In a nutshell: The KF510 is a gorgeous, ultraslim fashion
phone. With a sleek touchscreen design, sparkly LED lights, a 2-tone
graded colour scheme and a metal body, it's one of the best looking
phones available. It's fully featured too, with a 3 megapixel camera,
MP3 player, FM radio, Bluetooth and memory card. However, the touch
sensitive screen isn't the best around, the battery life is poor,
and the phone seems to be prone to failure. Best buy: *Free*
with a free PS3 from mobiles.co.uk;
or £88.03 on PAYG from the Carphone
Warehouse (Red or Silver).
Review:
May 2008. Updated June 2009.
With
the LG KF510, LG have made a phone that just looks the business.
If you want to wow your mates in the pub, look no further. We were
expecting the beauty to be just skin-deep, but the more we played
with the KF510, the more it grew on us. Sure, we're shallow and
easily pleased, but hey!
Let's
do the looks first, since that's what this phone is really all about.
It's an ultra-slim slide phone with a sleek touchscreen design.
The colour scheme is gorgeous, with a two-tone graded finish in
either Sunset Red or Stardust Dark Grey. When you move your fingers
over the touch-sensitive surface of the phone, LED lights blink
on and off. It's quite hypnotic, or at least we thought so. Maybe
LG have hypnotised us into writing such nice comments! On the other
hand, it's clear from user feedback that not everyone likes the
touchscreen buttons, with many people finding them overly sensitive
and prone to misfire. Oh, nearly forgot to mention that it's quite
a heavy phone, despite being so thin, as its body is made of metal.
There's
more to the phone than just looks. The camera is quite respectable
for an entry-level phone, with a 3 megapixel resolution and autofocus.
Not up to David Bailey standards, but as good as anything else in
this price range. There's an MP3 player of course, plus the bonus
of an FM radio. You can customise ringtones, play games, send messages
and browse the web, just like any other modern phone. Bluetooth
and USB connectivity are both present, so all boxes seem to be ticked.
There are just two weak areas: the phone is triband, rather than
quadband, and the inbuilt memory is limited at just 16 Mbytes (enough
for a couple of ringtones and some photos.) However, you can expand
the memory to 4 Gbytes by adding a microSD memory card.
Despite
our initial expectations of this being a rather superficial kind
of phone, we found ourselves liking it very much. However, with
the benefit of hindsight, it's clear that this is not a phone that
is built to last. The metal body and scratch-proof tempered glass
screen should have made it a pretty robust phone despite its superslim
design. However, reading through the user comments below, it's obvious
that the LG KF510 isn't a robust phone, and many didn't even last
a year. Add to this the poor battery performance, and the phone
ultimately has proved to be a disappointment.
Features
of the LG KF510 include:
3 megapixel camera with autofocus
Video camera

The LG kf510 looks great but there are a few downsides to it. I
currently own one and there is a few things that could make it much
better. First the phone seems to 'restart' every time I go on to
the internet, People can't always contact me and after a while all
the messages and missed calls comes through which is not good at
all poor reception from the phone my other phone has full signal
then the LG only has half of that with the same service company,
the battery life sucks not even 10 hours and i'm not on the phone
all the time, after a month the charger fitting does'nt work anymore
so I struggle to charge it and the fitting is poorly positioned,
then for a new age phone MINIMIZE is accential!!!! when the battery
runs low you cant even send a sms or do anything with it, the speakers
quality is not good at all, then there is some good features like
the anti theft which work pretty well. but Its not a good phone

So I bought this phone when I moved to Europe based entirely on
it's looks and features. I do like the phone, it looks great, it's
fun and it's relatively easy to use. It connects to the BlueTooth
in my car well and for the most part the touch screen has been easy
to adapt to. I've only had the phone 5 months however, and have
had it repaired twice (the first time the screen died and the second
time it wouldn't slide closed anymore-- both covered under warrenty).
It also doesn't do things like save outgoing text messages, which

This one is made of metal, which I love. It's pretty strong and
because it's so thin, nobody notices that it is in my pocket. Lovely
lighting, very serious, modern and definitely it is so stylish when

Phone looks great but the touch pad is rubbish. The phone definitely
has a mind of its own. Upon sliding it up it makes phone calls becuase
it somehow picks up that i have selected the bottom left hand corner
of the touch pad. Extremely annoying. Rating:

If, like me, you are the kind of person that uses all the features
of your phone for about a week and then realise that you only really
ever wanted it to be a phone, then the LG 510 is for you! The phone
looks great and the menu system is superb. The camera is good enough
for most occasions, and feels more like a regular camera due to
you having to hold the phone horizontally to take pictures. The
on-phone slideshow feature is a welcome one as who ever really gets
round to downloading their photos? If you want a decent MP3 player
buy an iPod, but if you just want to listen to the odd track here
and there then this phone does a good enough job. For me the best
thing about the phone (apart from the menu system, which really
is VERY good) is the battery life. I have had this phone for about
a week now and have yet to recharge it. On the highest settings
ring tone, message alrts and call volume are all really loud and
there are a few included tones that really cut through background
noise. The only downside I would say is that the touch buttons are
a bit too sensitive. If they had just made them super-sleek buttons
it would have been better, I see no reason for touch sensitivity
in this case as it's not like you interact directly with the screen.
Anyway, once you have the menu open you can make selections with
the number pad so there is an alternative. Also the CD that comes
with it could be better, but that's just being picky. All in all,
if you like your phone to be a phone, but with the option of a few
gadgets if you want them and a long battery life then this phone
is perfect. Rating:

a problem, i'm addicted to the phone and use it alot! but i have
to admit i'm not really impressed by the camera :/ it's a little
shoody compared with my Sony Ericsson. but overall i'd suggest this

Had the phone for over a week now, lovee it. Battery life is ace,
only charged it for a couple of hours, and i'm quite a heavy user.
Didn't think the music player was all that good, not very loud and
music can be disorted, however it's not bad enough not to get the
phone. Touch screen is ace, wicked to use. This phone is awesome
to text on too. Phone feels great in your hand! lol. I brought a
2gb memory card for it from the carphonewarehouse for only £12.50
so the memory wasnt a problem!! Buuuy it! Rating:

AMAZING PHONE - A pleasure to use, switched to this from a N95 which
I thought was big, slow and buggy! The KF510 is really easy to use,
the touch sensitive buttons respond really well, and fantastic all
rounder phone! 5 Stars Rating:
