3110 Classic Review
Phone
rating:
In a nutshell: This is a great entry-level phone from Nokia.
A classic user-friendly design, built to last and with excellent
battery life, it will get on with the job without any trouble. It
includes a camera, MP3 player and FM radio and has the benefits
of an expandable memory card, Bluetooth connectivity and triband.
The 3110 offers exceptional value for money.
Best buy: £49.95 on Pay as you Go from Dialaphone.
It often seems to us here at Mobile Phones UK that
Nokia are at their best when they don't try too hard. The 3110 isn't
trying too hard to be anything other than a phone. Yes, it comes
equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera, an MP3 player and an FM radio,
but many people consider these to be essential these days don't
they? Who wants to carry three gadgets around when one will do the
job? And that's what the 3110 does: it does the job that it was
given and doesn't pretend that it's an all-singing all-dancing fashion
accessory. Nokia seem to have realised this themselves. Instead
of regarding the classic "candy-bar" style as boring and
trying to follow other manufacturers' clamshell and slide designs,
they've realised that the classic shape is what they do best, and
have decided to make the most of it by branding their latest phones
"Classic". We like Classic! 2007 was a renaissance year
for Nokia, and 2008 looks like it's going to be a good follow-up.
Anyway, enough rambling, back to the 3110. This
is a smart, well-designed phone that's a good size and is very easy
to use. As we said earlier, it just gets on with the job. This isn't
a slimline phone - it's a tough-looking phone that's built to last
and has a battery to match. The 5-way navigation key and conventional
keypad are a pleasure to use, compared with the yucky offerings
that Sony Ericsson is putting out these days.
The camera isn't great: no flash, no autofocus.
It's just for snaps, but in daylight it will get some reasonable
shots. The MP3 player and FM radio are fine though. It isn't an
iPod, but it plays music and you can store up to 500 tracks if you
buy a memory card
for it. You can use MP3 tracks as ringtones, and also customise
the phone with wallpapers and themes. Connectivity is excellent,
with Bluetooth, USB and Infrared all available. It's triband too,
so you can take it to the States.
It's a phone that's hard to fault. Don't buy it
if you want the latest technology, or want to pose in the pub, but
if you're looking for a workhorse phone that's superb value for
money, look no further.

By its look, u may confound it with n73 or a black 6233, but this
phone is almost as complete as these. Nothing lacks. Almost. The
only complaint that I can make against Nokia for this phone is the
poor screen resolution, which is a bit outdated. Otherwise, this
phone is complete. Till now I've managed to store 2000 sms messages.
That is i didn't delete my sms since i bought the phone. Sound quality
thru the speaker is awesome. Nice crystal sound. For that price,
that phone is a must.

This is an excellent phone having almost all features at a reasonable
price. Sound quality is very clear but the camera, being 1.3 MP
is disappointing. The pack, unfortunately, contains no PC Suite
CD, Data cable, SD card etc, which is surprising for a Nokia product.

will like in this phone is --It's good look. --Awesome keypad for
easy typing. --For connectivity it has bluetooth, infrared and usb.
--sound quality is too good. --color display is good too. Something
you will dislike is.. --low memory, only 10MB, but then you can

I agree entirely with the reviewer. This is a terrific phone - beautifully
made and much more impressive in the flesh than in the photos. It
is very solid (cast aluminium) with rubberised panels that makes
it easy to grip. The keys have a positive feel, and everything just
works. I nearly overlooked this, and was all set to buy a Sony K550
or Samsung E250, both of which look nice in the pics, but feel flimsy
and a bit cheap beside the Nokia, which is also the perfect size
and weight. I got mine on Orange, and I expect it to last as long
as my previous Sony CD5e, which I bought in 2000... Thanks MPUK
for your review - it certainly helped me decide, and I could well
have missed it otherwise. My only tiny gripe about the Nokia is
that it doesn't include a stereo headphone adaptor, but that's not
enough to reduce the rating. [Editor's reply: Thanks for your review,
Francis, and glad we could help! I'm afraid that we had to censor
your review (deleted reference to shop where bought) as we have

I picked one of these up today in the cool blue version. The handset
is comfortable to hold, substantial without being heavy. The keypad
is comfortable. I'm not too happy with the 4-way navigation key
(I actually prefer the Sony joystick button). The overall feel of
the phone is quality. I had some trouble opening up the back of
the case in order to insert the battery. Nokia have gone back to
the old 3XXX series with the clip-on covers. I got it off in the
end, but it was not as easy as it should be. The screen is excellent.
I took a few photos which looked great on the phones screen. Let's
see how they'll look on the computer when transferred. The menu
is easy to use. No surpise there it being a Nokia. The charger is
rather flimsy. The lead is very thin and the tip is a smaller mini
version compared to previous models which looks like it could easily
break if, say, your phone slipped off the table when charging. I
mention this because a replacement charger would probably cost about
half the price of the phone. Similarly, the headphones supplied
look very flimsy. I was debating between this Nokia 3110 and the
Sony W200i as a backup phone. In the end I opted for the Nokia because
of it's more classic look. The Sony beats the Nokia hands down in
teh music department, but overall as a basic phone, the Nokia 3110
is a winner, but not perfect.

The phone is pretty good. The only feature I don't like is that
you can't create your own music playlist easily... You can create
playlist only from the same artist or album. camera is ok... especially
the pictures made in daylight. pictures made in the night are not
so good. I had only a couple of times restarting problems with the
phone (during the actualization of music library). Otherwise the
phone worked fine. Battery life is decent.
