Nokia
N70 Review
Phone
rating:
The Nokia N70 is the first of the Nokia Nseries
smartphones to be released in the UK. The N70 is a 3G smartphone,
similar to the popular and successful 6680,
but with upgraded features.
Physically the N70 is similar in appearance to
the Nokia 6680, with a conventional boxy shape and a functional
(but small) keypad with a five-way scroll key, two soft keys, an
application key, and a multimedia key. The N70 is slightly thicker
than the 6680, but lighter. The screen is a good size and the two
cameras are well located. Overall, it's a good, practical design
for a smartphone, and the most traditional-looking of the Nseries
phones. The surface does scratch however, so take good care of it.
The N70 is a powerful imaging device with a high
quality camera with 2 megapixels. This is the first Nokia phone
to break the 2 megapixel barrier. The camera has a very powerful
20x digital zoom, an integrated flash and a choice of modes including
scenery, portrait, night and sports. It's possible to control settings
such as brightness, white balance settings and colour tones. The
camera, whilst good, isn't as good as the 2 megapixel camera on
the Sony Ericsson K750i or
W900i. There's a dedicated
camera button and a protective slide. Nokia XpressPrint enables
you to print photos directly to a PictBridge-compliant printer.
Video recording is also possible (but not at the 2 megapixel resolution).
A Movie Director application is supplied for editing videos.
The N70 has the full range of 3G capabilities,
including video calling, video downloads and video/music streaming.
A second VGA resolution camera is used for making video calls. Data
transfer via 3G is very fast, opening up the possibility of media
streaming and music or video downloads. The display on the N70 is
very good with 262k colours and a bright active matrix display.
It's a great multimedia device.
The RealPlayer media player supports video playback
in MPEG4 format, plus audio in a choice of formats including MP3,
AAC, Real Audio, WAV and Nokia Ring Tones. The Visual Radio lets
you listen to songs from radio stations, with information about
the song and artist. A stereo headset is supplied as part of the
sales package.
The
internal memory of the device is 30 Mbytes, with the addition of
a 64 Mbyte MMC card
which can be hot-swapped. Connectivity is via Bluetooth or USB.
The
N70 takes the 6680 and adds a few more features such as the enhanced
camera. In so many ways it's an outstanding phone, but there are
several things that let it down. First of all, the effect of adding
in all these features has made the user interface very slow. It's
not an easy phone to use, takes a long time to boot up, and does
have a tendency to freeze or shut down. The camera isn't as good
as you'd expect from a 2 megapixel device and the screen isn't as
good as you'd expect from its specification. The keypad isn't easy
to use if you have large fingers and the overall build quality of
the N70 doesn't seem to be that great. In particular the sliding
camera cover always seems to be about to fall off. Don't assume
that the N70 is actually any better than the 6680
that it replaced. The new N73 upgrades
the N70 significantly and is a better phone.
Features of the Nokia N70 include:
- 2 megapixel camera (1600 x 1200 pixels) with
20x digital zoom and flash
- Video recorder
- Second VGA camera (640 x 480 pixels ) with 2x
digital zoom for video calling

Well, here's my second review. And I still haven't changed my opinion,
despite everyone telling me that the keypad apparently decides whether
it is dull enough for the backlights to be on. I got rid of this
phone as soon as I could but my colleague has one and says the keypad
drives him mad as well. The buttons are so small that it would be
very handy if the keypad lit up all the time anyway, and sometimes
it is very dull but the phone still thinks it's light enough and
he has had to cover up the light sensor himself to get the keypad
to light up. But anyway, I'm so glad I got rid of this phone after
reading all the complaints about the cheap feel of the phone, the
poor camera and blurred screen, etc. I now have the SE W900i and
believe me, that phone does everything. Never mind 15 FPS, the W900i
captures video at 30 FPS. The camera is the same at 2megapixels,
but somehow seems far superior, and it has autofocus, which makes
a huge difference. It's simple to use, has the added convenience
of the Walkman feature, a massive 470mb internal memory plus memory
stick, and when you press a button it actually jumps into action
instantly. With the N70, I had time to make a cup of tea and paint
my toenails while I waited for it to do something. Sooo painfully
slow. Anyone thinking about getting a 3G phone should seriously
consider the W900i. There isn't anything they don't - or can't -
do.

this has fantastic features and has a nice big clear screen, and
the camera is fantastic with 20 times zoom, but the size and the
weight of the phone is a disadvantage aswell as the price campared
to other phones with this ability. and the camera cover is awkward
although its handy protecting the camera, it can rattle after sliding
open several times, but still hasnt fallen off.

