In a nutshell: The HTC HD2 has the biggest screen on any phone. With an absolutely brilliant touchscreen user interface and the latest Windows Mobile operating system, this is very powerful but easy to use device. Features include a superb web browser, GPS with Google Maps, a media player and an FM radio. It also has a 5 megapixel camera with video calling, although photo quality is only average. But it's large, heavy, expensive and has poor battery life, making it rather a niche product and definitely not suitable for everyone. Check out the top 10 independent deals for the HD2 below, or click to read the full review and user reviews.

HTC HD2 Review

Review: December 2009.

The HTC HD2 is an upgraded version of the HTC Touch HD. The HD2 does everything that the HD did, but even more so. The HD2 isn't a small phone by any means. In fact it's noticeably bigger and heavier than the iPhone, although slimmer. In fact, it's a superslim 11mm. It's not going to fit into everyone's trouser pocket and it's one of the heaviest phones in the shops. But the reason why it's so large is the screen. If you thought that the display on the HD was huge (and it was), then the display on the HD2 is absolutely massive. At 4.3 inches across, and with an incredible resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, this is simply the best screen on any mobile phone that we've ever seen. If you want to watch videos on your phone, get this phone!

The screen is a capacitative touchscreen, and it's wonderfully sensitive to the touch. HTC have brought out everything that they can think of to make the user interface on the HD2 the best ever. Apart from the size and sensitivity of the screen itself, the HD2 uses an ultra-fast upgraded processor, so there is no lag at all. The memory has also been upgraded, so running apps doesn't seem to slow the phone.

Perhaps the nicest feature is the new HTC Sense user interface, which is overlaid on top of Windows Mobile Professional 6.5. With HTC Sense, you can easily customise the home page, giving you one-touch access to all your favourite apps, such as messaging, calendar, facebook, etc. HTC Sense is organised around contacts, so you can easily view a person's emails, texts and other contact info in one place. There are great features here, such as the full virtual QWERTY keyboard, the zoom control activated by the touch of your fingers, and the accelerometer which automatically rotates the screen orientation when you turn the phone on its side. Under the hood, the Windows Mobile operating system is powerful and customisable too. The Windows Marketplace apps are starting to grow in number, and you can find plenty of useful stuff there.

The HD2 also has a great music player, benefiting from a 3.5mm stereo audio jack, so you can plug in your own headphones. With support for microSD memory cards, you can easily expand the memory to store thousands of MP3 tracks. It also has an FM radio with RDS. The GPS receiver with Google maps works brilliantly on such a hi-res screen, and has a digital compass feature too. The web browser is also superb, making excellent use of the large screen and touchscreen interface. HTC have upgraded the 3G connection to use HSPA, so you can download at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and upload at 2 Mbps. WiFi is also available, for ultra-fast data transfers in a WiFi environment. Bluetooth 2.1 and USB connectivity is also supported.

So far, so good. What we've described is an absolutely brilliant user interface with an MP3 player, GPS receiver and phone attached. Sure it's big, but how else could it have such a large screen? The problem is that HTC have enhanced the strong points of the original Touch HD, but without addressing any of its weak points. The weak points of the Touch HD were its large size and weight, its poor camera, and its weak battery life. The HD2 doesn't fix these problems. In fact, they have become even more obvious in the HD2. Not only is the HD2 larger and heavier than the original, but HTC have replaced the 1350 mAh battery with a weaker 1230 mAh. The results is even less battery life. The camera is 5 megapixels, the same as the Touch HD, but it now comes with a dual LED flash. It still can't compete with other phones in this price range though.

So, the HD2 has enhanced the strong points of the HD, but failed to address any of its problems. That makes it in some ways the best possible phone, and in other ways rather lacking. It's perhaps like a finely-tuned supercar with no room for luggage and impossible to park. You have to choose a phone like this with both eyes open, knowing what it will do and what it won't do. We hope that this review has given you an understanding of this.

