N80 Review

Note: the N80 is now obsolete. For an updated version
we recommend the Nokia
N95 or Nokia
N95 8GB or Nokia
N95 Red or Nokia
N95 Red Sport from Dial-a-Phone. Check out their Nokia
N95 deals.
Probably the most highly anticipated of the new
N series phones, the N80 is also the one that most fails to live
up to expectations. On paper the N80 is a dream - it's the highest
spec smartphone ever released - but perhaps this is the reason for
the problems.
Starting with the physical design, the N80 is a
novel shape for a smartphone - a slide-up design, similar to the
Nokia 6280 or 6111.
This makes it both attractive and compact (for a smartphone). At
134g in weight, it's one of the lightest smartphones around, which
is a real achievement when you consider the features that have been
packed inside. However, the slide is nowhere near as good as the
smooth sliders from Samsung. It slides awkwardly open and won't
stay closed. There is a tendency for the slide to open by itself
when in a bag or pocket, which can lead to the phone unlocking and
making calls by itself. It is also necessary to lock the keypad
manually, making the whole thing quite annoying.
The N80 is a 3G smartphone, so it benefits from
a wide range of advanced software, plus excellent functionality
and connectivity. However, it's one of the most buggy and unstable
phones around. Perhaps future firmware upgrades will fix these problems,
but for now its an unreliable phone. Its also very slow, both to
boot up and in operation.
The N80 has one of the best LCD displays around
and is also the first phone in the UK to break the 3 megapixel camera
barrier. With a 3 megapixel camera it should take fantastic pictures,
but it manages to disappoint in this area too. It's nowhere near
as good as the Nokia N90 or Sony
Ericsson W900i, which are both rated at 2 megapixels. Video
quality is good however.
The N80 has an advanced music player with support
for playlists and easy access to your favourite music tracks. Audio
quality is excellent and a stereo headset is included in the sales
package. There's plenty of space for storing music too - a 128 Mbyte
memory card is
included as standard, in addition to the 40 Mbytes of internal memory.
Connectivity is a key feature of the N80. In addition
to Infrared and Bluetooth, the N80 has a wireless LAN. This enables
fast connection to a PC, for copying images, video or music files,
and also to access broadband internet via 3G. Wireless LAN can also
connect to other Wi-Fi enabled devices.
Battery life has to be mentioned, because it is
really quite bad. Expect to get no more than one or two days use
maximum from this phone. If you are expecting to make extensive
use of its music and smartphone features, you will find this to
be a real problem.
On paper, the N80 looks like the best phone ever,
but in reality it disappoints in many key respects. Opinions on
this phone tend to be divided, so read the user reviews below to
see what people are saying before making up your own mind.
Features of the Nokia N80 include:
- Symbian operating system (Series 60 3rd Edition)

I bought mine on the day of release, two weeks later there was rumour
of a firmware update, which even in Manchester required sending
the phone off to Nokia to install without voiding warranty. Aren't
these things supposed to be tested at all stages prior to release
(my Network's Orange by the way)? The operating system it runs is
too new to have a large selection of accessory applications ready
for it and some, though they claim to be compliant, fail to fully
incorporate into the phones menu system. I'm not sure whose fault
this is, but the end result is fine if you don't mind digging through
sub directories to start the application. The installed software
is feature poor, having moved down from a Sony Ericsson P910 to
this thing, I'm so very, very sorry I didn't just wait for the P990
to be released. Lesson learned. The Calender is no better than on
previous Nokia phones. Document readers are provided, but a text
based notepad is the only document creation software provided. This
is NOT a business phone. I don't care what anyone may claim to the
contrary. It's a device for making calls and crashing secondary
applications in the process. I still haven't figured out why they
bothered with a 'task manager' type of tool. It's not like this
phone will ever need it. The three mega pixel camera's a good idea,
in theory, but in practice the phone is practically incapable of
producing an image with the quality you'd expect to see when viewed
off the screen provided. Locking isn't reliable if you carry the
phone in a pocket. It tends to slip open freeing up the keys for
all manner of trouble. Personally I think Nokia have lost the plot.
This device is quite possible the most over-hyped, under performing
thing I've seen in years. Very poor.