Only had the Nokia N70 for two days, but so far it is an excellent
phone except for one point - you cannot turn off (or turn down the
volume) of the 'start up' tone. Each time I turn on the phone, the
start up tone sounds and it is extremely loud. This may not worry
some people, but I don't always want people to know when I have
turned my phone on! You can get around the problem by pressing a
key as the phone starts up (if you can remember to do this), but
it is still extremely annoying - all my previous Nokia phones have
had a setting to allow you to switch this tone off. If it wasn't
for this, I would give the phone 5 stars because I cannot fault
it in any other way.

Had the N70 now for about 5 weeks, took a bit of getting used to
having had SE K700i, Samsung D600, although these were great phones,
the N70 is a class above, with the 3G Compatability and all other
aspects of the phone make it feel and look expensive. As far as
getting used to it, it can be a bit confusing navigating round the
menus as there is so much on it, but give it a week or two and you
will be fine. My main concern at first was the size, however it
is still fairly light and after the initial settling in period you
would'nt even no its any bigger than your last 2g phone. The only
problem I have had apart from the sloww start up, is when trying
to connect it to the computer to transfer files, it would'nt transfer
any of my photos from pc to phone, when I went into the folder on
the pc it displays the photos on the folder but when clicking in
the folder is empt, this may be due to it not supporting the format,
however I doubt it, or it could be that I am not the biggest whiz
kid in town and have done something wrong, I don't know, if anyone
does let me know, still to try again mind you. If you have been
considering this phone, don't waste anymore time go out and get
one, I am very fussy and although I did not need a 3g phone as it
is not imn my area under O2 at the moment altghough coming shortly
I wanted the best phone I could get and as far as I am concerned
I got it. Fras

Have just bought the N70 and think it is a great phone. It has many
good multi media features and office software. The video recording
and playback is excellent for a mobile phone and captures in mpeg4
352X288 at 15 FPS and plays back files converted from other digital
sources in the same res and frame rate. MP3 tracks sound great,
it has a radio, and memory can be expanded with DV RS-MMC card..
A little disappointed in the camera, its OK for a mobile still but
not great although I haven’t fully explored all the image
settings and taken photos in different lighting conditions. It has
a large screen, easier on the eye than most when viewing photos
and video clips. It uses the Symbian OS which seems a bit complicated
at first but you soon found your way round it and its much like
any traditional phone menu system - a bit slow on start up but OK
navigating round the menus. Calls are clear and texting is pretty
good even with quite small buttons. I feel the phone will scratch
quite easily so take care of it. All in all it is a good phone withy
plenty of features - It’s an ipod, video ipod, camera, camcorder
combo which you can use as a quality phone too.

Why have so many people given this 5 Stars? Are they employed by
Nokia to submit rave reviews of their products to websites? I am
a big Nokia fan - all the phones I have had in the past have been
excellent; The N70 is however, way off the mark. There are a raft
of complaints including the camera slide and the quality of the
pictures (2MP it might be but it is still pants) The crucial failing
of the phone though, is the software - It is very very slow. It

