Love the phone, but it has been going blank. It happens when I set it down on its back, like with a little tap. Am I being too rough on it? I refuse to wear a holster for my phone. All the other stuff works great. For those having trouble setting the ring tones, you're going to have to use the manual a couple of times. For those having trouble sync-ing the email, try setting it up online if you have T-Mobil, it's excellent.

Great phone i love it took a while to get used to the keyboard but then it would appear it has for everyone else, my only probs are the setting tones for sms and ring tones still struggling at that, also some web pages such as u tube keep coming up as un supported which can be a tad annoying, email is great though it hasnt synced with my hotmail, i know sounds a bit negative but i have to admit it i wouldnt change it.

Brilliant phone. Had the 8100 and this is even better, especially with the wi-fi facility. Anyone who says otherwise should be ignored :-)

The 8120 is a great business and personal tool. It handles email flawlessly and keeps me on track for all of my meetings and appointments. I keep it in the holster on vibrate and get the reminders whenever I need. I have looked at and tried smartphones for many years but this is the first one that I felt was worth buying. The suretype took some getting used to but it is easy to learn and fast. I use email, started using facebook to communicate with family and friend in different countries and use the web wirelessly, Great buy! It is not an iphone! It is used more for business and it is excellent for that!

The blackberry 8120 is the chocolate teapot of the phone world. It's not sexy like the iPhone and similar touch-screen phone, and it's not logical like the Nokia e90 Communicator and other high end phones. The menu system seems to have been designed by a complete idiot. And once you navigated the perverse logic of the menus, very little works, and almost nothing works as you'd expect. For example, where are your SMS messages? Well of course they are in two different and seemingly unconnected places. How do you Bluetooth a ring tone? Let's just say that you don't go to Bluetooth and set it up from there. The wifi won't connect when you're inches away from the router (except sometimes with other people's, but not always!!). I still haven't found how to set default ring tones and SMS tones. And the Internet doesn't have much help for this model. You can spend hours achieving nothing on it. The default ring tones and SMS tones are completely missable so you never know someone's calling or just sent you a text - but that doesn't matter because you'll never find it anayway! And don't start me on that stupid rollerball. You never know where you'll end up when you start using that! Don't buy it. It's definitely minus 10 out of 10.

My manager swears that this is the best phone on the market today. I have the opposite opinion. the rollerball is hopeless as you have to roll it quickly for it to move!!! the QWERTY keyboard is very very unclear and confusing save your self some time and get some style and get a E51 instead which has just the same connectivity and a better camera. The only reason to get this phone is if you want to LOOK like a business man!

Chris You must be some sort of demi-wit . The push email is brilliant, build quality and battery life fantastic. It doesnt creak or feel like its going to break like a Nokia does and isnt bling like an Iphone (you buy one of tose for music, not doing a job). Also the qwerty suretype is great if you persevere. I've used loads of business phones in the past this is the best ive ever used. Remember you need a data/email package with your provider to use the email facility.

Good phone which does what it promises if you are interested in proper Emails that come to your phone when sent (other than you having to keep checking in) and keeping up with Blog posts. The web browser is adequate for that and the keyboard is very easy to get on with. Better than "abc def ghi" anyday!
*** Geek tech O2 alert: If you have the O2 unlimited tarrif be aware the unlimited only applies to browser use through the blackberry internet service and not for TCP/IP java applications that you might load on the phone (using a mobile APN) - OR for connected things like laptops. BTW this is not a 3G phone!
*** Choice tech alert: If you have the O2 unlimited tarrif and known good EDGE/GPRS coverage in your area, there is not much point in having WiFi - The other pearl with GPS may be better for you?
Overall very pleased, and although I normally also carry an iPod Touch, I wouldn't go for a iPhone to replace both. Buy it.

Fantastic phone I have been using several smart phones, HP614c, Nokia N958GB, Samsung i620 all do the same sort of things but with issues! This phone is without doubt the most easiest and useful of them all, It does everything Good while the others do one thing good and everything else average, even the camera which I thought would be the weak link is exceptional for a phone this size! Buy it.

A great phone! Day 1 and Day 2 you will be dispairing of the keyboard and will consider sending it back .... don't do that .... persevere and by Day 3 you'll be glad that you stuck with it. The unit is small, light and powerful. A single charge lasts 3 days or so.

Review it?? Its over priced tat. You can get several other phones that do all this does but the Blackberry expects you to pay extra to collect emails etc. I am using the iphone and got this as an upgrade, and it went straight back. Small screen, un helpful qwerty key board, plastic feel. I felt the whole phone was the Ford Mondeo of the mobile phone world. Does it all but average and a reps phone. The Nokia N95 has battery issues, the iphone has several bad points(camera etc) but both are far better for every day use and both out strip Blackberry as business phones...

Ok, In simple terms this thing is without doubt amazing!! I've not had it long but already I'd not swap it ..ever. It does take a little getting used to but in terms of txt input I've not had any problems, ( and i have arthritis in my hand ) I've not had to teach it many words so far,the suretype input is just as good a T9 if not better. It is superb for browsing and I really like the layout of the message box. You do need to read the instructions and spend some time feeling your way around the settings, which are a little annoying at times, but persist!. The media functions are second to none and the desk top interfacde is all powered by Roxio so a breeze to use. As for the battery, i dont know what people do, but if you ensure you it an 8-10 hour charge off the bat and every time in needs charging it'll last days even with some heavy use, I average 3/4 days and i dont turn it off. the calander/ diary/ note functions are easy to access and use with almost endless options and it syncs with outlook easily. The only niggle I have is that the bluetooth insists on being paired with anything you want to file share with, but its not the end of the world. Great build quality. Overall this is a fantastic phone in all respects,if you a looking for this kind of phone you wont get better in my opinion, and it stands out from the crowd

Had the 8120 for about six months now, fantastic phone, much the same as the 8100 but with added wi-fi. Everything was easy to use once you get used to the blackberry UI. A charge will last me about 3 days unless I'm using the music or video a lot. Keypad is great when you get the feel for it, you just need the confidence to keep typing your word until it is recognised. Great small and thin form perfect for the pocket.

Had this phone in the process of returning it. Did not find it very user friendly. Ok on the internet, loud speaker did not work properly and it was difficult to change the ringer tone of the text message (unless mine was faulty) Also when it ran out of battery you would assume that you could plug it in the charger and use it straight away, but not not with this one you at to wait about a couple of minutes then you would be able to make the phone call. diary and internet was great. have to get use to the key pad as it is a semi querti key board. but once you got the hang of it it is great to use.