I don't know what all the moans are for. I've had my N80 for a week
or so and have managed to make all the features work, connected
to my WLAN with no problems, had no software hang-ups, sent and
received MMSs to and from other networks, been able to turn off
network connections I didn't want active, managed not to upload
any photos unintentionally. In fact, I've had no problems at all.
The phone works just perfectly. Yes, it's a marginally larger and
a little heavier than most current phones, but look at whats crammed
into it. My only gripe - it would be nice to be able to set the
keylock to activate when you close the slide. All in all it gets
a big thumbs up from me.

I got the N80 after having a few "smart-phones". The fantastic 6600,
then the 6630 and the 6680. I must admit that I havn't used all
the features of the N80 yet and am a little dissapointed that Tomtom
havn't issued any sat nav software for it yet but it is a great
phone in my opinion. The battery life isn't fantastic but I have
been playing around with it for a while and after a few charges
I expect to see a better result than I have at the moment. A few
people have said that it is slow when selecting programs etc but
smart phones are slower than a normal mobile. The screen is the
best I've used and the camera is good too (although it lacks autofocus).
The speaker is loud and the slide is smooth. A little niggle is
that you have to physically lock the keypad when you close the slide
insted of it doing it automatically. In my opinion this is a very
good phone, and with the addition of wifi it makes it a truely mobile
office solution.

are minor. a true multipurpose integrated crackajack and i would
say the best spec on the mobile market today and will take some
beating especially the fact that its quite an attractive phone as
well Problems - Battery Juice drains very quickly and doesnt always
give a clear indication when its about to conk out. Memory card
problems bigtime - check forums for nokia, but you cannot use some
mini sd cards like Sandisk, but Adata cards work etc... Lots of
applications slow this phone downa dn it can crash.

Well i have been waiting for O2 to stock the nokia n80 for 3-4 months
then finally after my empty threat to move to orange they suddenly
had the phone in stock. I was so excited to receive it, i spent
the first few hours moving all my stuff from my NOKIA 7610 (which
was simple due to nokias very clever transfer option which moves
all my contacts, calender entries and gallery items at a touch of
a button) the only 2 problems are this 1) battery life - but that
doesnt really bother me. I just charge it... maybe the other reviewers
didnt get a charger? I use a car charger too when necessary or try
to keep my bluetooth and Wireless LAN off unless necessary. 2) SERIOUSLY
BAD SIGNAL. I returned the phone after 1 week to O2 after the signal
was 1-2 bars or no signal all the time. I was gutted but was sure
it was a one off fault... i was wrong. My second N80 was just the
same I love this phone. It provides me with everything i need for
my business and day to day use... except i cannot live with the
signal problems. I have had to send it back and get an older, inferior
phone. Im gutted. Come on NOKIA and O2 (put your heads together
and solve this problem!?)

Well I hear alot of bad things about the phone surprisingly. I have
only ever owned nokia's and my previous one is the 7610 which was
my first symbian sis phone. symbian means that it can run .sis program
files in an operating system mannor (you install and you run them)the
N80 is the Slikest symbian phone ive see and i traded up as soon
as i laid eyes on it. The battery life some people complain about
is a result of incorrect charging and use. My first tip for solving
this is for the first week of use let the phone charge fully and
then use it till the battery completely empties, secondly there
is a feature on this phone that not many users understand it can
put programs on stand-by so if you do not exit the app and press
the red button it is still running (THUS wasting precious battery)
to check this hold down the menu button for a few seconds and a
list of all the running applications will come up. overall beautful
phone i recommend that you search for free symbian sis apps or java
games for your phone on www.google.com however only the free ones.

Really disappointing, poorly designed phone - it's gone back to
be exchanged for another Sony Ericsson. Faults and poor points for
me (in one week of ownership) where: -too bulky -corrupted software
supplied with phone -rubbish battery life - 36 hours even with no
bluetooth -display breaks up all the time -phone book is useless
- no option to display the number -camera is fixed focus -flash
goes off AFTER you've taken the picture - USELESS -nothing to protect
the camera lens -Keypad lock is stupid - you need to open the phone,
shut it and confirm the action just to lock it off. -Slow browser
-Slow menus -Poor connectivity with PC -crappy, ancient T9 text
input. This is SO out of date now it's not acceptable Nokia used
to be top quality but in the last 2 or 3 years they've gone far