I ended up with this phone as I've previously had trouble with sony/ericcson
& Motorola, so I thought I'd have a go with a Nokia again and its
been first class, I've had the phone for about 2 weeks and have
had no problems with it freezing or any other faults that other
people have. The build quality is your usual high quality Nokia,
it does'nt feel as good as a Razr or Pebl but then I havn't had
it crash on me like I've had those do. People have suggested the
camera slide appears like it won't last but I think it depends on
how well you look after your phone,I've just bought a cover a bit
like the silicone ipod skins which isn't baulky and seems to be
protecting it well so I'd recommend one of them anyway. The camera
is good quality its got a flash built in but the subject your taking
the photo of does need to be close or the picture tends to be very
grainy, in normal light you can't fault it. The video camera I've
found to work very well and is pretty smooth in playback mode. I've
had a play with the TV which is excellent as its only a phone youe
watching, some of the channels you can pick up live e.g Sky sports
& sky sports news othe channels don't appear to broadcast the same
schedule as your normal TV at home. The bluetooth function is excellent
and very quick in finding other bluetooth phones etc. The real player
is excellent especially when used with the nokia pc software that
the phone comes bundled. The nokia software will compress nearly
any video file so it will fit on the phone, for instance I compressed
a half hour Ali G show and it only took up 29mb of the supplied
64mb memory card. Ok you do lose quality but its still very watchable.
Some of the other features are1, that you can download any photo
off of your pc to use as a screen saver etc. 2, Any tune stored
on your pc can be used for the mp3 player and/or ringtone. The phone
comes complete with a USB lead to do all the above. There is also
an office pack included which I've only had a quick play with but
appears to be very handy. In my opinion the only downside to the
phone is that there is no proper auto keyguard, the only one on the
phone is one that takes a minimum of one minute to engage & then
requires a five digit code to unlock. This is ok but you really
need one that comes on asap so you can put the phone in your pocket
without worrying about it. You can lock it manually but this lock
is de-activated if the camera cover is opened which happens very
easily. You can download programs for an autolock but as yet none
work on the N70. It seems odd why Nokia would leave this feature
out as it's standard even on the most basic models. Overall 4 out
of five and only because of the lack of auto- keyguard.

I got this phone a few days ago, after 6 months of desire. what
utter SHEER bliss this phone is! To answer the person with the keypad
backlight problem - Dear, there is a light sensor just to the right
of the "N70" logo at the top right hand side of the phone. this
enables the phone to decide if it is bright enough to negate the
need for the keypad backlight, and also corrects the balance and
brightness of the screen accordingly. Try putting your finger over
the sensor and using the pad, it works then. I am amazed by the
clarity of the MP3s that I've loaded onto it, the camera works like
a charm, and there are just SO many features that you just discover
while mucking about with it. I found the voice activated dialling
amusing, as it reads the contact in question's name out in a voice
like Ned Gerblansky from South Park - making it swear made me cry
with laughter for over half an hour; and I'm nearly 27 years old!
puerile, MOI?? lol. menu IS a bit slow when compared to other phones

This is a note for 'rampant rabbiter'. You can not compare the functionality
of a W800i to the N70 as they are 2 diffrent phones. If anyone remembers
the on going saga of the 6630 on o2 then we all should know that
when it comes to o2 & Symbian OS the o2 cock it up everytime & thats
why we at the shop where i work are refuseing to sell any symbain
OS based phone on the o2 network. The reason why the keypad lights
keep turning off is a power saveing function which is annoying yes
but it has a purpose. If you are in a dark room then you should
notice that the back light comes on, now if you go into a light
room or switch the light on then the keypad back light should turn
off after about 5 seconds & you should notice that the screens back
light dim a little. Its been the same scince the 7250 & now Motorola
are also doing it aswell. If you look at the top left of the N70
you will notice a sensor which determines a light in the room &
how much light you need on the phone. & finaly, all Symbian OS i
have known are not the quickest OS in the world but then it does
have all the functions that you need in a SmartPhone & not a candy
bar. My oppion is, if you want a phone that is quick & basic then
go for a W800i, 6230i or a V3i, but if you want all the bells &
whistles on it then go for the N series phones.

To Jimmy from England - are you serious mate? the camera is rubbish
and so is the video!!!! it is a 2 megapixel camera that it uses!!
you can't get any better than that on the market right now until
Nokia release their 3 megapixel phone the N80! It sounds to me like
you just have sour grapes with Nokia to be honest. I've had this
phone now for a month or two and it Rocks big time. I wrote a review
back then and I was right about one thing, the front facia really
does take a doing, even in a Nokia carry case it still manages to
get scratched, but this is the only down point to an otherwise multimedia
dream. The images and videos this thing can produce rivals anything
out there. It is so easy to use and is very practical. I've gheard
a lot of people complaining about the slide but to be honest I've
had no problems at all with it, and I'd much rather have the camera
behind the slide as bare cameras tend to get their lens' scratched
otherwise. If you want a classy looking phone this is the one for
you, the electric blue backlight to the keys give it a nice touch
also, very high tech looking. I have mine on T-mobile and was a
bit disappointed to learn that on this tariff you cant get the sky
tv package you can with Vodafone, my friend has this phone with
the sky package and it rocks like you wouldn't believe. If you're
looking for a girly phone go buy a pink razr, if you want something
that will play music til your hearts content then go buy an MP3