Ive had my HD2 for a few days now and am already amazed by it. This is my first ever HTC phone so it takes a bit of getting used to. So far everything i have come across is perfect, great picture and the screen is just amazing! Only thing i'm not pleased with is text messaging, i have found that some of my messages have not sent and I wasn't aware of this. Other than that the phone is great. People say the battery life is poor, but from what I have experienced so far... it isn't any worse than phones I've had previously. I would recommend this phone ... as long as you have the patience to play around and get used to the quirky layout! :)

Ive had my HD2 for just over a week now, It is on Vodafone UK. If I was to say this phone is brilliant, I would by lying. It is actually beyond brilliant, Its awesome, Far better the the iFruit I had last year. Dont get me wrong, The iPhone is a very good phone but the HD2 is SO much more. The battery last about 48 hours with normal use, It is a little tricky to navigate at first but it doesnt take much getting used to. It is also very easy to customise. I could say alot more about the HD2 but I cant be bothered, I need to go to bed :P

I read the reviews here before buying this phone on contract with O2. At first i thought, yeah this is a really good phone, I even sold my iPhone 3GS on Ebay a few days after getting it. But unfortunatly the honeymoon was soon over after a couple more days. I found myself constantly having to tap the screen again as it hadnt picked up the first tap. Web browsing was a nightmare. It was me trying to buy an item on ebay and pay for it, something I could have done with ease on the iPhone, that made me send this back to O2 under their 14 days returns. Slow browsing, lots of checkered patterns when browsing pages, links not picking up when tapped etc.. Really frustrating. I laugh at people that say this is an iPhone beater.. No way.. lol Also MS have announced that there will be no Windows Mobile 7 upgrade for the HTC HD2.. Glad ive got rid. I will happily use my Nokia 6303 now until June, and see what Apple have to offer with the new iPhone :) There will NEVER be an iPhone beater...

You peolple out there who dont like this phone are mad. I have had most of the best 3g smartphones and this is without doubt the best.Yes the battery will be used up if you leave all your apps etc running, touch screen is sensitive if you are heavy handed, camera is only 5mp. The trouble is,the menus are different from your run of the mill brands. The phone tends to feel a little alien until you spend time with it.But my god what a phone, better than the iphone 3gs. Mine is on o2 and I updated the software staright from the box.I saved Task manager to one of the app tabs on the main screen and I use this to close everything down before its put on standby.Battery life 2 days,YES 2 DAYS.The phone is the fastest on the market and is super quick when surfing and downloading whether wifi or phone network internet. The whole concept of this phone is fantastic, you just need to use it and spend time finding your way around the phone. All those people reviewing the phone and slating it need to send them back and buy a simple phone they can get btheir heads round, but if you want the best and love having the latest and best , this is the one for you. THERE IS NOTHING HARD OR BAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS PHONE IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT,YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED

Take an iPhone, dip it in lard, and voila, you have the HTC HD2! Let's face it, Windows mobile is an unmitigated disaster. There are also plenty of silly bugs in the HTC software, yet Vodafone refuse to release any of the updates from HTC. Great.

I got this phone 4 days ago and i am returning it tomorrow as i don't like it. Camera is a very poor 5MP. with flash on and in daylight you would have though the picture was taken in the dark. the touchscreen is far too sensitive, it doesn't let you scroll without it going into almost all the options. The internet seems to run all the time, which is why battery life is poor, i know there is an option to terminate it, but when you close the internet it should not still run behind the scenes. Don't get me wrong the text side and phone side is good, but this is not an iphone killer.

I've compared this phone to all its competitors and this is probably the best phone currently on the market AND better than a lot of the phones due to be released this year. There are however a few problems which have been mentioned in these reviews. Before I mention these make sure to read the whole review to see why this phone gets 5 stars. The problems: The 1st problem is that the touchscreen can be TOO sensitive; the 2nd is that the battery life is VERY poor and the 3rd is that it still runs Windows Mobile 6.5 in the background. Firstly there are tweaks to reduce screen sensitivity - Google it! To address the battery problem, a new, more powerful battery is due to be released any day now, and finally, when Windows Mobile 7 arrives the HD2 will be upgradeable. With all those problems rectified the HD2 annihilates all other phones, including the iPhone!

