fine xx

This is the best phone from Samsung that I have ever had, infact
scratch that, its the best phone I have ever had, ever! A lot of
the people here seem to be thick either talking in chav speak, writing
rubbish & stating incorrect information, plus the comments a couple
down from my review talking about a D500, come on, listen to somebody
here who actually has the phone! I have had it for a week, it is
connected on T-Mobile and it came in the orange/black/white box.
Some of the earlier models came in an all black box and had some
software issues. I am pleased to report that I have had no issues
at all. As many have said the touch screen takes some getting used
to, I was concerned as i do have big fingers, but I really do not
have a problem with it at all, but I would recommend you having
a go on one before committing to buy, even if it stops you coming
on here to slag it off over something so petty! The phone is feature
packed, much like a carry over of the D600 features, with the more
attractive design ideas from the prettier, yet inferior D500. The
colour screen is excellent, and the animations are actually pretty
cool, some of my previous Samsung have been pretty corney. Sending
a text is easy and does not take me 30 secs, if yours does, then
you have one of the earlier models with a software glitch that should
now have been fixed. Ringtone choice is poor, but most phones are
these days, but the great MP3 player makes up for that, but only
if you have good taste in music of course! It is still annoying
however that you cannot have a Samsung that vibrates and rings at
the same time, but I have got used to this over the years. It is
also annoying that you are stuck with the preloaded message tones,
but again something I can live with. The phone is great to hold
and use, it does get dirty very quickly though, but a friend of
mine with the LG Chocolate phone has the same problem, again one
I can live with. Everybody I have shown this phone to has been impressed,
they all want to have a little hold and stroke and a fiddle with
the touch screen! Overall I am very happy with the phone, it is
the best one I have ever owned and I look forward to spending a
happy and trouble free 18 months with it (touch wood!) What I would
say is DEFINATELY try it before you slate it, and DEFINATELY buy
it! This is the phone to have this year!

I can't believe I have seen so many good reviews on this phone as
I think it is one of the worst phones I have owned next to the ngage
and my first horrible motorola. Where to start, the build quality?!?!
How bad is it. Either all the people writing reviews are young children
who can't see quality, but believe me it is plastically, too light
to feel real, and it creaks if any pressure is put in it. The touch
screen buttons are a gimmick and are not really anything special,
and the software when using the vivid text can be so slow. The sound
quality was quite poor and I couldnt find away to change the message
tones. In all the phone is a big let down, I have quickly changed
to the N80 by Nokia and will not be going back to Samsung. But if
you were to buy a Samsung D500 or something in the D series because
they are so much better. But honestly, look at the build quality
of this phone before you buy it. Because as much as you say it looks
great. That little voice inside you will remind you that your kidding

I received this phone two weeks ago from Dial-a-phone, and connected
to T-Mobile. straight out of the box it started to do some strange
stuff when calling out even when the indicator showed I had a good
signal, i.e. it would take 20 - 30 seconds to connect and sometimes
would not connect at all, display would give an error message stating
'Limited service', immediately after the signal was back to full
strength and I would be able to make a call. I tried the SIM card
into my old D500 and the problem went away, so I contacted Dial-aphone
who replaced my E900 within 2 days, Excellent service. The replacement
handset connected perfectly, no 'Limited service' signal (except
in weak signal areas) and no long wait before connection. Strangely
this phone came in a different box, this first phone was packaged
in an all black box, the second was in a black and orange box....!
Is it an improved model? Anyway, my second replacement handset has
now stopped working after 20hrs use, I accessed the camera from
the quick key and it crashed to the Samsung welcome graphics, it
is now stuck in a loop of crashing and restarting. This handset
is now in the post back to Dial-a-phone. All in all I still think
that this phone deserves the 4 stars, it would have had 5 apart
from the faults. It is a very small, sleak and sexy handset, with
the touch sensitive keys adding to its striking looks. It is very
easy to use with the display being a bit difficult to see in strong
daylight, but that's probably due to the wallpaper I'd chosen. Even
with the problems I've had I still want another one.