This phone arrived today from o2 after waiting nearly two weeks
for it to come into stock. And what exactly have I been waiting
for? A phone that's slow, takes ages to boot up and doesn't even
work properly. The keypad lights come on when you first switch the
phone on, then they go off never to be seen again until you switch
it off and back on again. So yeAh, it might be snazzy to look at,
do everything except make the tea, but it's the basics that really
matter. So I'm afraid mine's off back to o2 tomorrow, good riddance,
and it's back to my faithful SE W800i. In my opinion, SE make the
best phones simply because they get the balance right. They don't
overload a phone with features at the sacrifice of functionality.
And I've owned a K700i, an S700i, a K750i and now I have the W800i.
They're the best; the cameras are the best, and they never let you
down. I'll be waiting for o2 to get the W900i or W810i. Anyone thinking
of getting this phone should seriously consider what they think
is most important in a phone. The N70 is a glorified piece of plastic.

great, with a nice 20x zoom, the phone itself is a bit sluggish,
but when you consider whats going on underneath, its ok, the phone
has only crashed once, and that was because i had to much stuff
on the phones memory,(dump everything on a memory card) The voice
commands are good, work first time, allowing you to access applications,

I think this is probably the best phone I've encountered in a long
time. I used to eke out a living reselling phones on eBay so there
isn't much I haven't used at some point or other. Samsung D500,
Motorola V3, Nokia 6230i, Sony W800i... pretty much all of them.
And the N70 stands head and shoulders above the lot. The camera
is very impressive indeed. Whilst it's not up to the standard of
a true camera, it is better than the Sony one on the K750i. My mum
has one of these and I've put the two side-by-side - the Nokia is
the better camera, despite not having this 'autofocus' widget. It
looks its 2 megapixels and the Sony doesn't. Call clarity is very
impressive too. When I got my N70 and started calling people with
it, apparently they could all hear me a lot clearer than before
and the same was true of landlines as well. This is probably the
most important feature. It's a phone that does calling well! I remember
in particular the V3 being absolutely terrible for sound quality
and the N70 makes it a thankfully distant memory. Also, I haven't
had the slightest problem with bluetooth at all. I picked up a Bluetrek
G2 headset and it autoconnects faultlessly every time and the call
quality's great. No dropping, no crashes, no nothing. The software's
been pretty flawless too. The Nokia PC Suite version with the N70
is the easiest PC hookup package I've ever used. It's just so simple
- connect the phoone to the PC via the USB cable they give you in
the box and you're away! The software does music and picture transfers,
application installations, even crops my pictures on the computer
into phone wallpapers so I don't have to pay for the dubious ones
on websites. And the phone hasn't crashed once either, meaning its
software all works fine as well. I love the fact that once you get
used to the menu button being at the bottom corner, it's just so
easy to find your way around. Having come from a string of different
maker's operating systems, Nokia still have it sussed. This just
works, and you can set the joypad to shortcut to your most commonly-used
items to make it even easier. MP3 playback is a lot, lot better
than I was expecting. The Samsung D500 and D600 were OK but lacked
bass. The N70 gets very close to a real MP3 player - I wouldn't
endorse using it on long train journeys, but it's great for wandering
to the shops and back. I've got a 256mb memory card and 40 high-rate
tracks, and that'll do me quite nicely thank you... The various
applications are great. The PDF file viewer has already proved worth
its weight in gold, as I've saved bus and train timetables directly
onto the phone so I always know when I can get home. Being able
to view Word documents has been pretty handy too, as I can proofread
essays whilst waiting in queues and the like. Content download moves
pretty quickly and the mobile TV bit is a great toy; how cool is
it to be able to turn round to your friends and say 'sorry, I wasn't
listening - I was watching Sky One on my phone'? So to round things
off, this is a fantastic phone. The features are all excellent,
the build quality is solid and it's also absolutely superb at just
making calls. I hope this review has been more helpful than the
'buy dis fone!!!' that's usually found scrawled across the site,
but for once I would agree - if given the option, get yourself an
N70! It really is that good.

