Motorola V360 Review

Phone rating:

The Motorola V360 is an excellent mid-range camera phone, and one of Motorola's best offerings. Although the camera is only VGA resolution, that's as much as you can expect for this price, and it does have a video recording and playback capability too.

The MP3 player is very good, and with the 64 Mbyte TransFlash™ memory card provided, you can store 15 or more audio tracks. Alternatively, this is plenty of memory for storing pictures and videos, and the high quality display is perfect for viewing images. The main display has 262,000 colours and a high resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. This is one of the best displays in its class - only the Panasonic VS6 or Sharp GX25 can beat it. The external display is greyscale and shows a clock together with network & caller information.

The V360 comes with Bluetooth wireless connectivity as well as USB, so transferring MP3s, games and pictures is easy. Other nice features include an integrated handsfree speakerphone, picture caller ID (so you can see who's calling you) and fast internet access via EDGE.

The V360 is a great phone and excellent value for money.

Features of the Motorola V360 include:

  • Integrated VGA camera (640 x 480 pixels) with 4x digital zoom and light
  • Video camera (MPEG4 format)
  • MP3 player
  • Internal display: TFT, 262k colours, 176 x 220 pixels
  • External display: 96 x 80 pixels, greyscale
  • Handsfree speaker phone
  • Picture caller ID
  • Push-to-Talk
  • Messaging: EMS 5.0, MMS
  • iTap™ predictive text
  • 24-voice polyphonic ringtones
  • Downloadable Java™ games
  • Picture phonebook
  • Memory: 5 Mbytes plus TransFlash™ memory card
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth®, USB
  • WAP 2.0, GPRS class 10, EDGE
  • Triband
  • Size: 90 x 47 x 24 mm
  • Weight: 104g
  • Talktime: 220 - 450 minutes
  • Battery standby: up to 240 hours

After reading all your comments I decided to buy this phone but kow I regreat it. First of all I couldn't switch it on so I come back to the shop and I still asked for onother v360v. I bought a 512mb memory card. The first day every thing was fine but now 2 out of 3 times I try to open the music files it says that the files are currupted. I need to switch off the phone again and see if the next time I'll be luky. I tried the memory card in my pc and it works perfectelly so the problems seems to be the phone. I am very disapointed because I bought this phone because of its mp3. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Any idea or suggestion? I am about to damp it in the bin!

I just bought the phone. Love it. For the price that I am paying, I happy with the functionality that comes with it. It doesn't have all the latest bells & whistles but enough to make me happy. My advice is to look at the functionality that the phone offers in relative to its price. If you want more than it offers, fork out the extra cash and get the latest phone available.

For someone looking for a bluetooth compatible flip phone this is an excellent buy. I get reception where my old 'sony ericsson t630' would not. The sound clarity and dialing speed is also good. Howveer I agree with one chap here who found that the mp3 playing element is pretty dire. I only get mono sound at low quality, even with highquality headphones through a minijack - so dont think of buying one as a replacement for your Ipod. Decent screen, and camera. and a very good phone!!

The Phisical aperance is super coz its silver the in colour even better 2 tone its very compact and light. The Price is outstanding for a phone with those cool features and the ultra cool aperance guess the price 99 AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont listen to the horrible reviews coz i have had no trouble at all with this phone if you like the Motorola Razors features but don't have enough money this is the phone to get plus i think its better than the Motorola Razor becoz its way cheaper an d cooler although i would like to know how to use da Mp3 player but hey iv got my ipod.

Great phone so far. Has many features found in a lot of higher priced phones. Great sound quality, display, physical appearance. Even has little rubber stoppers to cushion the clam when closing. I would've liked some stereo headphones included - very hard to find in New Zealand (had to get em from america). An external colour display would've been good too. But all in all an excellent phone.

The mp3 player is in file-sounds for all of you who couldnt find it (and btw that was in the manual as well!) and the external display can be set to clock face by settings, personalise, home screen and changin clock to analogue.overall the phone is great it lost its half point from me only because the video capture is a short length of time and you cant get it in pink;) lol but its still a brill we phone

Well, I think it's pretty good. You can't really expect Bluetooth or Infared for the price, now can you? If you want infared get a more expensive phone. That said, my old phone (MOTO V360) had infared, and I could never get it to work anyway. My two (and only) problems are the battery life, which is NOT good, and the amount of heat it kicks out, especially during calls. I have not tried uploading Java games onto the phone with the USB cable yet, but if I got it to work on my old phone in the same way, I'm sure I can on this one! And I have to tell those who have said the phone only comes with 2mb of memory - it doesn't, it comes with 16mb (well, 17 and a bit mb's, actually). All told, I'm pleased with the phone - it looks the biz! IT WAS $99!!