I have just got my E900 at the weekend. I am on T-mobile and live
in Kent area. I was worried about a few things, in particular how
easy it would be to accidentally wipe a text message that you are
typing but actually it hardly ever happens (though those with big
fingers may perhaps have more of a problem). When using the phone
normally the person at the other end can sound a little tinny sometimes.
The phone itself is very smart and has numerous features. I like
most of all that the text message alert can be put on repeat so
that you get reminded of an unread text. One major problem i have
though is that: (1) My text messages often do not send straight
away, it can take 20 seconds and often fails, so i have to resend
(yes i am in an area with a perfectly good signal, my old phones
work just fine). and (2) When dialing someone, it can often take
30 seconds after dialling someone, before it even starts ringing
their phone! I think it may be an arial issue, perhaps the ariel/reception
is not good on the phone. May i PLEASE ask if anyone else on t-mobile
with this phone has these two problems at all? Just so that i know
if it is my phone or the make of phone in general?? Any responses

I had a D500, which I loved, and avoided the D600 as it was plastiky
but needed a 2MP camera so got a new contract and an E900. Great
phone. Great navigation keys if your name is jane and you are aged
five - older or bigger than that and expect a special learning curve
to avoid mis-keying and a lot of blue language in the process. S-L-O-W
responses when making a call or going through recordings - expect
a wait of 30 to 60 seconds for a response. Might be a fault with
my phone but so few E900s about at present cant be sure. Taking
mine back to dealer next week for a replacement. Battery life short.
Bigger 800mah battery than the 600mah batteries of D500 and D600
but been having to recharge every 2nd day, phone in same location
and on same network. SAR rating is just 0.3 something and I can
feel it is olow as am very sensitive to these things and this phone
bugs me a lot less than many others. Apart from the above negative
comments, this phone is the dog's gonads and so slim it fits into
the ultra small front pocket on my jeans, with just the speaker
standing out to let you hear when someone is calling. Until the
call and picture access delay can be found to be a fault in my particular
phone and not a design fault of the phone itself I can't give it
more than 3 stars. primarily it is a telephone and as a telephone
I don't expect to sit waiting for 30 to 60 seconds before it even
starts to ring. I also notice it has trouble holding onto a good

In repsonse to Samantha's query, i believe that you cannot prevent
the screen from going black/blank after a few minutes of non-use.
This is how my E820 was designed also, i think it is to extend battery