Well mine’s gone back to Orange – thankfully they have
a great returns policy. For the past 18 months I’ve been using
a Nokia 6230i and love it. The nice thing about Noikas as any longstanding
user will tell you – you can use them with your eyes shut
they are so simple. I really thought the N80 would be the answer
to my dreams with its superior camera, 3G and Wi fi, alas it wasn’t.
Slow menus, constant crashing, appalling battery life and disappointing
wi fi. Within just a few days, despite my initial enthusiasm I realised
it just wasn’t the phone for me. I’ve worked in mobile
industry for over 10 years and in my experience the only people
who will like this handset are the tekie types – everyone

one was running out of battery in half a day firstly and then would
not allow me to change the ringtone and kept resetting itself. Eventually
it was taking so long to open applications that the phone became
impossible to use so i had to take it back. I hesitated at first
with ordering another one, as the features and camera are so good
on the phone. Ive had nokias for the last 5 years so didnt really
want to change. New phone received, sim card inserted last night,
recognised, but i am unable to call out!!!! Then a message comes
up on the screen saying allow sim to send message, what is that
all about!!??, it keeps happening even after resetting the phone
four times. Phone is now back in the box and on the way to 02, it
lasted five minutes in the real world, this early batch of n80's
must all be pretty poor, cool looking phone, but wait til its niggle

I was so looking forward to getting this phone. What a disapointment.
It should have been an excellent phone but too many things let it
down. I'm sending mine back to Orange. The battery life is poor
(well documented). There is no date on the main screen (looked in
manual & settings and even phoned Club Nokia - nothing at all about
the date being able to be displayed or taken off.). When writing
a long text all the lines "shift" to the left, cutting off the first
1 or 2 letters of each line. The characters are also too small .
Perhaps iv got a faulty phone who knows. By the way, thanks Orange
for getting straight back to me when i complained about these problems.
That was 2 days ago and still no call back. Also the slide is, well,
rubbish. There isnt enough resistance when opening. Unlike the D500/600
which has a positive open and close sliding mechanism. Its all too
easy to half open the phone (just by holding it or in your pocket).
Its also sooooooo slow. Im used to the symbian operating system
but this phone takes nearly 30 seconds to start up! The menus are
pretty much the same as my old 6680, they just look a bit nicer
thats all. This phone could, and should have been fantastic. Instead
its just average. Nokia needs to learn from its mistakes and improove
its products! I'm now waiting for the Sony Ericsson K800i.

Waited two months for this fabulous phone. So anyway, better explain
in brief why I give one star. MMS wouldn't work, Orange say they
fixed it except now I can only recieve MMS from another Orange phone!
Then I have to turn 3G off, indefinitely! Why? Because every time
I make a call I get a connection error if it's turned on. So I have
a 3G phone which can't use 3G. Then the photography app from Orange,
( actually, this may be all about Orange), kept defaulting to a
setting which meant I was inadvertantly uploading pictures to an
online gallery at over £8 per picture!!! Today I have problems with
my connection breaking up even though I have full signal and 3G
is OFF. Then I find my phone connects to Orange internet even though
I have disabled it for another reason. It just connects when I disconnect
a phone call! Orange say they are aware of this issue and blame
Nokia. I had the Samsung D500 before this one - although I had to
change the handset 3 times in 12 month s under insurance due to
button faults, it did, however, during normal conditions, WORK!
Oh, the camera works on the N80 and IS great! Honest.

I'm writing this review as I have just sent my 2nd nokia back to
O2. The first was sent back as the "muvee" creator application on
the phone caused the phone to freeze midway through the application,
the second phone I received had exactly the same fault. Had this
not occured I would have been pleased with the phone and maybe given
it 4-4half stars. Maybe I was just unlucky and recieved two phones
from a dodgy batch. If I was to rate the phone on its applications/camera/ease
of use and sound quality I'd give this 5 stars. However it loses
stars on looks, i've upgraded from a nokia 7610 and the n80 is much
chunkier. This didn't bother me too much until I seen the e900.
When both phones are laid out on a flat surface, the nokia can open
it's slider over the top of the whole samsung phone. I know samsung
doesn't have 3g, as good camera (2mp opposed to 3mp), however after
looking at the shots on both there isn't much difference on the
phone screen, this may change if photo's are being developed however.
I would recommend this phone to someone who likes nokias and wants
an excellent camera, however beware of faults as the n80 seems to
be rushed out.