i got this phone on the Tuesday and had it returned by the Friday - let me explain, on the plus side the screen is just about perfect, excellent quality, camera is good and lots of features and apps. On the negative side, very poor navigation, the SMS screens are terrible laid out, the touch sense keyboard is hard to use, zooming in and out of web pages is almost impossible and trying to activate a link on an web page is almost impossible. There are another couple of facts though, on the HTC website the Rom has been updated in feb of this year, however as an O2 customer i can't use this and have to go through O2 - of course O2 have not got any updates for the Rom, the Rom on my phone was from Aug 09 - so 6 months out of date, now i'm not saying that that would have made a difference, but from what i read it makes the phone a lot easier to use with the updates. I also have very big hands, so maybe the touch screen was not the best partner for me, worth trying though. So to sum up for the screen, camera and apps i'd give it 5 stars, but for the actually day to day use i'd only give it 1 star.

I kept this phone for a month and had to return it to t-mobile. It is too sensitive and during conversation you can accidentally make calls to other numbers. Sound from the ear piece is so bad thatit peaks even at the lowest volume there is resonance as if the earpiece is loose. I returned it to tmobile for a replacement and the new replacement phone is the same bad sound from the earpiece that gives you headaches. Surprisingly the review does not address this

Purchased the HTC HD2 on the O2 network, the first thing that strikes you is the size of the screen, my mrs has an iphone 3G and when sat side by side the size and quality of the HTC's screen is by far the better of the two - I would even go as far as saying that it makes the iPhone's screen / display look some what dated. The HTC's Sense software is a joy to use, very simple and it looks fantastic, particularly the weather updates. The HTC HD2 is however, running Windows mobile 6.5 behind HTC's software and unfortunately this is the phones down fall for me, for example, when a new e-mail is received, it is displayed on the e-mail tab using HTC's sense software, which looks brilliant, then when you tap the screen to open the e-mail, it is opened into windows mobile's software which is just hopeless. I have also found that the on screen qwerty keyboard isnt the easiest of things to use, usually finding that i have made several errors when reading a text back that I had just typed, it gets annoying having to go back and delete words and re-type them. I owned an iPhone 3GS prior to the HTC and screen aside, I have to say that for ease of use, the iPhone is the better handset, the concept of the HD2 is fantastic, it just desperately needs an update to the operating system. However, the HTC HD2 is far more customisable than the iPhone, with things like changing wallpaper etc. All in all, 4 out of 5 for me.

I think a lot of people who have tried the HD2 haven't spent the time reading the manual or playing around with the phone. Yes it is a complicated piece of kit, but lets face it, its like a mini pc. If you want something simple, go for an Iphone or Nexus One. If you want something that is very flexible and powerful, shows web pages as if you're on your own pc, then look no further. The interface is great and the touch screen is as good as the Iphone. It does everything well, and yes the texting takes a bit of getting used to,but it works fine. The battery is a bit poor, but then again you can charge the phone through a micro usb, very flexible. The phone has its glitches, but all phones do when they 1st come out, and this is no different. And i'm sure the phone will be brilliant with win7 mobile, whenever it makes an appearance.

This is an update to my original post on the 24th Jan 2010. I have since the last review returned my HTC HD2 to the original owner, seemingly there was an sms or txt message conflict, problem I experienced was nearly all my txt messages either were'nt being sent or they would go all at once or maybe never, I did write to HTC and they replied advising me to return the phone to the original owner for refund other wise I could try software update, failing this a replacement handset would be the next step but unfortunately my serial no was allocated to Virgin and my network is O2, so the rom update still wouldn't be possible for me to do on the O2 network, I reluctantally decided to return this phone, for no other reason except it is useless having a device when you don't know if a txt message has been sent or not, so i'm back using my 5 year old Nokia 6500 at least my txt messages are sent and I no longer have to worry if my recipients have received them or not.. I purchased this phone of a user on E Bay, so my advice is if your deciding on purchasing an HTC HD2 of e bay would be to check the serial no on HTC HD2 web site to confirm you can update the rom as this most probabally cured the problem but I didnt have time as my window for refund on e bay was very close so i reluctantally returned the HTC HD2 to the original seller.. I give this phone 5 stars, as it's an excellent phone and I will be buying theor new HTC HD3 when it comes out next year. Thanks