I am a Nokia man. Well, was a Nokia man... I had ten years of nothing
else but Nokia's. Ten years of laughter, ten years of tears, ten
years of excitment, ten years of seeing a few of them vibrate into
the bath! I could not see by them. They were sexy, they were practical,
they were the muts nuts. However, after I decided to seperate with
my Nokia 8800 which I loved until I put 7 mp3s onto it and ran out
of memory I went for their new baby. Yes it had 3000 songs. A 2MP
camera. A 4GB harddrive, not to mention the huge screen which played
videos in widescreen. The N91 looked and sounded the part - on the
internet before it came out. But when I finally got it through the
post it needed two postmen to lift it out the back of the van, it
was HUGE!! I needed to wear an extra belt in attempt to stop my
jeans from falling down. Yes, the features were great but next to
the 8800 it was like a Ferrari parked next to a Range Rover. After
a month I had no option, I had to find another mobile. One with
the looks and slickness of the 8800, but with the features of the
N91. So guess what Nokia I went for... none of them! Blockia have
simply had their day, its seems if you want a nice little sexy one,
then its out of date and if you want one thats got more technology
than NASA then you'd better invest in a golf trolley aswell! Surely
for £400 you'd expect a phone that you could live with everyday
and doesn't crash more times a w eek than George Michael! So, if
I wasn't gonna get another Nokia what could I get!? A SonyEricsson,
mmm, no. There are about as common as muck and don't have the looks
that would make someone look twice. Yes they got all the features
but what is with that revolting orangey-look-at-me-i'm-brighter-than-the-sun
colour!? So... A Motorola!?!? Mmm, definately no! They make Victoria
Beckham like fat, I know a phone should be thin but they look starved!
And the SLVR L7... no I dont even want to go there! So really that
leaves Samsung. Well they either flip open quick enough to knockout
someone 100yards away with a penny or they slide and look exactly
the same as they did years ago when the D500 came out... or do they!?!?...
Introducing the Samsung E900! The phone that was seemingly rushed
out to complete with the 'LG Chocolate'. Chololate!?!? The name
is enough to put me off, don't get me wrong I ain't racist - I've
got a colour TV! But where they obviously went wrong-other that
the name ofcourse-is with that stupid ugly red buttons on the front
and designing the keypad so you can have a mini game of draughts
on it using tiny bits of blue-tac. Also with the fact that it only
has a 1.3MP camera and no room for additional memory should you
wish to import more that 512MB. These kind of features are surely
a must these days and Samsung thankfully have noticed that. The
E900 is light, not too thin or wide and stunning to look at and
hold! The touchscreen does get abit of getting used to but once
you've conquered that your home-sailing. The phone comes with 80MB
internal memory and for no more than £30 you can pick up a 1GB MicroSD
meaning its got twice as much memory as the LG. Then comes the best
bit - the camera... I can safely say that its miles better than
the N91's even though the phone is half the weight and size! The
zoom ain't the best, infact you'd be aswell just stepping forward
but when you look at the smoothness of the videos you take you really
couldn't care! Its outstanding!!! Everything else is superb too.
The software can't be faulted. The battery seems to last forever
and get this... you can even password individual parts of the phone
like yours msgs or files! Obviously meaning if you leave your phone
on the table while you go for a hose you know your friends can't
be looking at the naked pictures of your girlfriend which she sent
you the night before. Nor can they send a message to the ugly thing
you ended up with at the weekend telling them you love them and
can't stop thinking about them xxx! Nor can they find out that spent
£3.50 downloading the latest Westlife ringtone! Also, no matter
how much times they try n crack the password, the phone doesn't
lock - meaning you have time to finish reading the paper if needs
must! This phone really has won me over. I can't find anything at-all
wrong with it! Well, maybe the speaker is in the wrong place, other
than that nothing! I doubt I'll ever go back to Nokia again, infact
I doubt I'll buy another phone for a long long time, unless this
one vibrates and 360's the bath! So there you go, if you want to
be like everyone else... buy a SonyEricsson. If you want to play
draughts on the move... buy the LG. If you were dropped as a child
or blind... buy the Sliver L7. And if you want the world at your
fingertips, and every other part of your body at the same time buy
a Blockia. If none of the above apply to you and you want the best
then go Samsung... and if you want the best of the best then the
E900 has got to be your next phone!

READ THIS, A REAL REVIEW I got this fone 2dat and ong its so cooool
compared to my previous fone, the SE K750i. Firstly i love the sensitive
buttons they arent so sensetive like all you fools are making it
out to be. Nice and slim. Love the way the buttons light up and
fade away. Nice screen, slightly larger than the k750 and the 2mp
camera completely beats the k750's. OK, k750 has better photos but
the video is amazing compared to the rubbish k750's with the old
15fps which is rubbish. Looks brill when outputing to television
and its got teh cool feature of microsoft excel, word, powerpoint,
etc... which you can also output to a tv which is good 4 a meetin
or summin. Im very happy with the mp3 quality, i think SE K750's
mega bass sounds better but still very good. Menus are easy to use/get
used 2 and teh fone is easy to use in general. Expandable memory
2 which means hours of high quality videos or even loads of music(1GB
holds about 300songs) and teh mp3 can also play wma format which
is good as wm a is always much smaller than mp3 format. I recommend
u get this fone, it looks better than n80 which is only slightly
better with 3megapixel cam and wifi which u wont rele need.