I have looked through the reviews but cannot find anyone with the
same problem I have. First the N80 apparently does not syncronise
the phone book with my fully installed in car hands free Bluetooth
kit. Second, the CP-93 case I purchased from Nokia on line shop
does not have secure belt clip, its just line a clothes peg, it
allows the phone to fall off the belt, the phone also falls on the
floor when the velcro flap opens as it revolves 360 degrees. The
CP-93 case does not give sufficient room to hold the N80 and somehow
the N80 turns it self on obviously by keys being poressed with the
tight case and this is only noticed when music starts playing on
it. It also dials the last number because somehow the phone lock
opens even in the case. I am very dissapointed after returning to
Nokia after a bad experience with the Motorola V3. I have contacted
Nokia Head Office in Finland, I have sent 5 faxes and not one reply.
I have emailed though the internet and direct but you get passed
from one department to another eventually getting told to write
to Nokia in Edinburgh, no good if you want to sue them because they
may well operate under Scottish Law so you would have to get a Writ
in the Scottish courts. I have just found Nokia UK address and I
am writing to them to give them a chance to remedy the defects in
the phone and the case. Its seems Nokia are that big they just dont
want to know, even their chief executive ignores faxes sent to him

Firstly, let me start by saying that this is a great phone. My previous
two phones were the Nokia 6680 and the Sony ericsson P900. I would
sometimes wish the 6680 had some features from the SE, but since
I've had the N80, i've forgotten about all my other phones! Asthetically
it looks great (i've got the stainless one not the black one) its
shorter and narrower but slightly thicker than the 6680 and it feels
well built. The screen sits slightly below the surface of the phone
which means it is less likely to get scratched. The screen resolution
is really sharp and looks good. The phone has all the functions you
need and I don't find the phone slow which some previous reviewers
have suggested. My battery lasts ok too, i've not had to charge
it any more than my 6680. i have had a couple of glitches, i tried
to delete a photo and the phone froze and i had to turn it off and
on again and it's been fine since. And using the camera the screen
has gone flickered a bit, but i'll upgrad e the software to the
most recent firmware and i'm sure those problems will be ironed
out. The 3 meg camera is good, the best i've used on a camera phone,
although once the pic's are loaded onto my computer they're not
as sharp as ones from my 3 meg camera. The slide on this phone locks
opened positively but when its closed it slides up a little easily
which means that if it is in your pocket and it slides up a little,
the key lock can come off. But that is my only complaint. Overall
this is the best mobile i've had and would highly recommend it!

I like this phone! I'm very surprised by all the negative reviews
so far. It is a very neat and well built model. It's been a while
since i owned a Nokia phone so it has taken a some time to get used
to. I would suggest reading the manual to get the most out of this
phone as there are a lot of new features which you might not know
about unless you read it. The camera on my N80 is exceptional for
a phone! It's as good as my 4MP Casio camera, I'm shocked about
other peoples thoughts on this? Maybe they are not using it properly?
(On the back of the phone move the button to the triangle setting,
i found this better for normal use). The battery life is not great
but it does say optimum life is found after a few full charges and
discharges. It only takes 1 hour to charge from flat which is good
too! I turned off the screen saver, dimmed the display slightly,
left bluetooth switched off and found this all helped a lot! It's
a very customisable phone, you can change the appearance of the
menu's, themes, screen savers etc. The phone came with plenty of
extras too, like a decent hands free kit, aerial for the radio,
memory card, display wipe and a clever attachment which allows you
to charge the phone with a standard Nokia charger. I paid £50 for
this phone on a £40 a month tariff from Orange.

dont believe the rubbish about the battery life being poor, it's
just as good as any phone currently out there if not better!! the
reason it gets 3 stars is because changing between menus is a teency
bit slow and sketchy and more importantly the nokia n80 is a complete
BRICK!!! if your after a phone that will turn heads do not, i repeat,
DO NOT get this phone! may look nice in pictures which i first thought
but its pretty boring, basic, heavy and FAT when handling one. if
its the aesthetic needs that you seek from a phone get a samsung

it can do,it def gets 5* in that department but due to it's poor
design it gets a 3!

