In a nutshell: If email on the go is your top priority,
and you don't like the size and weight of the big BlackBerries,
then the 8120 could be a good choice. However, the 8120 lags behind
other smartphones when it comes to most features, and it isn't the
easiest phone to use either. Best buy: On Pay as you Go for £89.95 fromDialaphone

fault for not selling you a data plan. This phone is capable of
a normal internet connection using data, your phone company probably
just didn't sell you a plan that gave you any data. The wi-fi is

I have had this phone roughly a month now, I hated the QWERTY keyboards
predictive text. I have never had a BlackBerry before and during
the first day or two I was appalled at how a phone could be realeased
that had so many errors. Plus difficult to use! Slow functioning
with the apps, freezing, crashing and turning off. Also I will never
ever, ever ever get another Blackberry on the Orange network...
However, once I turned on multi tap. Configured my email accounts,
turned on the memory cleaner, downloaded an App to soft reset the
phone. Grabbed a copy of Opera mini for the browser. Which also
required configuring as the BB can switch between multiple data
plans without informing you. Changed the Theme and generally spent
time managing applications better so that they do not lag as much.
I -love- THIS PHONE! Once you get used to the new format it becomes
clear why Blackberry is such a good management tool. I am now pretty
much a Blackberry nut and will be buying the 8220 and giving this
phone to my Girlfriend so that we can use the Blackberry pin messenger.
However it scores a 4/5 because no phone should really require a
customer to have to configure it's settings extensively and pay
for apps in order to make the damn thing work like it's supposed
to! This phone nearly ended up in the bin, but my persistance paid
off in the end with it. Would not reccomend this phone to people
who are not patient and technically minded. Go with iphone for ease
and pretty displays. This is more for IT business types. But will
require effort to get it up and running unfortunately. PS: I hate
Orange. 50mb fair usage allowance for BB internet services is pathetic. Rating:

I have had the BB8120 for about 5 months and felt I has to respond
to the fairly negative reports below. Operating system:- It is a
little complicated, but once mastered it offers many options to
optimise the interface to your choice. You have the ability to down
load useful 'Google apps', sync your calendar, contacts and still
receive e-mails instantly. Trackball: - Very easy to use and assists
in navigating round the O/S / menus. Not sure what people are complaining
about or what they suggest could be used instead. Keypad:- Very
easy to use, robust feel and accurate. A full seized keyboard would
be ideal, but this is the best option for a phone that fits comfortably
in your pocket. Battery life:- It is poor because the BB is constantly
in use pulling e-mails. The phone would have to be a lot larger
and heavier for longer battery life. I charge my BB every night
and am now used to doing so. Talk quality:- This is impacted if
you connected to a wireless router, otherwise there are no issues.
Just remember to switch off the wifi when at home making a call.
Handset freezing:- The BB8120 is not a Mac Pro with 16 GB of Ram,
it is a hand held device with many features / application. If you
have browser cache full of web pages, Google maps open, downloading
e-mails, then your chat client is going to be a little slow. You
have to accept this. Fit and feel;- The device looks professional
although does have a slight plastic feel to it. Having said this,
I have dropped it a couple of times with little damage. Overall,
I am very happy with my BB8120, I receive e-mails, calls, texts
without any hassle. Contacts and calendar are snyced with gmail
and browser is excellent for what I need it for. All this in a device
that fits comfortably in my pocket and doesn't look like I am making
calls from a calculator. This is not a replacement for a desktop
computer so do not expect the same performance (my iMac freezes
more often than my BB) Rating:

1) the buttons are useless, they are very flimsy, and so- called
'sure type technology' is rubbish. I tend to avoid typing anything
nowadays, you get words wrong way too often, 2) I can't hear it
ringing when it is in my bag, the highest possible volume is close

once you've got used to it, it's brilliant. The email service is

the other blackberrys available. A lot of people have been complaining
about the battery life, and although it isn't superb, that is what
is expected of Blackberrys, especially when youu take into consideration
of everything it does. But in order to help the battery life make
sure you close applications properly, instead of just pressing the
red phone button to exit, because otheriwse they keep running in

Folks, remember to read the manual and/or check out the help screens.
The erased messages and erased phone calls happen because you need
to set your options to not erase these every 7 days or whatever.
I never had erased calls (missed, incoming or outgoing) but I did
have erased messages. What did I do? Modify my messages option!
If that is too difficult and frustrating, then I would highly recommend
that you get a 'more user-friendly' phone. I concur that the user
interface needs some help from an expert UI engineer. Faith Rating:

I'm a letting agent from South Wales. I have been given the Blackberry
8210 by my employers and I find it to be an all round great phone,
especially for business use. I am out on the road 70% of the time
doing viewings and find the phone great for communicating with clients,
my colleagues at the office and my other colleagues out on the road
too. I can use the camera to take property pictures and respond
to incoming emails minimising the stress of returning to the office
and having to reply to endless enquiries waiting for me on my computer.
It's slim and light-weight so no big buldges protruding from your
pocket (no pun intended!) and comes with a leather pouch to protect
its shell. The keyboard is the QWERTY type so this can sometimes
proove tricky when differenciating between a standard phone keypad
and the Blackberry but im sure I will get the hang of it soon! All
in all, it's a sleak design, takes some getting used-to but fantastic
when you know how to operate it, it does everything apart from making

I don't touch the phone for the rest of the evening and by morning

clean it, that should solve your problem. In case anyone wants to

the ring and you can then get the roller out and use alcohol and

The blackberry 8120 is the chocolate teapot of the phone world.
It's not sexy like the iPhone and similar touch-screen phone, and
it's not logical like the Nokia e90 Communicator and other high
end phones. The menu system seems to have been designed by a complete
idiot. And once you navigated the perverse logic of the menus, very
little works, and almost nothing works as you'd expect. For example,
where are your SMS messages? Well of course they are in two different
and seemingly unconnected places. How do you Bluetooth a ring tone?
Let's just say that you don't go to Bluetooth and set it up from
there. The wifi won't connect when you're inches away from the router
(except sometimes with other people's, but not always!!). I still
haven't found how to set default ring tones and SMS tones. And the
Internet doesn't have much help for this model. You can spend hours
achieving nothing on it. The default ring tones and SMS tones are
completely missable so you never know someone's calling or just
sent you a text - but that doesn't matter because you'll never find
it anayway! And don't start me on that stupid rollerball. You never
know where you'll end up when you start using that! Don't buy it.
It's definitely minus 10 out of 10. Rating:

Ok, In simple terms this thing is without doubt amazing!! I've not
had it long but already I'd not swap it ..ever. It does take a little
getting used to but in terms of txt input I've not had any problems,
( and i have arthritis in my hand ) I've not had to teach it many
words so far,the suretype input is just as good a T9 if not better. It
is superb for browsing and I really like the layout of the message
box. You do need to read the instructions and spend some time feeling
your way around the settings, which are a little annoying at times,
but persist!. The media functions are second to none and the desk
top interfacde is all powered by Roxio so a breeze to use. As for
the battery, i dont know what people do, but if you ensure you it
an 8-10 hour charge off the bat and every time in needs charging
it'll last days even with some heavy use, I average 3/4 days and
i dont turn it off. the calander/ diary/ note functions are easy
to access and use with almost endless options and it syncs with
outlook easily. The only niggle I have is that the bluetooth insists
on being paired with anything you want to file share with, but its
not the end of the world. Great build quality. Overall this is a