Now ive had alot of phones, and im one very fussy person...but this
is by far the best phone Ive ever had. First of all going on the
DESIGN - It is one hell of a beauty. When it is closed, it looks
so smooth and minimalistic - like a piece of art. I just love the
fact that it has no buttons. And when it opens the blue backlights
look nice and smart - Maybe not as smart as the red lights of LG
chocolate to some people, but its enough for me. It is also quite
a slim phone considering all the features its packed with so it
wont bulge in your pocket either (which i hate!) The one thing im
very happy about is that samsung have really thought about it and
kept the main scroll/navigate button as a normal directional button.
Unlike the LG chocolate, where the menu navigation button is touch
sensitive aswell, which is far too slow to use, and rather fiddly
at that. Now for the FEATURES - fortunatly this phone has a great
2megapixel camera, and the results look excellent upon transfer
to Pc and printer. (The same also for the video recorder) The features
and settings of the camera/video are extensive and useful (like
multishot, timer, effects) and these are accesible through the camera
menu or by learning the shortcuts on the keypad (much quicker) You
can also edit your images (crop, resize, effects etc). The flash
on the camera is very powerful for a phone - and if you hold down
the 'volume up' button you can turn it on anytime to use as a torch,
which is great for them 'finding the keyhole' moments! The phone
also has an SD slot for EXPANDABLE MEMORY on top of its already
good 80MB of storage. The MP3 PLAYER is useable in 'Airplane mode'
which allows you to use it in-flight, and it also comes with some
excellent software that is much easier to use than any others ive
tried (sony, nokia, motorola - you should all take note). One of
my favourite features is the PRIVACY SETTING, which allows you set
a pin code over things like text messages, images, and videos etc,
to stop nosy peeps from looking at all your private stuff. THE TOUCH
SENSITIVE KEYS do take abit of getting used to and can be very frustrating
at first but after a few days i got used to it and now very rarely
do I accidently touch the wrong button. BAD POINTS - The phone gets
very mucky easily from fingerprints, so im constantly wiping mine,
also for some reason you cant have your own message tone, you have
to have one of the preset ones >:( and it could also do with a standard
headphone jack... but thats honestly about it to be honest. I find
my battery life is about 3days, which myt sound bad but im always
using the games and mp3 so im impressed with that. I also find that
the phone slider is nice and sturdy, but will be interesting to
see after an 18month contract. Someone also said that it sounds
tinny on loudspeaker, or with music on - personally i think its
ok depending on what kind of music your playing, turn the volume
down a touch or make full use of the bass/treble setting and you
should be ok. To the peeps who are going in a huff and giving it
one star because of the touch keypad..GET A GRIP guys! That is not
a true reflection of the phone or its features, its not all about
the keypad you know - Give it time to get used to it or get the
D600 instead. The same with saying it gets scratched easily, ive
had mine for about 6weeks and it still looks like new because i
actually take care of my possesions! OVERALL I think its a fantastic
little phone that promises so much and delivers so much. The good
points outweigh the badpoints so highly that you just dont care.
Im one of the most fussyist people on the planet with phones so
the E900 must be good to get 5stars! :D

Rubbish. Wish I'd never sold my Nokia. The menu brings up the next
sub menu blocking the view of the writing, set up was a nightmare
for GPRS etc, the T9 text input turns itself off when you switch
to character/number mode, no auto caps at the start of a new sentence
when texting, it won't show jpegs transferred from a PC via bluetooth
- just comes up with a question mark, the built in sounds are rubbish
and only the ringtones can be sourced from downloaded music, music
that is downloaded plays nowhere near loud enough for a ringtone,
the touch keys are so sensitive they activate whilst using the fourway
button, there's no file manager to speak of, there's no connection
manager to speak of and replying to an email is so ridiculous in
terms of cursor start point that it's easier to start a fresh one.
I've only had this for ONE DAY and already I've found these miseries.
Heaven knows what problems I'll have in the next 17 months and 29
days. Pass this one by. Now I know why I've stuck with Nokia's for
the last 12 years! It'll be on ebay by the weekend.