Had the Nokia N80 about 2 weeks now. Looked forward to this phone
for months. On receipt very dissapointed. Biggest gripe is the battery
life. On maximum charge with absolutely no use of the phone, it
can barely reach 48 hours. On maximal use for calls, you had better
be plugged into the mains! This phone will also get VERY hot on
anything more than a short call - i suppose this correlates with
the poor battery life and general energy wastage. Occasionally will
reset itself too.......... Camera, - well this proves that megapixels
aren't everything, 3MP yes- but do you end up with a good picture?
rarely, - blurred images seem the norm -even with the steadiest
of hands. All in all - I have decided to forgo this phone - before
it I was using Nokia 1600 ! -( no camera, no bluetooth, no WLAN),
not much according to some people - BUT battery life is 7 days,
and a phone which I can slip into a jean pocket without looking
like I am having an errection! ehough said!

There are a feww weak points with the phone which are as follows:
1.It sometimes crashes particularly when creating a text messege.
2.The keys are a bit cramped. 3.The battery starts to run down after
three days. But all in all it is a good phone. It is tiny and stylish
especially with the pearl black color. It is rather powerful from
the viewpoint of signal reception even in blind areas. The Resolution
of the screen is incredible and the slider works so smooth you can't
hear the least clicking sound. There are certainly many other outstanding
specifications I can't discuss on now. It's rather dear but it's

to have a VERY steady hand or else the photos are blurred. and the
zoom isnt too flash. the battery lasts less than a day, and that
is only after sending a few texts and making one call. menu is very
confusing, and although it is a brand new phone, some options seem
dated. not really an up point, maybe if a business man had it they'd

I read through all of the reviews before finally buying this phone,
I was very very dubious as alot of people said battery camera etc
etc but I tell you what, it is an amzin phone. Yes the camera is
slow but compared to what a hand held digital camera?and even then
it is fast compared to other phones. It is missing the Carl Zeiss
Lense but this one is easily good enough if people want to take
amazing one off pictures then go buy a professional camera, for
some good flicks this is awesome. In the box there is the usb cable,
headphones and an attachment to plug in your own ear phones which
i have used to connect to my car stereo, nice touch! Pity the usb
couldnt charge it as well. I have used this phone for a couple of
days and some of the features for example picture viewing is just
really smart and finished nicely. It does take a couple of seconds
to load but I do have 200 pictures in there now. The slide is a
bit loose but still feels solid and the blue lights behind the buttons
are really smart. As for the battery I cant really knock it compared
to the size of the screen as my last phone was a k750i I thought
it would just go down while I was looking at it!My mates have just
had phones all new and this is the daddy, looks, feel, getting used
to, and the nokia pc suite works a treat even better than the sony.
Transfering files is amazingly fast to the PC, just need to try
the WLAN connection now and then I am sorted!I decided to try this

I've had my Nokia N80 for 2 weeks and, overall, I'm impressed. It
looks good and the slider seems fine to me. I'm only getting one
day out of each battery charge but that's enough. One problem seems
to be that in weak signal areas the phone isn't as reliable as my
Nokia 6230 which gets a 2 bar signal when the N80 has none! Wi-fi
is a real asset and so easy to set up. The screen is a bit small
for using the internet effectively but it's okay. The music player
is excellent and I have purcgased a 2Gb mini-SD card to increase
storage. The FM radio works well too. My only real criticisma are:
1. Lack of software, but hopefully that will improve. 2. I'm 47
and my eyes are starting to go so the very small font size is difficult
to read. 3. The Calendar application is poor. (3rd party software
not yet available.) Assuming I can get decent Organiser software
at some stage I'm sold. With that it's a 5* phone.