When u are finding for a clamshell phone with better performence to a better price u should choos this phone. The biggest advantage is external memory. it can upgrade to 512MB. MP3 player work excellent. Screen is sharp enough and bright. Main disadvatage is absent of FM tuner. Another thing to say there is no voice recorder( but can add voice to MMS). The doual mode of the phone, while conected to a computer helps to store files as a normal flash drive.(but little slow). camera quality is average. But night mode is excellent than othere sonyericssion k700, nokia 6600 and other phones at this price range. Another thing to say the phone is charging via USB. Buy this phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive read the reviews the other users have posted, I looked at the good and the bad points and found that the good outwayed the bad so I bought one... This has to be the best £75 ive spent, I needed a phone for work my v500 died and I wanted another flip phone, Ive had no problems with this phone in any way, the only thing i had trouble with was finding anywhere in the instructions about the mp3 player, I even wrang vodafone and they said its not got one, even though its printed on the box they still denied it had one, I eventually wrang motorola direct and they helped me in 10 mins to get it goin and its great, I love it, for £75 its worth every penny. As for the analog clock problem ppl have been having the internal clock needs to be analog not digital, then the external one will be analog...

I had the mp3 player and it was hard to use, have you tried simply draging the file and putting it on the mp3 player. If you have installed the driver download the new Media Player and synchronise the mp3 files. Hope this helps, tell me if it does. Only one problem I need to find out how to transfer games from PC to phone... I have the games I just don't know how... if someone helps me I will send them some games. Thanks! By the way great phone :D

Can anyone set the clock on the external screen to the one with arrows as on all the photos in the net? (Because either Im blind or this phone doesnt have it!)When sending a text it doesnt show you how many characters are left for one message, so you have to count yourself. When i got it home it worked like a charm. It regestred in about 5 minuites automaticly. Absolutly love the phone. It is a real reccommended buy. However it is a little un user friendly compared to Samsung. Also the Vodaphone custumer survices are pretty pants. I have had a upgrade from the V220 and well all I can say is vodaphone has made a massive improvement. It can easily beat Sony Err... But I would prefer a Samsung D series but still im more then happy with this phone. The only problem is im a show off and silver phones look the best right? And this one only comes in black! There were absolutely no scratches or anything. everyone in my family absolutely loves this phone and uses more often than i do...and they each have their own phones...

I purchased a new V360 (Along with 2 V3s) from T-Mobile. My V360 started to lock up after a few days, and after about a month, it shutdown, never to turn on again. Luckily all of my contacts were saved to my SIM card. T-Mobile shipped out a "new" (Damaged, scratched and chipped) V360, as per the warranty. What can I say? How about HORRID! The phone (Using different batteries) NOW DECIDES to randomly shut down, not turn back on, then turn on at it's own whim. T-Mobile again decides to ship a 3rd V360. I have not recieved it as of yet. However, I can state that: The V360 is a good phone for it's use. Decent camera, decent video capture, good sound quality. Not fairly wowed by anything, but it's a good solid phone, once it works correctly. I would advise serious thought before you just jump into the V360. It will save you ALOT of headaches.

Got the V360 on a free upgrade from Voda. Decided on the phone after looking at various phones. Went for a Non 3G phone as I didn't want it and did want problems with battery life. What can I say about the V360 ......... IT'S A GREAT PHONE. I don't understand why people are having problems with MP3 playing, stereo sound etc etc ....... I haven't !! I bought a 512 MB card for £20 and a USB card reader for £4. Dropped and dragged files from PC onto card, put the card into the phone and hey presto ....... music. As for the stereo sound issues, I can say that if you buy a set of the correct 2.5MM jack phones, Motorola HS120, you get very good quality sound from the phones MP3 player. It's brill. The pwhole phone is up to the usual Motorola standard, good reception, feels light but is actually well built. Only downside is there are no full games but that's a Vodafone issue not Motorola fault. It's not a super dooper video, Hifi, Sat Nav, PDA device .......... it's a PHONE with MP3 playing capabilities. Get one, get a larger memory card, get a case and the HS120 headphones, and you will be very happy. SW