Just got this phone today (eventually after O2 said it should have
been here 2 working days ago!). I love it! I had absolutely no probs
with the touch screen at all, maybe it's just my light touch! Didn't
take any getting used to! Had an E530 before and this is practically
exactly the same layout (menu) as that so no probs there either.
Easy to navigate even if you haven't had a samsung before though!
Screen colours amazing, and camera brilliant, really clear. MP3
player good. Yes, the screen gets covered in fingerprints, but I
don't mind cleaning it! I discovered something so cool, I was so
excited! If you get a new SMS message, go to view it, then go to
options and view as vivid message. It comes up with the message
bit by bit, and if it has a word like 'heart' or 'time' it comes
up with an animated picture right in the middle of the text where
the word should be! I know I'm sad, but I love gadgety extra things
like this! Anyway, definately get this phone, was going to get the
SE W810i, but this looks that bit nicer. Forgot to say, the PC suite
is great. It is so easy to set up and download songs onto your phone
(literally just click and drag!), and upload photos. You can mess
about with them too, like cut a bit out a song if you don't like
the rest. Also can manage other aspects of the phone on your PC.
People keep putting this phone down over trivial things like it
not ringing and vibrating at the same time. Who cares? It's got
all this other great stuff, and works as a perfectlty normal phone
too! Only thing I don't like is that there was no micro SD flash
card with it so I'll have to buy one.

render it entirely useless. It's almost impossible to create a text

almost any series of button-presses is ruined by accidental touching
of the t.s. keys. It's so lovely to look at, but nigh-on impossible

Firstly I should point out that my previous phone was the D500,
so most comparisons will be based on this. 2 days into ownership
of the E900 and quite frankly it's ok. Just ok? well let me explain.
Yes it has a few more features than the D500, ( memory card slot
/ word/xls file viewer / 2mp camera - Xhtml is pretty handy as well)
But aside from this nothing that makes you think WOW. As most people
have said the touch keys take a bit of getting used to, although
to be honest they are more of a gimmick and don't add anything to
the functionality of the handset, on a very hot day they are even
more sensitive. My main gripe about this handset is the screen,
2 days of careful use and already there are scratches on it, what
will it look like after 3 months? The build quality of this phone
seems poor,it feels small, plasticky and very breakable. Compared
to the D500 with in my opinion is a solid handset. It will be interesting
to see how well the E900 fares after months of use. It would have
also been nice to have the small rubber raised area that was present
on the D500 in order to make it easy to push the slider. So what's
good about this phone? 1. Slimline looks - Minimalist exterior 2.
The camera 3. I like the option to individually select which files
are visible to bluetooth. 4. Screen resolution is good Would I buy
it again? Probably not.