This is a brilliant phone (or is it a tablet?). Having - finally - managed to secure one, it's impressed from day one. The screen is so easy to use, the Sense UI is attractive and fluid, the connectivity, functionality, speed and overall experience are also fantastic. The camera, for what it's worth, is actually okay, but it's not going to compete with any Cybershot or N-series cameras. If there is a gripe, it's the back-end software you sometimes come across in the deeper menus in WinMo 6.5, which can be visually dull and fiddly (although surprisingly good - when did you last unzip a file on a phone?). If you have fat fingers, you may want the new HTC HD2 stylus for this. The upcoming WinMo7 will, apparently, be a total overhaul and thankfully get rid of the old WinMo interface once and for all. HD2 owners will apparently get this for upgrade free. On the apps front, there's a load of good ones, but you need to go out and find them. There thankfully isn't much in the way of the trashy gimmick ones either, most are seriously useful add-ons, including DivX players, Skype, the fiendishly clever Swype, Cyberon Voice Speed Dial, BsBTweaks, Zooomer and more custom ROMs than you could ever want. Also, unlike the fruit-named competition, the HD2 is not locked to iTunes and can even act as a hard drive. You can seriously customise it and also fully edit/paste/copy/delete all files without ever linking it to a computer. Oh, and it has Bluetooth. And browsers that can play Flash. And a great music player. The point is, this phone is a smart alternative to the near-ubiquitous iPhone, and HTC have achieved something really clever with the HD2. If you want to avoid the herd mentality, you'll struggle to find anything to beat this device. As a PS - update the phone with the hotfixes from HTC's HD2 pages as soon as you get it. They sort all the issues people have mentioned below, inc. upgrading the camera's functions.

HTC HD2 is at last on order. Yep after my little review i went back to the shop and had a better go with this piece of kit and was sold. Its still a little big compared to dinky 'make do' phone i've got till this one arrives at my door, but i'll get used to it. Something that may solve the battery life issue for others (and probably myself since i'm quite a heavy net user) is the extended life battery just released. Its got a kickstand built into it that lets the phone be put in portrait or landscape for viewing which will come in handy for videos, slide shows and the like. I'll try and post again when i find out how much one will set me back can't imagine it'll be too much (hopefully)

I never write reviews, but I use this site quite a lot nearly all the time looking at the latest phones and what people have to say about them so here is my review on the HTC HD2.. I got this phone of EBay for £370 and have since wrapped an Invisible shield round it. So to keep it good no scrapes. I love this phone it's absolutely brilliant, fantastic camera user interface is so simple to navigate, only gripe I have is it keeps connecting to the internet to downlaod weather data but I have that feature turned of and still it connects can't seem to stop it doing this thank god I have free web browsing. I have since updated the software for the sim card, camera, and txt messages, have to say didn't notice a difference except for the camera which is much better, brill pictures. I will warn anyone thinking of buying this phone of one serious flaw? That is the ''BATTERY''. It is down right pants. If you take it of charge at say 7am and go to work, say you send 12 txts, make a 60 minute call and faff about on the phone say 13minutes take a few pics by the time you get home @ 6pm I would imagine you will be running on fumes with the phone's battery about to die, so if your a power user forget about this phone my old nokia 6700 would last nearly 2.5 days. But if your near a power point no problems, I did use this phone one day without doing anything else than make the one call for like 30mins the rest of the day it was on standby didnt even send one txt nor did I read any txts that day, even then battery life was down to %25. I think htc for this size of screen should have made a deeper profile to accommodate a far bigger and more powerful battery which could have lasted at least a full day or two. I love this phone even with it's faults i'm keeping mine maybe in a couple of months or so maybe a third party battery producer will design a more powerful battery to facilitate longer phone use. It's a shame because there is no other phone out there with the features this phone has to offer, i'm giving the HTC HD2 yes five stars. If you use your phone a lot then look else where. I dunno what else to say screen is very responsive, and it's not too big at all I was surprised how comapct this phone is, I didn't find it bulky at all if anything I loved the screen and screen size though you won't be sticking this phone down your trouser pocket any time soon, more like your jacket pocket. I think you should know to keep your charger handy so you can always keep the phone topped up throughout the day other than that, your going to be holding a dead phone in your hands.. This ends my review. Thanks