I've had this phone for a few weeks now, and I am very happy with
it. The reason for only 4 stars is that, as has already been stated
previously, the aluminium front does scratch very easily (I am VERY
careful with mine, and I still managed to scratch the aluminum putting
it in my pocket). The other reason is that the sliding camera protector
is wobbly after only 2 weeks of use. I dread to think what it will
be like in a few months. In conclusion, an excellent phone, but
i would not buy sim free (as it is much too expensive for what you

Well after some months of looking into what phone I want to get
with my upgrade the N70 seemed to be a good choice, I do spend many
hours researching every year for the best phone I can get which
comes with all the goodies, which to be honest I never use , but
that’s not the point I want one of the best phones which can
do the most and the Nokia N70 seemed to have lots of things to play
with. I am comparing this to my old Nokia 7610, if anyone has had
a Nokia 7610 then basically there is hardly any difference apart
from the N70 has a better camera, it has 3g and has a few other
little extras like a radio ect . The downfall is that the Nokia
N70 has smaller buttons the slid at the back opens easy which can
be annoying and something which is very silly to mention (but im
going to anyway) it doesn’t have the pink theme which the
Nokia 7610 had and no girly theme which replaced it.I also found
the Nokia N70 a bit slower and within 24 hours it froze up on me
which I heard is a common problem with the N70 at the moment. I
have to admit I was hoping for a more of a “wow” factor
and was pretty disappointed that it wasn’t that much different
from the 7610. For those who have never owned a 7610 or like it
then this phone has pretty much everything you could ask for, it
is a big phone but it makes it easier to find in the bottom of your
handbag and the camera is VERY good. But with a few small problems
I have had within the first 24 hours I did look into taking it back.
I have had two nokia 7610’s in the last year both went funny
on me with different problems which makes me worried this N70 wont
last. If you are looking for a phone which has everything and you
don’t mind about the size then this is a good phone to consider.
I had a pretty hard time trying to get hold of this phone with 02
so it must be a popular choice with others. But I will admit the
day I was due to pick up the Nokia N70 my dependable sony ericsson
t610 fell on the floor and broke , the same night I brought a second
hand one from eBay just in case this Nokia N70 fails me I have something
which I can depend on .They are bringing out a new Nokia 3G phone
with a slid keyboard (but not a smart phone), personally I wish
I had waited till that was available.

Very user friendly with easy to use functions. The camera is utterly
stunning, especially when used in video mode. I noticed it most
when I bluetoothed an MP4 to my PC. Compared to the movies on the
6630 it is leaps and bounds ahead of the game. If there is a down
side to the phone I guess it would be the lazyness of Nokia to introduce
accesories for their new phones, prior to release. The facia of
this phone really looks the part in brushed chrome, but it also
looks like it could take a doing, so make sure you have a suitable