Consistently also the video playback requires approx 45 - 60 secs to finish after you press 'stop'.Motorola have provided too many options for a data transfer confusing the issue. I have tried all by the book and still the same poor results wherever video playback is concerned. I know I might be doing something wrong but can't think of what? Pros: Great phone once you get used to the Motorola menu system. Cameras good for my needs, and it's a great looking phone for the money. Battery life seems good. Great large colour display. Cons: Don't like the way you exit a menu and it takes you back a few steps instead of to the previous menu - but hey that's a Motorola thing in many of their phones. My V360 has a few sw bugs. You can create a contacts group but can't see it to send to in SMS text messaging, only in Multimedia messages. Also strangley there are 5 quick dial numbers but you can't edit them once a numbers entered unlike other Motorolas. I don't need to use that feature but it's a bug anyhow. The built in ringtones are pretty rubbish and since the phone didn't come with a memory card I can't copy a MP3 one to it from the PC. Also the PC sync'ing tools are not free and don't come with the phone. Having said that the phone is still worth 4 stars.

This is an excellent phone because you get a lot of bang for your buck. It has a huge amount of features. Why it losers out on 1 star is the quality of the material used. The phone feels brittle and cheaply made, it has a "drop it and it will never work again" feel. Why Motorola used cheap plastic for this phone is anyone's guess, even my V550 feels more robust. Other than build quality, excellent phone for the wallet.

This is a fabulous phone. Packed with everything you could possibly want from MP3 ringtones to funny cartoons that dance on the screen when your mate rings (if that's your thing...it is defo mine!) Has a good camera with zoom and exposure adjustment, great reception, light, compact and good looking. The keys are not too fiddly and easy to work your way around. I made the change from a Nokia, which has to be said, has it's teething problems...when sending texts, the "delete" button on the nokia is in the same place as the "send" button on the V360, so I've sent hundreds of useless texts accidentally by inadvertently pressing send instead of delete (that's not a fault of the phone, though, it's me!) I love this phone, it is great. If I had to say something bad about it, I can't work out how to lock it. I think I have done it as per instruction manual, but it doesn't seem to work. It has crashed once, and locked itself once for no reason (how ironic is that?!) But both lock and crash were instantly remedied by using the factory set code in the instruction manual, so no dramas, and anyway, it could have been something I did and not the phone (I am blonde, after all!!) Oh, and if colours and identities are your thing (my last phone was pink and gold...) you can't change the casing on this phone or customise it, but that's a silly niggle. If you want a great phone, you can't go past this one, why would you? It's lovely.

I really love some of the past reviews... one person said they dropped it the first day he got it and it hasnt worked since so he hates it. Someone else was complaining that it didnt have superior MP3 playback quality as if it was a Bose system, and another person said that his friend has it and he hates it. How do you write a review on a product you dont own? On the other hand, some of the other negative reviews/complaints are legit (so they appear). If theres a problem, send it back. Mine has no problems. I love this phone and its features. Also very affordable. I couldnt be happier with it. The bluetooth on it is absolutely fantastic. I have it set to automatically sync with my computer when in range. When you set both the phone and computer to trust each other, and the proper settings on Motorola PhoneTools ($30), anytime your phone comes near your computer, the phonebook and datebook are sync'd with MS Outlook without even prompting you. Very powerful phone, highly reccommended.