I have to agree with Lee below. The phone in itself is a lovely piece of hardware but actually using the thing is a different matter altogether. The touchscreen is responsive and intuitive but as already stated you need both hands to hold the unit. Battery life is horrendous and anything above minimal usage will probably give you less than a day. The screen is a delight but I can't see it lasting very long down the pub on a Friday night! The menu system and not knowing if you have closed down applications were also a minor issue as well. Mine has come and gone, I suspect on the same 28 day Guarantee as Lee below, I'm now looking at getting one of the newer Nokia handsets or maybe one of the Blackberry range, either way it will have a proper hardware keyboard!

I have had the HTC HD2 for four days and its going back to the supplier for a nokia N97 Mini. The camera is not very good at all and takes pictures that look oink in the middle( even after downloading the patch). The Video frame rate is only 25 FPS and lags like a cheap phone yet the HTC HD2 is far from cheap. A must for this phone is some form of protection and currently the crystal cases HCT do not fit as they need to due to the back of the phone being curved and the camera lens being very exposed due to the bulging glass of the lens itself. The HTC HD2 supplied to me did not come with a large Micro SD card and only came with a 2GB MSD. The box is rather cheap looking as is the supplied mains charger that doubles as a USB lead (data lead). The supplied case is useless and looks like a womans purse and you can not get the phone back out unless you have thin fingers. The Sim card and Micro SD are under the metal battery cover so back metal cover needs to be removed if you need to change your memory card or Sim but be very careful as it is quite tricky removing the back cover. The rubberised Finnish on the HTC HD2 is not very good at all and after only a few days shows marks and rub ware from fingers so will not maintain its new look for very long. GOOD THINGS...large screen and nice graphics. The Windows 6.5 is handy yet it is smoothed over by Tc's own UI and a standard headphone port but the micro charging port looks very flimsy and HTC like nokia need to rethink this and have a stand alone charging port dedicated for charging only. . Overall a nice phone but not built to last 3 months of normal use and very bad battery life and only 2GB of supplied memory is not enough when you think of the price of the phone. HTC HD2,,,,Give it a miss they are better phones out there for half the price

Coming to the end of my contract now, so have been playing with a few handsets in store and of friends. Was thinking about joining the crowd and getting an iphone or a blackberry (no particular reason just nice gadgets) then on the the off chance got the chance to play with this in store. Okay so it's bigger than i expected but i'll happily pay the penalty for that gorgeous screen!! Like for like in store the iphone got beaten - speed, browsing, screen resolution, multi-tasking (ever heard of it Apple?), camera, email, exchange support, signal on the same network (still makes me smile seeing 4 bars on the HD2 and a stuttering 1 on the iphone ha) the list goes on and on. The only time the iphone wins is on apps marketplace, but so i've been told microsoft's is building rapidly. Top it all off when WinMo 7 is released it'll be upgraded - better phone and slicker OS without buying a new handset...no comment there. From the brief use i've had of it it's left an amazing lasting impression, if my current contract was up i'd have taken one there and then. Oh well i know what i'll be buying in the next few weeks. CAN'T WAIT!!