Complete and utter trash! I foolishly ordered this phone without
checking reviews first. After receiving it I only then read other
reviews which all stated the battery life is poor - and they are
so right. With barely a days use it goes from full to nearly dead!
The other most annoying thing is that it keeps secretly connecting
to the WAP internet with out telling you. Even if you make sure
all the settings have been changed to make sure it does not happen,
when you switch the phone off and on again it still connects. If
you do not have a pre paid promotional download offer then this
will cost you. Lastly it switches on very slowly indeed - a bit
like a PC starting up. This is meant to be a phone, not a computer
(even though they are becoming more and more sophisticated all the
time). The phone is very chunky, and the slide mechanism is a bit
wobbly - basically cheap and inferior. So all in all this phone
is utter rubbish from a practical usability aspect, so definitely
do not purchase it and get a more established phone that has been
around for sometime where all the teething problems have been resolved.
Thanks for reading this. Miles FB

I got the N80 after many weeks and months of checking out other
phones. Initially the phone usage time was to say the least extremely
poor. It would run down in less than 5 hours. A bit of a pain to
say the least. But I have made some changes to the base setting
of the phone and it will now last 3 days happily making phonecalls
using wifi and listening to mp3s. You need to change the display
down to its lowest brightness, (menu, tools, settings, phone, display)
turn off 3g connection (menu, tools, settings, network) and most
importantly the access point power (menu, tools, settings, connection,
wireless lan, options, advanced settings, tx power level I changed
this from 100 to 4). I can play mp4 etc but had to get a piece of
software from www.imtoo.com which encodes dvd straight to phone
compatible files (they are called 3gp2). and you can try it for
free www.imtoo.com/3gp-video-converter.html The only other little
niggling thing is that it has the latest symbian software that comes
with the phone is the latest version and so is not compaible with
earlier versions. which means that you have to wait for the latest
versions of software to com out like tom tom etc.

Such a frustrating phone !! I have not owned a Nokia for a couple
of years but the features on the N80 tempted me to buy it. The warnings
about the battery life were ignored by me but my God, it lasts less
than two days with minimal use if lucky. If you use the phone to
call a lot, I suppose there just might be some people who use phones
for this purpose, then you better reckon on flashbacks to 1995 as
you will struggle to get one whole days use. My wife has had a 6660
for ever and this N80 is little quicker than it in operation. What
has Nokia been doing for the last two years ? Software : comes with
PC Suite which I would use for transferring pics to use as wallpapers.
Updated to the latest version via Nokia website and they have decided
to remove this facility, presumably to force you to buy their own.
The camera is poor but this does not bother me. This phone should
be so much better than it is but it does do the basics well i.e
calls are clear and reception is good, texting is easy and it has
a very sharp screen. Wait for the N73 would be my advice.

First things first...When you get the phone the battery will not
last long. However, Give it a few charges and drains and it should
get better. I get 2 days of moderate use now and still have 3 bars
left. The slide is not spring load like a d600, but does have a
smooth action with some resistance and a click as it goes to the
extent of its travel. How people say they can make calls when in
their pocket I dont know. Fair enough, it doesnt auto lock (like
the d600) but when you close it you get the option to lock it and
its only one key press. Continuing the d600 comparison, the camers
is far superior as to be expected, but what i didnt expect was when
I put it next to the D600 it was only VERY SLIGHTLY bigger. The
media player is nokias usual standard, nowt special but nothing
wrong with it. All in all, an excellent phone, so much so that im

Lol, to the reviewer bellow. This phone has WiFi & Bluetooth. How
can you complain that it has no infared. Infared is a dying breed
and will soon be non existant. Im really please with this phone,
the camera quality is superb, and the fact that you can connect
to Wifi hot spots, and your own home network to add/take off media
content, makes this phone a killer! Yes it's a bit of a slow thinker
at times. But i'm sure it will be improved with firmware updates.
Its rammed to the gills with features, and is a gadget phreeks dream.
I was tempted by all these free PSPs offers flying around with older
phones. I think i made the right choice.

I was hyped about this phone but now that i have seen it, its just
a squashed N70 with a 3MP cam! The things this phone lacks are,
no cover for the cam, infared & a decent battery life! Nokia, pull
your socks up, we expect better! Its just plain lazy!

Great looking phone, loads of features, only one complaint is the
slide action, could be made stiffer like on the 6280, i have made
calls whilst it was in my pocket, as you can lock the outer keypad
but it unlocks when you slide the phone. so nearly the perfect phone
for me hence 4 out of 5

This phone is absolutely amazing, every aspect of it is made to
perfection. My only problem with it is the battery life which only
lasts around 4 or 5 days. But forget that you can charge it !!!
go buy one now, its flawless!!!... GO BUY IT NOW

Just got this phone yesterday and I think it's a very good phone,
for such a small device it has just about every feature one could
want on a phone and then some, I long been a fan of Nokia's series
60 platform and this one doesn't disappoint, it's got a few bugs
but in my experience with Nokia they release a firmware upgrade.
I just got this phone to replace a Samsung Z320i which was in some
ways a decent phone but fell way short of what's required on a modern
3g handset. The N80 though is a superb concept and great execution,
but for a few small problems such as a poor slider mechanism and
slightly sluggish software I'd give this phone 5 stars.