Decent as a phone, hopeless as an MP3 player. Avoid if music is as important as calling. I bought the V360 as a replacement for my aging Nokia 3300, after trying and returning a Nokia 6620. The only alternative left may be a ROKR, but it's targeted at people half my age, and I'm leery of iTunes and DRM, and after the V360 experience I doubt Motorola know what they're doing. As a phone it's fine, good voice quality, triband, decent camera, bluetooth, a bright clear screen. Seems sturdy and reception is excellent; I work in a concrete box and it never drops calls. The problem is the MP3 player, in functionality, quality, and equipment. It was clearly designed by a team with no understanding whatsoever of music players, likely to avoid stealing sales from the ROKR. Where the V360 falls down is every place the 3300 shone: - V360: No earphones, so add $40 to buy a set which are all midrange. 3300: shipped with decent full-range stereo phones. - V360: No transflash card, so add $70 to buy a 256M, which is all I could get, transflash being the newest format. 3300: shipped with 64M MMC, easily upgraded as 1G MMCs are readily available. - V360: no USB cable, and though it has a standard port, no file access from Windows or Linux, due to lack of drivers. 3300: shipped with USB cable, appears as standard USB drive under Windows & Linux. - V360: No equalizer, no balance, not even bass/treble, so tinny midrange sound. 3300: 5-band user-defined EQ with presets and balance. - V360: had to map the left-side soft button to music player app. 3300: dedicated music button brings up music menu. - V360: no volume control when closed (using standard player; Java player works, but is clunky and slow) 3300: dedicated volume control buttons. - V360: max music volume barely adequate. 3300: max music volume quite excessive, but still distortion-free. - V360: no internal FM radio (eternal option). 3300: FM radio with auto-scan, presets, you can name stations, etc. - V360: both player programs force you to create and namea playlist, sorting songs from ringtones, before playing. 3300: just plays whatever MP3s you've put in the Music/ dir on it; playlists are optional, though you have to use a text editor or Nokia's software to make them. V360: no way to skip songs while playing closed; button on headphones tries to send the file to someone, which a message chides you that you're not allowed to do. 3300: headphone button skips to next song. V360: playing music in the background rearranges home screen keys; Pressing "hang up" kills player. 3300: home screen works normally; press and hold "hang up" for 2 seconds to kill player. V360: number keys 1-7 set volume... 3300: number keys jump directly to tracks. I must admit I'm truly disapointed by this phone, the more so since the lack of available accessories meant I couldn't test it until after my provider's buyers' remorse period had passed.

This thing offers everything that phones much more expensive can, including video, photos and mp3 playback. To respond to some of the criticism in other posts I'd merely say; my reception is great, it's best not to drop any phone and it IS fully customisable - as the man says, read the manual. I've got mine just how I want it now - with my own mp3 ringtone and photo caller id. I'm not going to tell you to buy it but you can do much, much worse.

The predictive text is really good,it has every word (even text speak) because it does it letter by letter(its hard to explain). There is loads of good ringtones (unlike most phones!)I really reccomend this phone for anyone old or young. Some of these reviews talk about not being able to change the side buttons or about limited video time......Read the manual. This is possibly the best and easiest phone to personalise. All buttons can be altered to your choice and there is enough room on the phone - not even including the memory card - to have a different mp3 ringtone for a large address book. The memory card makes it soooo easy to get pictures/ringtones etc. It takes about 2 minutes to fill the card with mp3's and gives you a pretty good mp3 player that can hold about 15 tracks (not perfect CD quality but hey! it's a phone. If you want an mp3 player - go buy one) I would recommend this phone to anyone

Its not the best phone in the world, receptionwise, but its a good phone. when ever your indoors, the phone has either a one bar or no bar signal. When you are outdoors, the signal is almost perfect, unless its in your pocket. Anyways, the phone does have neat picture qualities (not on the phone itself but when it is transfered to the computer) and an overall good volume during calls, whether using the ear peice or speaker phone. The MP3 feature is an awesome feature. The ability to make any song a ringtone is an excellent addition (that way, you don't have to pay to browse the web and download songs directly to the phone). The removable miniSD stick makes transfering data a breeze, if you have an SD drive. If not, there is the bluetooth option and the USP cable(which is pretty dang slow). So basically, this is a really great phone. Despite the size, this phone is both cheaper and better than the RAZR.

I got this phone on vodafone handset only for 130 quid and its far better than some phones which you would normally pay more for, standby time is good as is talk time for average use rather than heavy use. Camera is ok (for those of you who want a 2.0+ mega pixel camera then buy a proper camera) it can do video clips between 6 to 10 seconds. screen is good with a nice resolution and volume wise is good as is the speaker. Memory isnt a problem with this phone as it uses memory cards it comes with a 64mb card so it can store plenty of mp3's/pitures/vid clips and is easy to expand up to a 512mb. There is plenty to customise on this phone to from various themes to pics and ringtones, uploading your pics, ringtones etc from phone to computer is easy enough to with a memory card reader which plugs into your usb port and its just a case of sending your pics to the computer or vice versa. Its light looks good (the vodafone one is black and silver whereas the normal one is 2 tone silver) and easy to use (the menu can be abit fiddly but in time can be gotten used to) and you can set up some shortcuts of your own so its quick to get to features that you use on a regular basis. All in all a good phone at a great price which will do all what you need and a little bit more.