Hi again, I wrote a review on the 16th of december. Here I am again to tell how I have got on in the last 3 weeks. First of all, People have mentioned that the phone camera has a pink shade in the middle of pictures. I have to say the camera on my phone is superb, I have taken some fantastic pictures with this phone, It also has a touch focus meaning you can take real close up shots and just point on the screen where you want the lense to focus in. The screen is very responsive, and doesn't crash at all, a friend of mine who has the iphone was scepticle until he had a play with it and he agrees it is clearer and crisper than his iphone and as responsive if not better. The screen is changeable and has a great weather screen saver that updates via gps depending on where you are. and you can have it update as often as you like. It is just like owning a pocket pc, with microsoft word, excell office etc. great for emailing, great responsive quert pad too. Video camera is as clear and crisp as the camera it self. Only down side for me is the applications, but then if thats all I was concerned about then I would have bought an iphone, in the time I have had the phone the apps are getting updated on a daily basis so I fully expect this to be alot better over the coming months. The size of the phone for me has not at all been a problem, and I don't have the biggest hands for a guy. the colours on the screen and pixel resolution are fantastic, it has to be seen to be believed just how clear the screen is. When making calls it is clear and precise and has good volumn adjustment. Internet browser is quick and responsive, and there is a free app you can download that means you can flip to wifi at the touch of a button. i have compared the speed to my mates iphone and there is almost no differance in speed it mearly seems to depend on the network and coverage areas, as you would expect. All in all, maybe I am biase as I have one, guys I am very happy with this phone, and have just heard that windows 6.5 that it runs on is likely to be upgradable to windows 7 in the future. making this phone even better, becuase as software improves so does the phone without having to go out and buy a newer and latest phon, (Unlike iphone owners)... 5 Stars from me guys. :-)

Had a HD2 for about 2 weeks now so just starting to get to grips with it. I have an iTouch and if you open the same web site on the two devices side by side you will see that the HD2 blows the iTouch away. The other reviewers are right the battery life isn't brilliant but I synch the HD2 up with my laptop regularly and HD2 charges during this process. Having a device which supports Outlook for email is great. The only issues I have encountered so far are as follows: 1) Camera - there is no red eye reduction on the flash and if you toggle through the flash modes to the light on mode the lamp is so powerful it hurts your subjects eyes! 2) The MS Apps Marketplace is a very lonely place - Apple wins hands down here, but I assume that this will change with time. 3) The HTC Opera browser doesn't support the BBC iPlayer because you need adobe flashplayer, but I can't work out how to download and install it. It opens if you use MS Explorer, but I haven't managed to get anything to play yet, I assume that this is because the player is missing again. This is where the iTouch scores again - it runs straight out of the box using quicktime. 4) I have had one crash in two weeks where I have had to remove the battery to reboot the system. Overall I would recommend this phone because the UI is good and it supports Outlook and the rest of the MS Office automation suite. However, if HTC want to compete with the iPhone they need to get some of the other stuff sorted out.

Taking this phone on it's own merits it is supurb. The build quality is second to none, the screen is excellent and as sensitive as the Iphone and the Sense Interface has been implemented brilliantly. However it is still sitting on the Windows Mobile platform, and however much it is covered up it still lurks in the background. I would say for people that understand what the phone and OS is capable of and not afraid to get their hands dirty the phone cannot be beaten. Try watching a film on the Iphone after viewing one on the HD2, no contest. However if you want a simple and elegant phone that does what it says and does it well I would opt for the Iphone. For me the HD2 wins hands down.

..ok i finally managed to get this phone and have had it for 3 days and its the best phone i have had. I personally think it better than the iphone. The screen is massive and the response it very good. Texting is good and nothing wrong with typing. If you have fat fingers, dont blame the phone..blame yourself. Yhe battery life is ok but i seem to have to charge it everyday and a half because i use the internet alot. The camera is quality and the internet is very good. The overall interface is excellent and neat and the weather animation tops it!! The only thing the iphone has over the HTC HD2 is the apps and storage memory but you can buy the storage card. I had 4 friends look at my phone (they all have iphone) and i knew straight away they were impressed. Nothing more to say.....

I got this phone today, I dod loads of research before agreeing to a new 18month contract with o2. So far I am extremly impressed I previously had a nokia 5800 and obviously this knocks its spots off, it should it is more money. I can't offer an in depth review yet, other than the spec on this phone is far better than the i phone, the camera is better despite what mobile phone reviews say, several friends of mine have the i phone 3gs and so far I believe this will be much better. Also don't forget to get an i phone on the same type of contract will cost you £10- £15 per month more. WHY? I will write a more in depth review in a month or so. Cheers [Editor's comment: We didn't say that the iPhone has a better camera! It hasn't!]