As someone stated below:- Other major gripes: No message counter,
low volume handsfree, quite uncomfortable to write texts, memory
is still insufficient. Oh yeah and the battery life, quite frankly
, is pathetic. I have the nokia n70 and there is a message counter.
Your handsfree must be faulty because mine is sometimes too loud,
maby it is your profile settings or you Enhancment settings. The
keys on the keypad feel nice to press but i do have to agree that
they are small, something easily to get used to and personal choice,
i love the keys myself!. Memory on mine is excellent, got supplied
a 64mb rs-mmc card with it and that holds hundreds of pictures and
videos easily. The phone memory is also not bad, and it can hold
quiet a few 2 megapixel pictures aswell. Also you said that the
battery life was "pathetic". I disagree, i havent charged my phone
for atleast 2 days now, i have talked to people on there, txted
people 24/7, browsed the internet, and listening to mp3's on the
main speaker and it is still showing full bars. Are you sure you
have a proper nokia battery and did you charge it up fuly before
using it. In my opinion this is the best phone out and will be for
a very long time. The video and pictures taken with the built in
camera are superb giving crystal clear quality. The videos taken
can be played back full screen on a television without being pixelised,
thats how good the quality is. However for self portraits using
the front camera located above the screen is the same quality as
most vga cameras such as the one on the nokia 6600, But when taking
pictures with the VGA camera (the one above the screen) in low light
conditions, the quality decreases. Hence thats why there is flash
on the 2mp camera. Loud ringtones and there is no sound muffling
and everything is clear.Dedicated app key on the keypad, useful
for a favourite shortcut.Excellent using with a computer. When connected
to a pc via bluetooth, infrared, usb ect. You are able to send messages
from the pc by text message and MMS ect. Some people say that the
front of the phone scratches easily. I have put this phone in my
jeans pocket, left it on hard surfaces. It has been everywhere and
the front is still looking perfect!. The screen brightness can also
change with the amount of light in the surrounding environment.
Very useful. Also the ability to select a profile called "offile"
allows you to keep your phone on inside hospitals ect. The offile
mode stops the signal coming in and out. Also when writing messages
or notes ect. There is a copy and paste feature. Very handy indeed,
especially if you like to put loads of kisses at the end of your
messages. If you dont mind the size of the phone (it really isnt
that big when its in your hand, fits perfect in mine) i would recommend
this phone to anybody of all ages. You might think that the price
is high for the nokia n70. But when you use it you begin to realise
why, its so fantastic and browses the internet with its HTML browser
at broadband speed. Excellent phone for everyone. Best phone out,
and will remain the best phone out for a long time.

Don't get me wrong...this is a great phone... but let me get my
gripe over with first... the aluminium front gets scratched so easily
it looks more scratched than the plastic screen!! Nokia should have
used a harder alloy! Anyway..coming from the terrible bug ridden
Siemens S65 the N70 is a God-send... the response of the phone is
ok-fast,the screen is crispy clear (at last) and the video function
is just fantastic...(although the recording view is juddery the
actual recorded MP4 is so smooth)...and since its MP4 its so convenient
to transfer to the computer... also you get the USB cable thrown
in (an optional paid extra with the S65) which should be madatory
anyway... the phone reception is good, with nice and clear voice
tones. The supplied software is of ok-quality and you can do lots
of things with it like simple video editing and music conversion
from midi files to use as ringtones... another nice feature is the
RS-MMC card... which is...thankfully HOT-swappable and can use cards
up to 1GB! There are some features that can be improved... like
the addition of a 'headphones' profile (like the old Nokia's) but
the pros outweigh the cons... some people would not like the size
(its not a slim phone) and the buttons are a tad fiddley... but
nonetheless... still a great phone... recommended for people who
likes to take snap-shots and lots of videos!!! And for my version
(HK) there is even a Chinese-English dictionary thrown in!!Two BiG

this new N70 seems a bit dumb. If you press off the screen by accident
when writing a text message and go back to new message, it's not

I would love to give this phone 5stars, but simply can't. Had the
n70 for 3 weeks now and looks and sounds extremely tatty. Without
an appropriate case (camp), the front aluminium scrathes way too
easily. And the sliding cover at the back is way too delicate and
creaky for a £500+ handset. Don't even think about putting this
phone in your jeans pocket. Does anybody else's look really shoddy
now? Or have I just unknowingly really mistreated it? Why do these
things happen when the 14 day trial expires?? Other major gripes:
No message counter, low volume handsfree, quite uncomfortable to
write texts, memory is still insufficient. Oh yeah and the battery

too slow to the point where it is too similar to a PC for its own
good! Tbh, I can't see this handset lasting the duration of my 18

Quite easily the best phone i've ever owned. I first moved in the
world of smartphones with the 7650 and that was great for it's day.
Ever since then I've not been totally satified with a phone like
I have with this. It's fast, easy to use, has bags of memory and
the 2M pixel camera is amazing.

Excellent phone -sound good - Email good - calendar good - but I
am a Mac user and it is not yet possible to download calendar and
phone number etc - Nokia customer services were very unhelpful -
they offered no solution what so ever - Macs iSync 2.1 doesn't work
either.... I hope iSync upgrade eventually will allow download to
my Mac.