Firstly ive had this phone 2 days. Secondly ive had a 8210 and a
W800i so im comparing it with them. The points are mention are what
i have looked for and come across it is very usefull to read other
peoples reviews as different people require different phones for
different things - i personally do not play many games but i noted
that down, ive done this in bullet points so its easy to follow,
here goes Pros • Very Quick to Switch on • Shows own
number - some phones lack this • Very clear calls - alot of
people have complained about this, i have tried T-mobile and o2
and they have been fine • Once in messages [after a few unnecessary
click] easy to go to drafts, sent messages etc • Can store
200 messages shared between inbox draft and sent messages •
Can block txt from certain people • Has timer and stop watch
• Can play music when you slide the phone back up - does not
work whilst you just want to go to previous menu • Has option
for when keypad lights up – time of the day etc and backlight
- good for saving battery life - which is generally good •
Brill Camera – not put it on a PC yet to see and compare it
with w800i which was of exceptional quality • Expandable memory
• Slim and light compared to w800i and 8210 • Can enter
occasions, meetings in the calendar as a default – this is
also the same as 8210 but not as w800i • User friendly menu
and screen • Spacey keypad • SOFTWARE IS SO EASY TO
USE – NOKIA NAD SONY NEED TO LEARN THIS Cons • There
is no message counter – silly as contracts often allocate
text messages, I don’t suffer as I have Flex T so check online
• My handset does not seem to register sent messages –
I tried on settings but no option there – maybe a fault on
my handset • There are no pre loaded games • Ring tones
are poor – not even your average Ring Ring – can be
downloaded for the cost of 20 points at samsung site • Options
for camera is via keypad numbers not by selecting menu – takes
time to get used to – does help if you have a manual •
No MANUAL in the box • Casing is finger print magnet and is
prone to scratches • Slower than Nokia 8210 and W800i in loading
pictures – very slow • Cannot change middle button shortcut
– default is connection to GPRS – very annoying if this
costs you • Only two skins- white and black – don’t
know if you can download more themes • Pause button for mp3
is very close to menu button and I mean very close • Poor
mp3 sound quality in comparison to w800i [bare in mind w800i is
specially for mp3] • Voice recorder is poor again compared
to w800i and 8210 • No light on the phone as with w800i –
life saver in cinema or when you go camping or even if you drop
something in the car • No PROFILES silly yes but there you
go I got the phone because its light and looks sexy and slim, im
ok to put it into a pouch and keep it safe, but i do agree that
the sliding is very poor, i will try add to this once i have more
of a fiddle. Out of 10 i would give this 7/10, i would give the
w800i 6/10 because and i would give the 8210 8/10. So there you
have it now its time for you to decide. Best to make sure you can
return the phone, im not to sure if i will return my phone, it looks
good and is slim and has the basic things. To be honest this phone
has been rushed out to compete with LG and could have been better
if they took more time. I got mine on a 12 month contract so its
ok, my w800 was on an 18month contract but i got bored of it because
it was to bulky and joystick was poor. Im happy with this phone
:)

Today, I popped into my local phone shop and had a play with this
phone. I have to say, it looks great but unfortunately that is where
it stopped. There is no expandable memory, the touch sensitive buttons
drove me mad, and the camera is only 1.3 megapixel. After some debate,
I opted for the D600, which in my opinion is loads better.

To Craig from UK on 22nd Jun 2006 You asked "With the K750i
you could have 1 contact with numerous contact numbers for them,
with the E900 from what i've seen it looks like you have to have
a separate contact for every number, anyway of changing this?"
You have to copy all your contacts into the phones Phonebook, Then
you'll have multipul spaces for other numbers.

Just upgraded to the Samsung E900 from a Sony K750i. Couple of queries
that can hopefully be answered quickly by any experienced Samsung
mobile users!!! 1. When receiving files via bluetooth you are required
to pair with the device sending (not sure if this is the same when
sending from the E900, but i'd guess it would be!). Anybody know
how to turn this off so you can just send files freely without having
to pair first? 2. With the K750i you could have 1 contact with numerous
contact numbers for them, with the E900 from what i've seen it looks
like you have to have a separate contact for every number, anyway
of changing this? Phone looks very smart but think its gonna take
some getting used to!!!

Firstly, I’m a phone connoisseur, Having recently placed my
D600 in the draw and after handing back my SE W810i, I reverted
back to my Motorola Pebl. I believe that firstly a phone should
be a phone and any other feature should be a plus. For those added
features, camera,MP3 player they should be of outstanding quality
and better that the competition, if not then don’t add it.
When I caught a glimpse of the Samsun E900, Nice looking phone seem
to have great features, and much better software and quality that
LG’s Chocolate. I want to like the phone, but the unit seems
to be such hard work of doing anything, compared to other manufactures,
a couple of click’s and that’s your text message send,
or schedule an appointment or connect you Bluetooth. With the E900
everything seems requires pushing extra buttons in order to get
anything done, the unit seems to want constant confirmation of you
request, the touch buttons are tricky and start to get on your nerves
when you busy and starts to drain your patients. With regards to
text messages, sometimes there fast sometimes there slow. Accessing
your pictures can be slow, depending on the size then the unit starts
to slow down. All I could have lived with except for the most important
thing CALL QUALITY, I can’t believe this, it’s so tinny
no bass or quality tone generally people sound like there heads
in a bucket (tried 3 networks call quality is the same). D600, D800
excellent call quality, sadly this unit doesn’t, for a terrific
looking phone on par with the Motorola Pebl, sadly the features
lack the quality they need. If none of this bothers you, then buy
the unit, but I must agree with another comment, Buy a D600 if you
want a Samsung, more stable and better quality of all the features.