I've had the phone for a few days now and I love the slick interface and eye candy graphics. However, the camera is poor for a 5 mega pixel. Even disregarding the faint pick circle in the middle of every picture (which hopefully should be corrected with a firmware update) the rest of the image is disappointing once transferred to my PC. The colours are not quite right and the edges of objects are over sharpened. I wished I had paid more attention to some of the sample photographs available on the web and realised that HTC have no track record of decent cameras on any of their models. In fact the HD2 has been designed in such a way that it rests on its camera lens which should have been a bit of a giveaway. I know it's a smart phone and not a camera phone but the Samsung Omnia II is in the same category but has the benefit of a decent 5 mega pixel camera.

Got this phone three weeks ago from Dubai. One of the nicest smartphone, it also ranks up with the Blackberry 9700 which I also own. The best thing about this phone is the HTC SENSE, very frendly and easy to use and understand, it should have been the operating system. The windows 6.5 operating system is a total rubbish, I would rather have a Blackberry operating system or an android or more or less apple operating system with HTC SENSE than the windows 6.5 operating system. To me the phone design and the HTC SENSE features gets a 5 star plus, but the windows 6.5 operating system on the phone gets a minus 1 star, the reason being is that the operating system freezes the phone and shuts down, also when trying to connect to the internet, a message come up saying network error refer to the operating system manuals. In the end it is a 5 star due to the design of the phone and the HTC SENSE, and NOT the windows 6.5 operating system.

I've had this phone for 5 days now and i'll base this review on my experience. good : massive screen, great for web browsing and it looks great, very easy to sync up to facebook, twitter and email. no lag, doesn't slow down at all. The handset is large, but thin and fits nicely in a pocket, tho it is a bit awkward trying to operate it with one hand. bad: typing is a nightmare, even in landscape mode the screen is far too sensitive and sometimes goes a bit haywire and registers button presses you never made. sms messages go to straight to outbox and don't get sent for hours, i'm on vodafone uk and i've trawled through forums and found lots of people with the same problem, not just on my network so it seems to be a prob with the phone. overall i'm really dissapointed about this phone, there's so many good things about it, but the main thing i use my phone for is texting and it's a nightmare on this, both typing the texts in the first place and then not knowing when they'll be sent. So because of this i've decided to send it back. shame really

I went to the Vodafone shop today and the lady gave me the HTC HD2 to "play around" with. i have to say i was totally amazed of how fast the response was and the internet was super fast on the 3G. The interaction is superb and the screen is massive compared to an iPhone and very slim. The calendar, contacts and other menus are very stylish and looks neat. only downside is that the internal memory is not alot but you can always buy a storage card. Defo worth checking it out at the stores..will post again once i get my handset!!!

This phone is really amazing. I got it 2 days ago and im still discovering new things about it!!! The screen is amazing, its so easy to use the internet with, and its lightning fast! Im really impressed with Bing (it tells you any place you need to know around your area, then tells you the number of that place u want to go and it gives you a map to find it). Emails are really easy to set up and use, way the music is set out is really easy to use to. The camera is a good quality, and because of the screen makes the picture look amazing even though it is 5 megapixel. If you want a decent satnav on the phone you have to pay an extra 25.99 but i would say its worth it. Overall its a brilliant phone, would recommend it to anyone!

What a phone, where to begin! I'll start with the obvious. The HD screen is immense, so crisp and clear and the resolution is brilliant. Next up, software, HTC have done an amazing job in skinning Windows Mobile, the 1GHz processor makes the phone run like lightening. Touch response of the phone is fantastic. Design wise this phone is a winner as well. Haven't found anything wrong with the device yet either, email setup is a breeze. I guess the only gripe would be lack of Apps, which I'm sure will soon be coming to this phone! Highly recommended!!!!!