I can't believe people are leaving negative comments, this is the
best mobile phone Nokia have produced since the 3210 in its day.
After looking at about a thousand phones, trying to decide which
one is going to replace my i-Mate SP5 i have finally found it...
The Nokia N80. My honest opinion is that this phone is a Carl Zeiss
lens away from being a PERFECT phone. This in No Way insinuates
that the N80's camera is bad... My suggestion is... If you know
a little something about phones and you are not afraid of features,
BUY THIS PHONE!!!! THE END!

Wow!!! This phone is amazing! It's a rare Quadband phone, with an
amazingly hi-res screen 352 x 416 pixels which no other phone can
currently compete with. It's the first ever phone to have UPnP technology
allowing streaming to tv and hifi.. it also has WLAN technology
allowing free internet connection (at broadband speed) through wireless,
directly to the latest nokia HTML/xHTML browser. It has the best
operating system (s60 3rd edition) with a 3.2 mpx camera and visual
radio. Id say overall it is better than the new N73 and N93 even
though they have upgraded cameras this has more and better features!!!

Ive used all of the latest nokia n series, n70, n71, n90, n91 and
i think the n80 is the best one, they were all at the e3 gadget
show and i also got to use some japanese phones that will probably
come out in the us 10 years later they had up to 10 mega pixels
with optical zoom, the japanese are so ahead of us, still the phones
i used are still worth waiting 10 years

I have recently purchased the nokia n80, and before that i had many
other smart phones such as sony eric p910, spvs along with some
other nokia's and i have to say of all phone i have used this is
the best one, i do not understand some of these bad review the n80
is a more advanced better looking phone than the 6630 it's better
in every coner but yet your saying the 6630 is better, i also owne
the n90 and even though the n80 is a 3mega pixel camera the quality
is inferior to that of the Nokia N90 but because of the screen on
the n80 which is a lot better, infact it is the best out now on
any smart phone the pictures look a lot better on the n80, and one
must say it is a great looking phone and in black it goes nice in
any one's hand. this small phone has so many features that even
after a mounth it can still surprise you. this phone is great the
best i've used and i would deeply recommend it.

Ok, all those who criticise the n80 are probably sony eric. or a
different phone company supporter and u jus can't believe how amazing
it is!! Honestly, if u want some expert help then go 2 the no.1
gadget mag site in the world which is www.stuffmag.co.uk or just
buy the magazine which is called stuff. They have given this phone
a five star rating and even said it WAS the best smartphone in the
world. And jus so u know, the sony ersicson smartie, p990i was put
up against it and it didn't stand a chance, in other words, u ARE
insane if u dislike this phone for any sort of reason at all, if
this phone was any better, we might jus pass out. It is the best
phone yet for its small, sleek design and of course its wind range
of features and yes it has a 3 meg cam, thats better than the n90,
although it doesn't have auto focus n carl zeis, its still sharper.
Nokia, wat magic potion did u use 2 fit all these features into
a small, sleek beutiful phone cause i really wanna hav some.

The only good thing abt N80 is the camera clarity and its classy
looks. It has a 3mpx with 20x digital zoom. But the new Sony Ericsson
K790i with 3.2mpx cybershot phone is far ahead from N80. The memory
of N80 sucks with only 40mb internal and 128mb sd card provided.
The other plus point of this phone is W-LAN were we can drag and
drop songs straight from your laptop. The phone is not worth the
cash. I would rather prefer the N90.

This is really the worst phone i have ever used. Got it a week days
back. the camera takes more than 12 long seconds to get on... the
clarity is ok.. but n90 beats it in clarity even though its jus
2megapixel only... the volume in the music player is very very low...
the flash is also a bad one... the only thing good about it is jus
the design of the phone. looks good in ones hand... please avoid
buying this phone. go for sony ericsson k800.