Recieved my E900 last week but had to return it as it woulden't
recieve text messages! Had my replacemant now and i'm very impressed.
The usual comments of getting used to the touch keys. I had it side
by side with my brothers D600 and the screen quality is far clearer
as is the camera and video. It's a bit lighter thana D600 but it
looks far more classy! My advice is to go and actually feel one
and have a play with one before you commit yourself but i reckon
you'll be well impressed. I had to wait for my replacement due to
the fact it's sold within days of it's release! Now that says a
lot?

What can i say? This phone is AMAZING! I got an upgrade from my
old phone, the d500 which was fantastic. But this is even better!!
For starters it look stunning, not quite as nice as the chocolate
but this is outweighed with the features. 2 mega pixel camera, which
has fantastic clarity, a music player which, when activated reveal
the play/pause key, and the skip keys. It has a beautifull slide
which is smooth like the d500 and 80mb of inbuilt memory which can
be expanded with a micro SD memory card. In the box is included
headphone/ handsfree ,a charger (Which has got smaller) and a usb
cable with fantastic software. The buttons are easy to use but take
a day or two to get used to. overall FANTASTIC! 10/10 5 *****!!!!!!Buy
this phone!

I wrote the first review on this phone as i loved it then but wasn't
sure whether i was going to keep it cuz of the touch keys. Now i
am totally in love with it and samsung continues to keep me hooked, this
relationship has been a long and happy one.The key pads are great
now im used to and it don't bounce back and fore anymore now when
touching the keys,i must make a confession though,i took the e900
and swapped it for the lg chocolate phone just to see what it was
like as i have never had an lg b4,big mistake i lasted less than
24 hrs before taking the phone back today to get the ace e900 back
and im glad. The camera is ace and still ticks all the right boxes
in the added features like effects, frames mosaic shot, they're great. The
memory can be expanded so you can put loads of stuff on it,the mp3
player is great, nice and loud. The screen nice and clear and there
is loads of stuff on it,i can't stop playing with it.I still stand
by the fact that samsung should have put more tones on the phone
and espaecially if there are people out there who just want their
phone to ring like a normal phone, here is a tip.I went on samsung's
web site and go on to the fun club and sign up to be a member (which
is free) there are loads of tones, poly and ring ring tones which
you can download onto pc then use usb cable to transfer, great, problem
solved. So all you people out there thinking of getting the chocolate
phone keep walking past it in the shop and set your eyes on this
beauty, you will want it and you will buy it,you won't regret it.I
promise

Cool looking phone, but the touch sensitive buttons get really annoying.
Don't always work when you want them to, and do work when you don't
(e.g. when I brush past them when texting (which closes the text)).
Phone seems slow to load photo albums up. I only have 3 photos on
the phone and it takes about 3 seconds to load the album, really
annoying. I got this phone last week on upgrade from my D500, but
I'm changing it to the Sony W810i, as it seems they've finally sorted
out the joystick problem.