I thought the days of me buying another Nokia were over after getting
an orange 3330 (The one that said you could download Games & stuff,
& you couldn't). Anyway after that mess up I Vowed never to get
another Nokia but when I saw my choises this month, SE K600i (Non-Expandible)
Or the W800i thats on back order until Christmas & beyond, I had
to choose the Nokia N70 & I'm very pleased I did. Now all we have
to do is get software & start creating. Well I will anyway.

You may remeber me from such reviews as the Motorola E1000 & the
Nokia 6680, now i am back to shout praise to Nokia! When i thought
they could not do any better than the 6680 they go 4 even 5 times
beter with the N70. The things that i disliked with the 6680 (ie
10mb internal memory...erm....thats it!) has been updated with a
30mb! The screen looks better, the sound is better, the radio is
top notch & its still easy to use! Im not to sure about the light
blue keypad back light but i can live with it! There is not enought
stars in the world that can do this super phone justice! Just a
few things i would like to clear up though, you can not compear
the ease of certain features of the N70 & the 6230/6230i as they
use different OS, i did find it ahrd when i made the swtich from
conventional nokia OS on 6230 to Symbian, im sure you will get the
hang of it. Vodafone Live & Vodafone software full stop has the
same problem as o2 Active & o2 software, to many issues & conflictions
(we remeber the 6630 on o2?...dont we??) so i surgest that you switch
to a network that will not give as much of its own software & bog
the speed down like 3. Yes they have their issues but i have had
no, YES NO, problems with them as i got into my 3rd year with them.
The hadset speed is like the 6680 that i had on 3. & yes i do miss
the navi-pad in the middle of the 6680 but i am slowly getting use
ti the N70s navi-pad. All in all, top phone & glad to own one!

Overall a good phone. Everything a phone should have, and then some
- great quality camera/video, good music player, expandable memory,
BT, office functions, HTML support etc. BUT all this is marred by
the fact the phone operates like an old 486. It is so slow between
key presses, and usually by the time I have the camera set up, the
subject has gone! It also hangs once in a while, and I get the occasional
dropped call. Also, lots of confirmations when trying to do something,
(how many times do I have to say I want to send a text!) and some
of the vodafone Live content doesn't work. Ordinarily, this phone
would be brill. But its dallying and seizing up means I am serious
contemplating returning it.

Fantastic phone, really easy to use damn good looking and packed
to the brim with features. One minor gripe is that the keypad is
frikkin miniscule, i have pretty normal sized hands but i have to
be using the side of my fingers to hit the buttons. But its i minor
gripe for an all round stunning phone.

Everybody seems to be in agreement that this is one of the best
phones on the market, I just wish to point out a few of the negatives.
There is no wallet feature. The charger has changed, so now the
standard Nokia charger no longer works. Why can the birthday feature
in contacts not be linked to the calender? The "go to" menu is not
as easy to adjust as the 6230. Still a great phone, but these little
problems can let it down.

the n70 is great phone the screen is very bright I recently got
it for $640 and I still I have the nokia 6680 both are almost the
same. also I used to have the nokia 6630. I would say to the people
who wants to up-grade their phone from nokia 6680 or nokia 6630
not to do so. as all are very similar except for the digital cam
2.0 mg and the radio in the n70. also another thing I am an apple
computer user unfortunate the n70 dose not Sync with the address
book and contacts. but the nokia 6680 and nokia 6630 dose. and I
am thinking to return n70 for this reason. but I still gives it
10 stars************

This is the best multimedia phone on the market. I found it performed
well under all extreme test conditions - one which was spilling
a pint of beer on it. The camera is excellent although it is too
easy to use up all the memory on clips and shots that you want to
keep. Best deals from T-Mobile who are advertsing it now with Web'n'walk

Nokia N70 is in the same familie as the 6680 serie. It hasn't got
any big difference than this -35 MB internal memory (6680 had 10
MB) -2.0 Mega Pixel Camera (6680 1.3 Mega Pixel Camera) -FM Radio
(6680 had not FM radio) Further more, the sound quality is better
than the 6680. And one more thing they shouldn't have changed was
the joystick of 6680 it was very good. They changed the model this
one looks not so good as the previous version. But you can't see
any big difference that the 6680 model so it is wisefull not to
buy another smartphone if you have already 6680. Aurous