I like this phone, the features are great and easy to navigate through.
The Camara is excellent quality as is the video recording. I love
the feature of being able to save a video clip as your wallpaper,
very cool. The heat sensitive buttons took a while to get used to
but I am used to them now. My only major problem is with the calling.
When I call a number it takes about 30 - 40 seconds to connect,
also when sending a text it takes up to 30 seconds to send, this
is extremely annoying. I spoke with O2 and they said there is definatly
a problem and told me to return my phone and they would send me
a replacement straight away. I am now waitin for my replacement
I hope that problem is sorted because apart form that I think the
phone is top draw !

it is only mine then im thinking of swapping it for a new handset
. I'd appreciate any feedback on this flaw. Thanks

Got this phone about a week ago as an upgrade. It does take a little
getting used to, as I'm usually one whose not incredibly delicate
with phones, I like durability. I'm sure this phone might have SOME
but I'm afraid to test it! Either way, once you get used to it,
it's a pretty snazzy and cool little phone. It looks great on any
pub table and the amount of times I've heard "wow that's a well
ace looking phone" or something of that ilk is countless! Also,
the Samsung software is really easy to use, a lesson that should
be learnt by Nokia PC Suite which I thought was pretty dire. Only
1 minor thing with this phone. On it's incoming call options, when
you select what you want the phone to do when a call comes, you
can select Vibrate, Vibrate then Melody, or Melody (melody being
your tone obviously- by the way put some MP3's on the phone cuz
Samsung tones suck!). Why can't you have vibrate and melody at the
same time? On Vib then Mel, it vibrates three times, then starts
ringing, but by the time it's gotten to about 3 seconds of the tune
it goes to voicemail. Is there a way around this? If not then I'm
not wholly happy with that, but I'll work around it I guess. Other
than that, wicked phone. Nice 2 MP camera for such a diddy phone,
looks ace and is great for people without massive sausage fingers!

Really pretty phone. Small and compact yet out performs many good
brand of Nokia I had owned before. The only drawback is the calender
menu, I think it is kind of limited in the number of appointments
it can hold. Samsung should kind of consider making the memory dynamic
so it can hold as many tasks and appointments as possible and the
phonebook should have address fields as well. Overall it is a great
phone, takes very sharp images and the expansion card slot is great
and very easily accessible. Sync with MS outlook is straight forward
once the software is installed. Good phone to invest in. I am sure
you will want to keep it for along time.

Very cool phone, small and neat with a new type of software that
takes some getting used to as i upgraded from my CHROME D600 which
i loved and the software for display was clearest and brightest
i have come across but the E00 is very differnt Darker loo's and
stuff but looks OOOBER cool, hasn't quite got the heavy quality
feel of my D600 and attract's the fingers prints a lot too, like
you get on a PSP. Again WHY didnt samsung take the opportunity to
offer this with a ability to use Mp3's as a Message tone, also the
tunes are rubbish and don't seem as load as the D600,Still not 100%
sure that i will keep this as i feel its a tough choice between
this and my Chrome D600!!!!!

This samsung is great so much better than the lg chocolate phone
in the fact that the camera is 2 mega pixel with a flash and expandable
memory, also there so many effects and frames you can use which is
great fun.The screen is crystal clear like the d600 and the battery
is still showing all bars and i bought it 2 days ago and played
with it alot so thats a plus for me.The tunes are really naff though
and not many of them on this model for some reason so if you don't
wan't to be embarrased when your phone rings download some mp3's,also
what is with samsung not providing memory cards lots of others do
like SE and nokia. The phone is nice and small, very sexy and should
get all the oohs and aahs and still has all the business functions
on it so not alot has changed exept for the HEAT SENSITIVE BUTTONS,now
its quite obvious that samsung are trying to kick lg's arse with
this and it do by miles but be warnes these heat sensitive buttons
are a bit of a nightmare at first being so sensitive i found that
when i was in the menu doing something it would bounce back to standby
or skip forward to something else, sometimes it seemed it would go
back to standby screen even when i hadn't pressed anything, but it's
getting easier to use now and i think i'm happy with it,i was going
to swap it for d600 chrome, can i have somebodies advice on that?
i suggest anyone thinking of buying this phone to go in the shop
and have a damn good play with it especialy those buttons just to
see if this phone is for you.other than that, top phone samsung but
please can we have some better tunes.
